If God exists then he is crazy. Why even create us? Speaking strictly from a perspective where Heaven exists, why do we even have these lives here? "Hey, live eighty years and then spend ETERNITY in absolute bliss" ??
Is God really so vain that he demands a measly couple of years of worship and faith to be rewarded with eternal happiness or damnation? After all that he has created, why does he even need our love?
God, if he exists, is really egotistical in my opinion.

I believe that some lives suck because of the mistakes of their ancestors, who, somewhere along the way, did something completely wrong to fuck up their life.
I like this theory also. "The sins of the father shall be visited upon the son."
If your ancestors have progressively made your life shittier and you are the one to overcome that and have faith. It makes sense to me that you would be rewarded greatly. To overcome the burden of carrying your ancestors sins as well as your own is a tremendous achievement.
I believe Earth has one of two purposes... to continually exist, or to serve as a source of agents that pass a test. If we're here continually, we never really leave the Earth, when we die we come back as a newborn. To progress in technology, intelligence, and morality is our goal. If we're to pass a test, that will send us on the next level (whatever that may be), and the test would search for something that's rare and hard to manufacture without the conditions we are currently in, possibly various religious and philosophical texts/studies hint at this. Those who fail the test, similar to the case above, come back to Earth, Earth itself being little more than a science project.
That sounds a lot like reincarnation, I've always loved the idea behind that. You continually are reborn until you better yourself to a state where you can pass on.
So following the commandments makes me a slave and a mindless sheep, eh? Slave on what? Doing things like not killing ppl, not stealing, helping my family and helping other ppl?
Not killing why? Not stealing why? Helping why?
If it's because YOU want to, is your choice.
If it's because someone told you to, it is slavery, or obedience, which is not far from slavery.
Doing good for someone... for something... doesn't count. It's no longer you. It's the commandments. It's God. You, the person, the individual, are gone.
What if there was no God, no commandments, then what? Would you kill my family without blinking since there's nobody there to tell you otherwise?
And don't know where you get the idea of anti-emotion.
Christians tend to be against hate, against anger, against lust, against pride, etc. These are emotions. Generally, Christians prefer to divide stuff into black and white, and eliminate the black, emotions included. Christians do not care that they may never lead to actions.
And power can corrupt people, make's em greedy and evil - why just not be a normal person instead? Why would you need to control people, amass wealth and think only for yourself?
What is a normal person? Most normal people have power.
This is my world. To be powerless in your own world, what's the purpose? To be nothing but a rock that other people kick around? Then you're not only a slave of god but a slave of other people. What purpose does existence serves, then, if you let everyone walk over you?
What is corruption and evil? Do not confuse stupidity with evil.
And i know very well that right or wrong are fixed argumets. Hell you can say that everything is fixed, since you can't be 100% it is as it is, know what i mean? Might will not make right if you follow the commandments...
Might always makes right. It's the only such force in the universe. The others, such as universal consciousness, are considerably weaker. God is just another form of might, as well. The most successful construction, one producing the strongest and best equipped, will be the one most likely to survive and remain standing. If that construction happens to follow commandments, then they will survive and pass on that mode of living, to present day that we have now. The most powerful construction will have the strongest and most practical moral code, and the Bible only goes so far in that area.
A society that does not condone killing is stronger than one that does. I prefer a society that does not condone killing more than a society that does.
Common sense, and pure egoism. No rights, no wrongs, no religion, just that simple fact.
Commandments showed us common sense and egoism, and how they drive people. Otherwise, they would have never worked, not long term, not among our race...
Well, I always thought of the Ten Commandments as just a list of things you should never, ever do... if you're a Christian, those relating to your god don't apply those who wish to follow the same rules.
I don't need the bible to tell me I'm a good person. I don't need a priest to tell me how to be a good person. I don't need a Christian to tell me I'm not a good person. Find me one piece of evidence that you need to follow the bible to be a good person and I'll read it, front to back covers.
I, honestly, don't have faith in any religion. I just don't find it very necessary; it's a choice that betters the hearts and souls of some, but I can never find solace in something not tangible like my own success.
Does God give favors? Like, if, let's say, the Christian god was not present in my beliefs at all, yet I grew up to be successful with a loving family, a nice home, and a great career:
1.) Did "god" give me that success or did I earn it myself? Was I predestined to gain that success or did I overcome all obstacles to get to where I want to be?
