Guns don't kill people, people kill people. I've never seen a pistol fire itself and kill a person. Saying that guns are responsible for all the mayhem would be like saying that spoons are why Queen Latifah is overweight. Instead of banning the method, work on preventing the tool (pun intended).
The thing that annoys me a lot, is Americans complaining about the president they've elected, shortly after he gets into his position. Why did you elect him to begin with? It's because they always vote for the guy they disagree with almost entirely because they disagree with other guy more. Before reaching a satisfactory, competent president (and I'm not saying that Obama is, I've yet to see enough of him to judge him. I'm not optimistic, though), Americans would not only have to change their fundamental ideals about what the government should and shouldn't do for them, but also about what they should do for themselves and each other. It's easier for someone to pick the clique they disagree with the least and ride that bandwagon to their own demise than it is for them to think for themselves. The desire, however subconscious it may be, to become a part of something larger than yourself is universal. The same basic things that divide people politically also divide them economically and religiously. Namely, fear and comfort. People sacrifice knowledge for comfort and freedom for security, all along not realizing that the road they've so willfully taken is the same road they fought to avoid; and thus the cycle continues and public opinion changes ever so slightly from one dogmatic ideology to the next as history is forgotten and only nostalgia remains. So quit any complaining, because at this stage, it's premature and misplaced. Both parties didn't strike me as appealing, charismatic, or competent. At least, not enough to consider either side worthy of taking the pedestal.
Sorry if I missed some points discusse din this thread, I just skimmed through most of it.
AIG bonuses are going to be given back, with a 90% tax. lol.
man u are sponsored by AIG, those losers...
your body will break down McDs, but it will take longer, and certain chemicals will be bad for you while others wont give you any nutrients.
Hey Rocky watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat! Nothing up my sleeve...
What law makers are really saying...
OK you rat bastard exec's, you helped ruin our economy! You took advantage of the laws we helped repeal that forced you to act responsibly! How dare you! You took advantage of all those government backed loans we allowed completely removing all risk to you personally and laid all risk on the poor, poor tax payer with Freddie and Fannie!
Damn you! Damn you all to hell!
How dare you for taking advantage of all the controls once wisely in place that we removed! How dare you give your executives bonuses and take advantage of the loopholes we created!! Do you know what we're going to do you! Do you!? I'll tell you what we're going to do! We're going to yell at you in congressional hearings in front of the entire world! We're going to embarrass you publically! We will send you packing with billions, tens, even hundreds of billions of dollars so you know how angry we are! OH and just so you never forget how angry the average tax payers are, we're going to make them pay for your wind fall!
Uhh...how's about halting all salary raise for any one in office with over $100 per year? (there should be a blank line here, but this forum won't let me make it :P) Gun control is fine. Its the ban gun outright that I'm against. Didn't we already have gun control though? Like you have to have a permit to buy them.
If permits and licenses and all those other fees are what you call Gun Control....
The truth is all those fees you pay to carry around handguns, and own them, etc. isn't "Gun Control".. they are just hidden taxes placed by the government.
Just like Fishing and Hunting Licenses... again a way for the government to tax you.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
Its a way to decide who can own a gun. So yes, it is a type of gun control. And of course, government do what they alway do: take a good thing and tax the hell out of it.
Owning guns is not a good thing exactly; the freedom to own one is.
The way the government is imposing these new gun laws is like this (to me): They are just making ownership of a tool meant to inflict pain or death a little tougher, which isn't a bad thing.

Fully agree with you there.

I had a conversation in this thread earlier, and me and someone else discussed how Democrats (usually) give you the heads up and say 'We're taxing you' and Republicans (usually) don't. This is all just opinion.
Well, I guess that's why Obama wants to make that website.
I support him on that. I do believe the people have a right to know what they are being taxed on and where their tax dollars are going.
I've seen some reports where our money is going and it isn't pretty.
State Taxes should be kept within the states... and our state dollars aren't doing much for those individual states if they are being sent elsewhere.
Each State's website's should have a chart with taxpayer funded projects and a list of exactly what our tax dollars are being spent.. along with the Federal Tax Spending website that Obama has shown interest in making.
