My Razer Banshee has taken a crap on me. I was wondering what headsets you guys use and what you recommend. (It's honestly my fault it took a crap on me...I dropped it a lot..)
Surround sound in headphones is a myth; it doesn't exist. You can't tell the difference between multiple speakers less than half an inch away from your ear, you would probably get even more confused.
I'm not sure exactly what this is trying to say, but headphones definitely have the ability to simulate surround sound with timings and speaker positioning in the can.
But anyway, I use a Logitech G35 I got for a good price and it works well for me. Before that I had a very basic Sennheiser headphones with no mic. They were uncomfortable because they sat on top of some of my ear, but I will say that they sounded quite good for their price. If you purchased a better model with bigger cans I'm sure they would be nice.
Also, you do realise the HD800s are $1000 studio headphones?
Yes sir I do.
The thing I don't get is they are using a bigger plug for more power right. So it you need a 1/8" adapter to use it doesn't that defeat the point of having a 1/4" plug in the first place?
I'm guessing they are intended for sound boards and things of that nature.

There's no difference in performance, but the bigger plug is more durable, which is why it's used on costly equipment.
You normally never need an adapter because the 1/4" jack is standard in high-end speakers and studio gear. It's mainly computers and mp3 players and stuff that use the 1/8" jack.

Yeah. And audiophile/studio headphones are typically hard to drive (they need a lot of power). They won't sound very good if you don't have a great sound card or a good headphone amplifier.
If you're looking for a pair of headphones for allround use with a computer you should probably be looking at the HD555s or something similar.
I was more wondering why they did that. I was looking into getting headphones. But I ended up buying the z906 last night.
