the M11x,M15x and M17x all look amazing probably are amazing and seem to be good computers, but i really want a laptop and i want to game aswell, so i hought of getting the m17x and upgrading a few things first getting the dual 4870's and the 1200p screen resolution, then getting a backpack to put it in and upgraded to the better core-i5. I was wondering if this is a good computer at all i know for a 2.7 grand price its risky but i mean is this a good enough computer to run alot of games powerfully on max and everything or is this just a complete ripoff to me.

I'll just say that you should not be spending more than $2,000 for a computer, ever. Alienware laptops will get the job done, but they're usually overkill and have huge markup values.
What games do you intend to play? Is it absolutely necessary to have a gaming laptop, or could you get away with piecing together a $700 desktop (which would be enough to play all modern games very well)? There are laptops that cost much less and would be able to play most modern games.
Do a little research into other brands like Dell, Toshiba, Sony, and Acer before going with Alienware. They're notoriously expensive.
Those are ridiculously overpriced, as well. i7 processors are completely worthless when it comes to gaming because most (read: 99%) of games only use a max of 2 (the i7 Gulftown chip has 6).
Wouldn't spend more than $1,200 for a gaming laptop. Look for Dell, Sony, Toshiba, or other big laptop companies that offer independent GPUs in their more expensive laptops.
I have a bias when it comes to this, because I hate laptops..especially when you intend to use them for gaming. 2.7 grand? Are you fucking kidding me? I could buy a car for that much. My PC, which can play all modern games on max settings cost me 1700$ a year and a half ago. Look into other brands as others have already said.
Its not that I doont want a desktop but I want something portable and well I can't custom build my own laptop so I thought alienware wuld be good for gaming I. Haven't checked others but plan to do so tomorow.

If you are really into gaming I would consider a desktop and a cheap netbook for portability.
my mom has one and let me tell you its slow as shit, i hate slow computers. Like itll take a good two or three minutes to load everything up sometimes 5 minutes.

Have you checked the Asus gaming laptop line? They are reasonnably priced and provide a great warranty not to mention that they deliver great performances. You should check their website out : http://usa.asus.com/ProductGroup1.aspx?PG_ID=1quIC6RvvlvcvNbn.
I recently got an ASUS gaming laptop myself this one here to be precise. Personally I find the Alien Ware ones to be fairly over priced when I was doing my homework on what one I wanted to get this is the one that caught my eye and the one I ended up getting (around $500-$1000 or so cheaper then the Alienware doppelganger at that). I am able to run SC2 on completely max setting with 60FPS and zero slowdown. Also back when I was playing wow I was getting 60FPS in Dalaran during peak hours (if you play or played wow you know how much of a pain in the ass that place can be when its busy!)
WOWOWOWOWOW have I been looking in the wrong place! Those Asus gaming ones are BEAST! The 73 one looks sickeningly sweet with radeon 5870 graphics power and a 17 inch display at full HD. and the 51X looks nice with a nvidia GTS360 and altec lansing speakers in it, I don't know if that opnes 3d but thats sick a 3d laptop, and i think the 513d is a 3d screen with a GTS260 running it, THATS INCREDIBLE. Thank you guys that helped alot all i need to knwo is where i can buy these from?

ummmm well, I am able to order them through the store I run if you are serious about getting one and it can be shipped to you. I am sure there is a better way to get one if you look into their site a bit. I ordered mine through my supplier tho lol.
Yes! Good luck finding the G73 though, I just ordered mine about a week ago, and it's on backorder for at least another two to three weeks. I recommend not going through Newegg... they're selling a stripped down version for insanely high. (G73JH-X1 for 1649.99, and the G73JH-A1 for 1749.99). I got mine through a different distributor (the G73JH-A1) for about 1549.99, roughly 1640 after tax and freight.

bestbuy.com has the G73 but amazon has the G51's. I don't knwo what would be better, 17 inch w/ Radeon 5870 backing it and a core i7 running 2.6GHz or a 15 inch screen thats 3d with a GTS 260 backing it on a core i5 running at rouchly 2GHz
