So we get Liberty on the weekends, but what I didn't know is that we can use the computers here! So last weekend we explored and relaxed, checked our myspaces and what not, but I had little to no time to come on here, and even if I had come here its a bit hard to type long posts on a *cough* Blackberry Storm *cough*.
Yea, I'm just checking up here, for any who are interested, and I'd LOVE some questions. I'm doing Combat training, learning how to react, how we fight, and this next week we'll be shooting alot of different weapons.
As I said before, I bought a new phone! It is the touch-screen BlackBerry Storm, and I'm loving it. Bought it last week actually, and its awesome. Feel free to send me a PM and if I've known you enough I'll send ya my phone number. I feel text deprived.
So feel free to ask anything you want about the Marine Corps, Boot Camp, Training, or anything else really. I'm a fountain of knowledge just waiting for anyone to drink from. Yes.... drinking from my water....O_o
Apparently we as non-infantry Marines have better Infantry training than the Army does. Every Marine is trained into our definition of basic infantry, and those that actually go into Infantry are trained longer and in more dynamic stuff. I'm not Infantry, but I find it pretty cool that I'll be better at Infantry than those of the Army that go specifically into it.
So ask me some questions, please! And enjoy this pic a buddy of mine here found:
Welcome back man.
Ah, blackberries :(. Those things are the devil...
They lead to SO many drunken mistakes, I can't count how many times my friend Chris has gotten wasted and sent people long winded and revealing messages about himself.
How is the training going anyways ? Gotten any bruises from it ?
... Is this so called knowledge water flavoured ?!?!
Anywho, welcome back to the forums, even if your visit will be a brief one ^^.

The training is going pretty good, its hard, but I'm a Marine, its what's expected of me. To be honest I've gotten two big bruises, one on my left arm just below the elbow, and on on the side of my right leg. Other than that, its just sore feet from all the hiking we've been doing.
nice to see an old face on here. and nice chatting with you earlier on msn. Hope all is well and that you are enjoying your self. Hard physical labor is sometimes some of the most fun I've ever had. I wish you the same.

what do you do exactly in the marines? since you said you were non infantry i didnt understand.
In the Marines, that's a good thing. lol
Nobody 'wants' to be infantry in the Marine Infantry. Unless ... well ... only weird people or people with something to prove, in my experience, want to be Marine infantrymen.
Idk how true that stands for everyone. But all the people I know that have wanted to go into Marine infantry divisions have either been really weird, really angry, or act like they have something to prove.
Lol nice to hear from ya again!!!! (I for one fear the army. Idk why i just could never take myself to harm or join anything that will be invovled in killing people. Even if it is for our country I just dont think I could :'( )

Applesoffury, basically the way it works is that you go to boot camp to become a Marine. From there you either become a grunt, or support for a grunt. Grunts are infantry. Nongrunts go to MCT (Marine Combat Training) to learn basic infantry skills and tactics. After this training we go to our MOS (Military Occupation School) and get taught what job we would do in the fleet. There are cooks, communication, motor transport, a bunch of stuff. I'm a Bulk Fuel Specialist (ugh) so I'll be taking care of the transport, handling, and usage of fuels for planes, tanks, hummers and the like.
The point of MCT is to make sure every Marine is ready for combat regardless of their job. You might sometimes know people in the Army, Navy, or Air Force that never had to fire a weapon, or practice combat drills. Now as I'm typing this I'm confident I'll know what to do if I was dropped into a fire fight because of how awesome the training here is.
There are alot of people that like Marine Infantry because even though you bust your ass more, your the definition of badass. You are the one taking the fight to the enemy, fucking up the enemies of the Marine Corps, and all that stuff. Not my taste because you do alot of humping (our term for hiking with full pack of 65 pounds and up) and I don't exactly like it. I don't mind the hikes, but w/e.
Army sucks.
Genesis, we fired M16A4 rifles, 240B Machine Guns, 249 SAW (squad automatic weapon), AT-4 rocket launchers, M203 Grenade Launcher, and Hand Grenades. I'm pretty sure that covers it. Awesome. You feel like a real man firing those machine guns I'll tell ya what.
You know why, but it's all good now - at least it better be:cute:. Lol but I still haven't tried to resend, I keep forgetting.

Dude, what kind of Marine would I be if I haven't seen that thing already about 10-15 times? Of course I have. And yes, we had our own Recruit Pile. Fucking platoon fuck ups. Ugh. Retards.
I don't know if you remember me, but I remember you and I like you; you're a cool guy. I seriously hope you are joking though. I have a friend who is in Afghanistan right now (almost been a year there) and also served in Iraq for 18 months and he is in the Army. I also have another friend who served in Iraq as well.
I mean, if you're just bustin' the army's balls that's one thing; but if you are outright saying they suck that's just ridiculous. I mean, in the big picture, you guys are all fighting the same enemy.
I have three cousins who are former Marines too and they will be the first to say that the Marines do brainwash you. Whether that's good or bad isn't really up to me to say. I'm just saying; you guys are (or will be) fighting a common enemy. Who cares who is from what unit or what division of the military?

My bro showed me a similar image. But since he's in the army it was making fun of the marines.
It wasn't too nice. Something about relating Marines to Cannon Fodder.
