Keep in mind raw dps on a weapon basically trumps any stats.
I was a little confused by this. Is there any difference between a 500 dps weapon which is +%dmg or +min/max dmg over one that is the same (500) dps because of some other modifier like +x-y fire/arcane/holy/poison dmg?
I've actually been confused about that too. Like when I'm browsing new 1h weapons in AH, I don't know how much I should pay attention those additional stats like fire dmg, arcane dmg, etc. And then I figure that there must be all these monsters out there with res to all that stuff anyway so perhaps that doesn't even matter. Damn this gear oriented game....

All the +Weapon Damage%, +Min/Max Damage, +Arcane Damage, +Attack Speed, etc. affixes are already added into the tooltip damage. And Elemental Damage is in no way different than any other Elemental Damage, except for Cold which slows, and is therefore put on weapons in smaller amounts than the other elements.
Things that aren't factored into tooltip damage are things that don't directly affect the weapon, like +Crit Damage, or +2% to Crit with Revenge.
Ah, so then, whatever DPS I'm looking at for a given weapon, that's with all the additional stats already factored in minus the crit chance? That makes things easier for sure.
Just wanted to comment on your sig...the fps version of WW2 made me laugh
Any place i could download it from..cause i dont seem to be able to just copy/paste it straight from a post.
I don't remember where I got it from to be honest. A student presented it to me years ago and I thought it was priceless. Just google WW2.gif and you should find it somewhere.

I read somewhere a blue post about elemental damge, he/she said it was only an aesthetic difference in the game except for cold, so holy damage is not better against undead demons as in the previous diablos, there are some modifiers for arcane damage as wizard though so I guess they're worth for something...
Having no manner of luck farming act1 (bad drops) or pressing into act2 (wall/jail elites) on my WD, I am putting some time into my barb to break up the monotony of splinter kiting and spamming bears.
Where is your barb at now? Just got mine into act 3. Belial was fun, he enraged just as i Landed the killing blow! I wiped previously 3 or 4 times with my regular tank spec. To get the kill on belial i ended up using this crazy ass build
Finally got the better of my scrooge instincts and spend some coin on the barb (~1mil) in celebration of my first big AH sell. I made about 900k on a decent 1h bow. So after some AH browsing I managed to bolster his stats to 48k hp, 8.8k armor, 850 AR, and 18k dps (with frenzy stacked). Act1 now feels like a playground and despite the fact I still have no LoH, revenge/ignore pain is doing more than enough to keep me topped off.
I'm hoping to crash through the remainder of act2 and make some headway into act3 today with the much-needed stat boost. Wish me luck!
Update: Crashing through Act2 may have been a little hasty of me. Although progress is swift, i'm becoming very well acquainted with affix combinations I need to be careful of (hello horde, nightmare, frozen). Hopefully there will be a Belail corpse to dance on tonight.
Update2: Foul luck with affixes has set me back a few thousand gold, mostly due to my stubborn desire to try and deal with two adjacent elite groups (frozen, jail, arcane, shield, and desecrate among their combined tools) without swapping a passive to juggernaut and loosing my beloved NV. Clearly not the best decision i've made today, but a good dose of humility will save me repairs in the future.
Time to pack the progression up for the day and see if I can't milk act1 for another round of repair gold.
Don't be afraid to drop NV stakcs when you are progressing. As a barb i don't consider progression the same as farming. So i am always switching specs round for bosses or different champ packs. Also don't be afriad to skip elite packs! (yes im talking to you fast, molten, nightmarish, horde SOUL rippers in A3!!!!!) FUUUU
Indeed, I should have spec switched, but I was feeling over-confident at the time. I haven't had much time to go back and take another shot at finishing act2 lately, but when I do it will be with the gloves off for sure.
IMO, Barbs have had two different approaches, each one with their strengths and weaknesses.
S&B - Revenge / Charge
Basically the mega tank option. You take a lot of punishment, deliver lower DPS thus killing things slowly, but die less often.
S&B / Dual Wielding - Sprint / WW / WotB
The "you no CC me" build. Requires more gear, at least 40-45% critz, 750+ LoH and basically you run WotB endlessly with all its benefits, including higher DPS and invulnerability to CC. Problems with this one is that every now and then you find yourself surrounded by walls or just running through a huge pool of plague / molten / desecrations and die. Not to mention your head might spin a bit after a long fight, but fun.
A1 is full of joy, A2 is ok, A3 is still a brick wall to me.
I hope you enjoy your barb. Loved mine.

I hope that question makes sense.

@aldrek, Thanks for clearing that up.
I think this is accurate.
My barb is currently lvl 57 and using http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVRXkP!Vbe!acbacZ this spec with sword/board equipment. Not amazing damage, by any means, but kept me alive while blitzing through nm and hell mode in no manner of gear.
Also, WotB is amazing.
Surviving arcane enchants without LoH, definitely a lot of fun.