2.) Did "god" willingly give me all my success even though I did not believe in him? If he did, then how can he tell me that he did because, in my mind, if I climbed to the top, who's to say that someone helped pull me up when I knowingly climbed every step of the way?
3.) Will I still go to "Hell" if I don't accept the wisdom of the Heavenly Father even though I plan on giving my children and my wife a wonderful, adventurous life?
And I'm done. The Bible, in and of itself, is a collection of metaphors meant to provide guidance to those who seek wisdom from it. I am not besmirching the bible based on the fact that I don't need to read it to achieve morality, but those who seek wisdom from the Bible will find it. It's a book of lessons and morals, much like we already know.

I hate the way you cling to ignorance and pass it off as innocence
10 commandments were an oversimplification of a huge range of various rules presented to a specific group of people at a specific point in time. They're more universal and applicable, and easier to understand.
They're hardly "never do" in my book, though. They are just that: a gross oversimplification. And some are just "Wut?"
"I am your God..."
"You won't have other gods..."
"You won't misuse my name..."
Well, the whole point of the commandments was for "god" to give mortals an idea of shit he does not want you to do. He doesn't want you to pray to other gods, he doesn't want you to steal, he doesn't want you to cheat, all that jazz.
It was just his list of things that he wanted us not to do to make our lives redeemable.*
*note that when I type that, I'm speaking rhetorically.

I hate the way you cling to ignorance and pass it off as innocence
Well let me go through every Commandment in Exodus and its flaws.
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'
Now in the fantasy of man, we create a religion. Naturally, we protect our fantasy, and in arguably one of the most influential moral laws in the history of humanity that is documented, it is natural that the fantasy that man creates will determine that the man will only follow their set of moral laws. In other words, in order to keep people in your religion, you prohibit any other religion. It is a natural human behavior.
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
In essence a copy of the first commandment, this is what a Christian site http://www.ainglkiss.com/ has to say about the matter in their attempt to analyze the second commandment:
God wants us to worship Him. He doesn't want us making carvings in wood or stone to worship. It's ok if there is a cross on your bible or on your church, that is a reminder. It's a symbol. It isn't ok if you worship that cross. You only worship God.
We just call His name and He hears.
We just ask and He gives.
God loves us
So again, you are presented with the fact that if we don't obey the fantasy, then you are not a Christian.
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'
Once again, we are presented with the idea of man protecting his own fantasy. There is no better way for people to respect something if they create fear around it. Creating a taboo around a name, especially involving deities, will create fear of this word, and will, and it is proven, make fear of the idea of the deity.
Now, this is for believers of the religion. If you live in a firmly Islamic world where you cannot take "Allah"'s name in vain, this doesn't make you Muslim. This commandment is designed to create binds around the people who believe in Christianity.
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'
Now creating traditions within a religion is essential for the development and survival of any religion. To the followers of the religion, it creates a sense of belonging where you can essentially focus fully on the religion, which again binds the follows ever closer to the religion.
(Yes I know I said "religion" five times in three sentences)
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'
SIX: 'You shall not murder.'
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
Now the reason why I am grouping the last six commandments is because they are essentially used for the same purpose. After analyzing the human fantasy and how it wants to protect itself in the first four commandments, it would be helpful to help the follower of the religion, in this case Christianity, to have some moral laws to usually are made from common sense.
These are all made by the same laws of civilization. In order for civilization to survive, you cannot have murdering, stealing, etc. If you were a clan member in a tribe in Africa, killing your village mate would prove to be anti-civilization, which would lead to the eventual downfall of this group. So having logical moral laws within a fantasy's rules of self-protection will help its image greatly, because you won't find anyone who's sane that does believe in murder.
So what am I saying here? There really aren't 10 commandments. There are 4 commandments, and 6 helping moral laws to help the commandments look better.
Couse the fanacits are the slaves - those that use good motives to do bad things - kill in the name of God? No this is not religion....
Oh so basically if you do good things you're not a slave but if you do bad things you are? I'm sorry, it doesn't work like that. If you do anything, ANYTHING according to NOT a self-developed ruleset, you are a slave, servant of that ruleset, and it makes absolutely no significance wtf is it that you do.
too many what if's, ask this your self too. You think it's not already that way for some ppl? World wars, killings, domination - all because lust and greed? What's good in that?
