Wow... Simon the sorcerer and the monkey island series.
I just had to mention the Disc world series and a game called "The Neverhood" and also "Orion burger"... Jesus these games bring such a nostalgic feeling. It almost brings tears into my eyes
Oh and did anyone play any of the "Goblins" games?
Hmm. So it's day two. I've talked to everyone I can talk to. I have a stick. A cord. A newspaper. And my umbrella thing. I have no idea what else to do. Getting ready to quit.
le
i dont gend of zelda can be considered an adventure game, kinda.
think ive ever played a pure adventure game, maybe im too young
Broken Sword series (late 90's to mid 00's - skip the 3rd and go for the 4th after you're done with the 2 first)
Monkey Island (90's)
Larry (up to 7 and awesome! 90's)
Black Mirror (mid to late 00's with a sequel coming this year)
Grim Fandago (classic, late 90's or early 00's can't remember)
Sam & Max (late 00's in many episodes)
Runaway series (late 00's)
And there's a whole series from early to mid 00's (Syberia, Longest Journey etc)
I highly doubt you weren't born (or old enough) when they were out to play them! Some of them are still in the market!
I did actually play the first Broken Sword on a gameboy emulator, quite interesting game frankly!
My list, the ones that come to mind(not including Diablo):
Unreal Tournament-99: Saw my dad playing it when I was 5 years old, and then I started playing it myself!
World of Warcraft: 2007-2011, played over 100 days on main character.
Golden Sun: Amazing RPG game for the GBA, if you haven't played it already you're missing out on something HUGE!
Other mentionables:
Age of Mythology
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
Runescape(yeah I know)
Far Cry
I'm so addicted to adventure games lately. Just finished Grim Fandango and currently playing Full Throttle which I've never actually played all the way through so this is interesting for me so far.
Yeah I saw that Sam and Max while researching LucasArts adventure titles. They really were the king of the genre. I think with how well LA Noire was received we may begin to see more adventure titles coming out.
Overclocked looks interesting, Don. Thanks for pointing me toward it. I'm assuming there's an English version?
Gauntlet for the NES: earliest memories of gaming are this and contra with my cousins
Super Mario World for the SNES
GoldenEye 007 for N64
The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
Halo: Combat Evolved
TES III Morrowind
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Repbublic 1 and 2
Fable
... not many i'd call favorites on the 360. Maybe because ours broke and I just never got it fixed.
PC games (in a vague order):
Warcraft: Orcs and Humans
Age of Empires II and it's expansions
Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War
Diablo 2 and it's expansion
World of Warcraft
Starcraft 2
and Maplestory deserves an honorable mention for the oceans of unholy hate i bear for it. seriously. Just google it and you'll see why. No need to experience the terrible game play.
As for top 3 favorite games, I'd go with starcraft 2, swkotor, and morrowind. Diablo's not up there because I was "too young to be online." No idea why I was allowed to play it, though. Pretty sure I justified it with, "but i'm fighting diablo, that's why it's named it."
Ultima Online
Day of Defeat (beta)
Nox
Duke Nukem 3D
Rise of the Triad
Shadow Warrior
Doom 1 and 2
Age of Empires 1 and 2
Descent
Goldeneye 007
Diddy Kong Racing
Battletanx 1 and 2
Turok 2 and 3
Vigilante 8
Max Payne
Half-Life 1 and 2
Hmm, Max Payne is one of my fave games as well and even i forgot to mention it. Weird. But anyways, i used to really like those Mystery Case Files games in which you had to find hidden items at different locations. They were real fun. I got bored eventually though.
Has anyone here played Painkiller? It had a really nice gameplay. Lots of cool weapons, foes and scenarios. It was one of the games i enjoyed playing most.
And then there was Postal 2.
After every few minutes in the game i was like WTF!?

''May the Gods give you the strength and power to bear the madness which flows through our minds.''
''Zubin, I've always imagined you as a crazy raver. The kinda guy that spends all night dancing to trance music while waving glow sticks and popping ecstasy.'' - Murderface
Never played Just Cause 2 but the game looked really nice. I read that it has a really high AI which would be a really great attribute in a game as good looking. I hate it when you encounter the same enemies in the same places and they die in the same way every time. And it is also open world, which i have mixed feelings about. It does give you the freedom of making your own decisions and makes your every encounter in the game varied but following a set linear storyline can sometimes be a lot better as in HL 2.
But i am attracted to a lot of games at the moment. F.E.A.R, Far Cry, Call of Duty 4 and GTA 4 among them. I'll just add it to the list.

^I think its great, You should try it out. I was expecting the game to be like GTA vice city style but it has alot better graphics, Better AI and the open world is what i love most about it, can do just about anything you like.
I havnt played the newer GTA games yet i should try them before D3 takes over my life haha

You know its going to be a good day when you enter a corner sideways.
True. There is so much left for me to play too. I played GTA 4 at a friends house a few times, never bought it myself though. It had really great effects. Tiny ones like putting on a helmet automatically after getting on a bike etc. I even loved how the player used to ricochet off after collisions. Just like the combine rag dolls in HL 2. And the graphics were to die for. I couldn't handle the vehicles though. It happens to me every time i play a game first time.

Ultimas, from IV to VIII and the two Underworld spin-offs.
Origin made incredible games. Theirs are definitely among my favorite. I never played Ultima that much though. I recall this one that begins with a huge hand dropping you onto the planet and you walk around the forest and there's someone being publicly executed.

Sid Meier's Pirates is a mentionable for me, but way too addicting and hard to be a favourite.
