I just figured that I would let all of you know what I finally ordered for my gaming rig. Everything will be arriving most likely on Wednesday, ordered from NewEgg of course.
So here is what I already have:
Rosewill Wind Knight ATX Mid Tower
Rosewill 550w psu
Nvidia 9600GSO 512MB
A couple of Apevia blue 120mm fans
The rest of the computer is blah stuff, that nobody would care about.
Okay, so on to the new fun stuff!! I'll build up to the best.
Logitech S220 17w 2.1 speaker set (sick of using only built in monitor speakers)
Rosewill webcam RCM-8163 1.3 M eff pixels (To skype friends in other states)
Zalman ZM-OP1 fan (for the in the case slot behind the motherboard :D)
3 Apevia blue 140mm fans (anyone getting curious yet?)
WD Green 1TB HDD 32MB cache (I filled up my 320GB and 80GB way too quickly)
Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm Core Contact Freezer cpu cooler (Mwahahaha!!)
Corsair XMS3 DHX 2 x 2GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel RAM (ooooh aaaaah)
And for the last two parts...Drum Roll...
The brand new MSI AMD 770-G45 AM3 ATX Motherboard (Front Side Bus 2600MHz, ACC, xfire ready, supports 16GB DDR3/1600MHz RAM, 8 channel audio, 6 SATA, 6 USB 2.0)
And finally, the Phenom ii x2 550BE 3.1GHz & 6MB L3 cache
Now those of you in the know, will understand what I'm doing. The Phenom ii x2 & x3 CPUs are all actually phenom ii x4's with cores disabled. The board I selected has ACC and a SB 710, which allows me to fully unlock the extra 2 cores. I'll check stability of course, but there is about a 75% success rating of both extra cores being fully stable so far with the 550BE. Some have gone as far as overclocking to 4.0 GHz while maintaining stability.
In summation; For only $80 I might be receiving a $200 CPU that should be able to overclock to the sky due to the 80w initial power requirement. Even if the other 1 or 2 cores are unstable, I can still overclock the 2 good cores to 3.8-4.0 GHz and have a pretty sweet setup. The only thing left is getting a rockin' video card. But I think the 9600 will get me by for a while still.
I'll be sure to post box openings with my new webcam when it all comes in. Oh, and of course the unlocked cores. (If I believe enough, it will happen)
sexy build archie hope t kicks every games ass you throw at it. Very nice though im seriouslly wondering why the couple of 120mm and the 140mms how many fan slots are in this damn case? it seems to mee like ur just gunna drill an extra fur holes for all these fans and place them anywhere.

It has 6 slots for fans. 1 140mm intake, 1 120mm exhaust, 2 140mm door, 1 140mm roof, and 1 80mm slim. I already have 2 Blue 120's and 1 no led 120. The no led 120 will probably be strapped to my CPU cooler push/pull, depending on RAM positioning, but I should have plenty of space.
The 80mm slim fan is going in the back door behind the MB in a really handly little spot directly behind the CPU. And the remaining 2 120's are going to be intake and exhaust. Actually I only noticed yesterday that the intake slot has holes for a 140mm too, which I might just do instead of the top fan. Or maybe I'll just pick up another 140mm. I'm not sure yet though.
I also have an extra 80mm blue fan which I haven't decided where to put it yet.
I've had the case for about 2 months now, and LOVE it! I put it up on a raised portion of my desk because my feet were getting too cold. Plus now I can see all the pretty blue lights. XD And the quick release tabs on the drive slots and the expansion slots are actually really sturdy. This whole case is very well made.
Everything left yesterday!!

nice next year im building my grand computer that i want to take wth me for a good 6 years through game design college, so i was lookign at maybe an antec p193 or a 900 2 maybe even a CM HAF932 just lookign around for now, asthetics matter alot to me i dont wanna have to sit next to a dull black case with blue lights i want it to pop out be a eye opener and look mighty fine doing so, if i had the spare cash id definetley go with a corsair osidian 800D and LC a phenom ii x2 3.1 Ghz which is the one ive decided on getting. as for ram ill prob take G.Skillz ripjaw sries 4Gb in 2x2GB and i was lookign at the samsun spinpoint 1TB HD. The WD does sound appealing as does the seagate. i guess it wouldnt matter abotu the HD because allt hree run 1tb at 32 mb of cache 7.2k rpm and have an average seek time of 4.2ms. What gets me most confuzzled is the GPU i mean everyday they tak about the next one and to just wait and get it but when it comes out they say wait for the next. Its like when will you ever actually decide this is the right one. Currently thinking of getting dual 9800GTX or dual 5770's or 5870's. Dunno how good the 5770's run yet though and im anxious to see what the Gt300 series will have to offer.