If that's what we are, that's what we are. To change ourselves is a greater goal then to follow an artificial ruleset the purpose and significance of which we do not understand.
You only point out bad emotions. Why should you praise them? They don't bring anything good. What about love, compassion, charity? Why not aim for these?
Bad emotions because Christians see it in a polar view where they consider some good some bad. Because humans are not all kittens and roses. Humans are the dark and the light. Emotions are not a negative thing, they're a reflection of the inner world. There's no purpose to removal of emotion without changing the inner world, it just won't happen. The Christian approach where you shut yourself out and try to trample your own dark size only leads to psychological problems. We're not cut out for this.
I cant understand your definition of power. As i understand it from what you wrote - it is life energy, lol. As i said power in terms of control people, amass wealth and think only for yourself leads to corruption and greed. Or you thing this is good? This is not a normal for me.
Power is the ability to affect your own fate. Whether it's done via life energy or wealth is irrelevant.
Useing your power and strength to help others for nothing in return, fighting with hardships and helping people in general and asking for nothing in return.
One should never do anything for nothing in return, that's illogical. People strongly confuse what was meant with that idea. I've yet to meet an altruist that didn't enjoy what they were doing - THAT is their return. Making a better world is a return. These returns are just too complex and intangible for common folk to understand, they simplified it for you.
Be happy with the less you have, help people with the more you have. Thats a normal person to me. No, doesn't make you slave, doesn't make you rock - makes you a better person.
Normal is average. Most people are not that way.
Why should I be happy with the less I have? Why should I help people with the more I have?
Who are you to define what is a better person?
This could be your world but it does not resolve solo around you. Otherwise make you just and egoist.
I am an egoist, I never said otherwise. And this is my world. It's for me to live in. And I won't let anyone tell me otherwise. I won't let them force me to work more than I should. I will not let them take away everything I have. I will not let them trample on my beliefs. I will not let them murder those I love. This is my world and they will have to FIGHT to get anything from me.
Might makes right - power to stronger - jungle rules. That what you mean? Fixes nothing... leads to bad things, leads to nothing. You can as well say murder, rob and rape makes right... Sure it's the easier way.
It's the only way. Thanks for not reading my post, though, I think I specifically said the strongest construction would have the strongest moral code (e.g., no murder, robbing, or raping).
It's because of not following the commandments, things like murdering happen. It's because of act then think, might makes right, you see? A society based on that principle? No thanks...
Society is already based on that principle. If you think it was ever based on anything else, you're delusional.
Murder happens because that's how man was made. He was made as the vicious animal, born to kill, born to take, born to make right with the power he possesses, and there's, I repeat, no other force in the universe.
Can man change? I don't know. But it won't be easy, and I'm not convinced there's a point.
You are right, Irrational, I gotta agree that commandments 1 to 4 are pure mass control shit, but 5 to 10 is something everyone should be respecting and keeping...
Sarcasm?
I didn't say mind control shit. I meant that they are simply ways to keep people to stay closer to Christianity, as it discourages free will and philosophy.
No, not even a single letter of sarcasm in my post. You misunderstood me, I genuinely agree with you and there wasn't a single negative feeling in me when I replied to you in my post. I don't think God is some double-faced, self-obsessed creature that gives us the right of free choice but then goes on to say those things said in commandments 1 to 4. Sadly, the Bible, being a "holy" book, is full of such contradictions, lies and words written for mass control... Once again, there is not even a drop of sarcasm in my posts...
Oh okay. Haha sorry.
Well, if you are really not sarcastic, I think you took too extreme. They are not trying for mass control, they are trying to protect a lie...
Well, if you are really not sarcastic, I think you took too extreme. They are not trying for mass control, they are trying to protect a lie...
I don't like you interjecting that God is a lie like that, that's pretty rude.
The 10 commandments were spoken by God and written down by man they're not protecting anything. It's disrespectful to God to break the first four, assuming he is the creator.
Think of two like he has a copyright on things and you'd be breaking it. One I think is interesting it says you shall have no other Gods BEFORE me. Maybe wording was different back then but it doesn't sound like he's excluding other beings of near equal power from existing, just saying he should be worshipped most.
The way I've always heard it is you shouldn't speak his name in vain because it should be used in prayer only, to speak his name is to request him to listen.
