Don't worry. I'm not gonna tell you Google is your friend. I really hate it when people say that. However, it does seem a somewhat obscure thing to ask about given the overall content of this website. Mr. Man!
Hey guys! My name's nick and I help out with magfest. I found this thread and saw you guys were curious, so let me give you a bit of info about it.
MAGFest is short for the Music And Gaming Festival. It's a 4 or 5 day long party located just outside Wash DC Jan 1-4, and there's a new years eve party for those who pre-register. Probably the biggest draw to magfest is the music. There are at least 12 video game cover bands that are coming out to play live (6 of which have been officially announced), and a "Jamspace" which is like an open-mic of video game music where people can use the provided instruments (or bring their own) to play any video game music they know, and invite other people to come up and jam with them.
Co-headling the top feature of magfest is, of course, the gaming. 24 hour gaming, to be specific. The console room is 10,000sqft, there are about 50+ arcade machines on free play, there's a LAN room, and there's a tabletop (boardgames, warhammer, d&d, etc). Every single one of these rooms stay open 24 hours for the entire duration of magfest.
The website is at http://magfest.org. If you guys have any questions at all, feel free to ask!
hmmm, mega man = cookies but beer and soda, I don't see the connection.
Anyway, what is the projected weather for D.C. Jan. 1-4?
DC winters are usually fairly mild. The roads are kept up well, and even though it'll be ass cold outside, all of MAGFest takes place inside the hotel.
If by soda and cookies you mean beer and face melting mega man guitar solos, then yes.
*tries to find the connection between mega mam solos and cookies and hopes soda is still available for those who don't want to drink your cheap low quality beer* Your logic is... deniable...
Is there anything more or less healthy to eat for people? I'm serious.
It's up in the air, since I really don't know what setlist each of the bands have planned. The OneUps played the tristam theme at PAX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVf-cQ6Cl7o), and when I saw them in philly in october, so it's likely they'll play it at mag, too.

Is this a guy only thing?
How dare you insult me by ever inferring that I'd drink cheap beer! I'm a hefeweizen man, through and through. Whether you're looking for healthy food, or fatty food, the procedure is really the same. Mag takes place in a hotel that's only food source inside is the hotel restaurant. Everybody usually loads up on food and supplies at the grocery store a quarter mile down the road. It's a pretty standard habit, and I do it every year. There are also restaurants near the hotel that are not taco bell, so coming out to mag does not necessarily equate to your LDL cholesterol levels doubling.

All ages welcome, but the features of magfest tend to attract an older crowd. Parental waivers are required for anyone under 18.
