I was actually going to opt out because I got on the news team but then Seth nominated me at the last minute and I didn't want to waste his nom. But since I'm still there... Vote for me.

It can also be a terrible disadvantage. Your observations and opinions, as well as writing, are all put on display in front of everyone. What if someone hates your ideas? What if you have some extremist? Toasted
That depends on the person. Someone could think, "Oh, that's lame. X reporter just wrote about what this person did. Copy cat.", or they could think, "The other writer did a better job." When you put yourself out on a limb in front of people like that you have just as much a chance of looking like a dolt as you do a genius.

But, you don't seem to be able to see the downside of it.
It can also work the opposite way, I've had people completely disagree with my news posts before, and thus, they like me a little less.
And no, we don't always get credit if somebody has made one before us. We've taken many threads right off the forums, and put them onto the front page because we didn't think we could do a better job. We also credit people with noticing things first, and occasionally, these other threads get more attention (post-wise) than the front page news posts.
The mass-attention can both work for you, and against you.

Agreed. I don't think reporters have any real advantage. They get more exposure but like Zhar said, that goes both ways.

So thus far, Equinox and I are leading.
Both of us have custom titles, and a custom title is the award for winning this, correct?
So, if the person who wins already has a custom title, then should it trickle down through the runner-ups until a person without a custom title gets it?

Funny, you and her both share the same idea of whether the title should trickle down.