Four is just a day of rest, don't work, don't party, I think we'd all benefit from at least one day of rest.
It's disrespectful to God to break the first four, assuming he is the creator.
I don't see anything disrespectful here, especially since we have no tangible proof of the existence of any particular god.
I also think copyright is one of the most retarded ideas ever. Not to mention that, supposedly, in the kind of state that god exists, copyrights would serve no purpose anyway since nobody is earning money off of anything. That's not a very strong argument for me, lol
We have no information to respect him, anyway. I'm not going to respect something I have no identifiable contact with, that makes no sense.
Preventing people from creating images of stuff is just silly. Yet it's a freaking commandment.
Names are just names. Again, punishing people with crazy stuff that people think you will get punished with is silly.
What the hell does "holy" mean?
Why should I keep a certain day a certain way? What do I care what something else, something that is dissimilar to who I am, had a free day on that day? o.O
I'm sorry but these commandments imply the creator is a megalomaniac and nothing else. Someone who wants to be coveted and worshiped for no reason. And I say no reason because there is no proof of anything, and punishing people for not acting on lack of proof is a dick move.
Maybe wording was different back then but it doesn't sound like he's excluding other beings of near equal power from existing, just saying he should be worshipped most.
Again, sounds like a megalomaniac. Why should he be most worshipped off the bat?
The way I've always heard it is you shouldn't speak his name in vain because it should be used in prayer only, to speak his name is to request him to listen.
Trust me, assuming he doesn't completely disregard prayer in the first place, he has a filtering device by now.
You do not stupidly restrict something mundane that will happen and threaten people with fire and brimstone if it does, and put it on the same level as murder.
Well Equinox that's where faith comes in, you don't have to respect him if you don't believe in him. That's the whole concept behind faith, and I'm pretty sure he should be worshipped right away because he's God? He created us and gave us all that we have, why shouldn't he be worshipped. Assuming you believe in God, if you don't then it goes back to it doesn't matter if you don't have faith.
Also how can you assume he has some sort of filtering device? He may be bound to some set of rules. Like I pointed out it does say worship no other Gods before me. He may not be the first "God". Really no one knows, everything is so skewed, I'm just using a generalization of ideas. For all we know he could be like Beetlejuice and when you say his name 3 times he's forced to appear.
That's the whole concept behind faith, and I'm pretty sure he should be worshipped right away because he's God? He created us and gave us all that we have, why shouldn't he be worshipped.
I see absolutely no reason why we should worship our creator, except out of fear or in hope for favors, perhaps.
I find worship as something that needs to be justified, not the opposite. And, honestly, I can't imagine anything that's ever worth worshiping. I always viewed that as a strange concept because it implies someone is absolutely better than someone else, something I just don't believe in.
Also how can you assume he has some sort of filtering device?
Because that would be silly. I'm not 100% sure that he has one (I'm not 100% sure about anything, though), but if he somehow got himself in that situation that's no longer our problem.
My problem with worship and faith for God is that a being of that magnitude would not be so pity to want and expect it. To simplify the idea, that's like a parent having a kid just to have someone love them. You should sacrifice yourself to make them happier, no the other way around.

I am not saying god did not sacrifice anything creating us. I just don't get why an omnipotent being would want his cration to worship him. It just seems egotistical to me.
In my opinion, if god does exist, he does not require blind faith and devotion to be granted with eternal bliss. He would have to be abov such a pety ideals.

Again, sounds like a megalomaniac. Why should he be most worshipped off the bat?
Trust me, assuming he doesn't completely disregard prayer in the first place, he has a filtering device by now.
You do not stupidly restrict something mundane that will happen and threaten people with fire and brimstone if it does, and put it on the same level as murder.
I find worship as something that needs to be justified, not the opposite. And, honestly, I can't imagine anything that's ever worth worshiping. I always viewed that as a strange concept because it implies someone is absolutely better than someone else, something I just don't believe in.
Because that would be silly. I'm not 100% sure that he has one (I'm not 100% sure about anything, though), but if he somehow got himself in that situation that's no longer our problem.
Not my problem.
That sucks, that's all I can say.

In my opinion, if god does exist, he does not require blind faith and devotion to be granted with eternal bliss. He would have to be abov such a pety ideals.