Excellent. I'd stay away from the p193 just because it sounds like you're kinda like me, and want to see inside your case. The 900 two and the coolermaster are both sweet cases that crossed my mind, along with the Antec 1200. But I couldn't pass up the deal on this Rosewill, and I'm glad I made this choice because of the insane airflow. My Athlon 64 x2 4800+ runs idle at 30C and I have yet to see it go higher than 45C in prime 95 torture test. I wouldn't be surprised if my Phenom stays around that as well, with all the extra cooling I will have, that is until I overclock it a bit.
The cpu you decided on is the same one I ordered. Make sure you get a MB with Southbridge 710 and Advanced Core Clocking (ACC), so you have a good chance of unlocking the other 2 cores. If it is successful, you instantly have a Phenom ii x4 955BE. Then with a tad bit of overclocking, you have performance above the 965BE.
As for the GPUs, I hear ya man. I think I'll wait till the 300series comes out then I'll consider buying a 200 series or 5750. At least something with 1GB RAM and DX11 support so I won't have to upgrade for a while.
Sounds like you have everything pretty much figured out the way I would do it. And you're right on the HDD, it pretty much just comes down to pricing and brand loyalty now. Oh, and don't forget to get a good power supply with SLI or Xfire compatability, just in case.
Edit: Also, since you're looking at that price range for a case, don't look past the Thermaltake Element G VL10001W2Z. Wicked case with a 200mm, 230mm, 140mm fan, 140mm exhaust fan, and slots for 2 more 80mm exhaust fans, with a fan controller mounted on the front panel. Great cable management, seperated PSU bottom mounted, 4 front panel USB ports, side mounted HDD cage with space for 7 HDDs, and of course you have the 4 colors that you can change.
I don't really know anything about overclocking so ill stay away just cause a phenom iix2 running at 3.1 GHz would be good for me. I'll have to read up on how exactly to unlock the two cores and maybe learn to OC, But for now I'm basically a newb at all of this. That Thermaltake looks sick in Red, I realized that bigger fans produce more airflow and don't create as much nosie as smaller fans which is what I want somethign that can keep cool without making a huge hum cause the fans are running so loudly. That was a problem for my bro hed be up playing Cs or even just looking ont he web but the fans went so loud my parents would wake up and tell him to shut it off because of the hum. So somethign with big fans is good cause then i can reduce the speeds on the smaller fans that make mroe noise.

But yeah, that's part of why I am upgrading everything that I can to 140's. Honestly, the 120mm's by Rosewill and Apevia are really quiet anyways, but I planned to OC, so I needed the extra cooling. I can't wait to see what happens when I can get rid of that 60mm CPU fan and the 80mm case fan.
And I'll let you know how it goes, but everything I've looked at so far, OCing is a piece of cake, but people make it out to be much harder than it is. Its the same thing with building a pc. Everyone who's done it steers you away from your first build. And yet, putting a pc together was one of the easiest things I've ever had to build in my life (I'm a gearhead). And with AMD's Overdrive, and ACC, it should be pretty easy to OC a processor now.
A bummer that I just found out today. Looks like my package was delayed yesterday. But since UPS isn't sending anything on Thursday, and Friday is the holiday, and the weekend is only sonic air shipments, I got stuck receiving my package on Monday. I was planning on putting it all together on New Years. Damn you UPS!
Looks like I'll have to put off the fun till next week. A plus though, I should be getting my Japanese Black Pine seeds in on the same day, so I can start my Bonsai's.
nice thanks for the tidbit of ocing is easy and im sure your bonsais will be quite pleasent i have some bamboo that curls and it is amazing very nice accentuation to a room. I like calming influence such as chinese herbs and meditation so thats my sort of stuff too.

Same here. I'm actually really surprised that nobody else on this forum cares about my build. It's not like it is old tech or something boring. Maybe they just wanted pics.
So my package has arrived in Ontario California, only 31 miles from where I live. I think I'm going to let the package go to its next stop and then I'll use UPS intercept and pick it up tomorrow, so I don't have to wait till Monday. Fingers crossed!! xD
