I truely agree with you, Equinox, that what you said would be the best way to raise a child. But keep in mind that this is Daemaru's child, not yours - its his choice, as advice strictly you gave some good stuff. You're just making it sound like... you're demanding him to do it that way...

I don't demand. I warn. It's Daemaro's child as much as it is the world's child, because Daemaro's parenting will reflect in what that child will do in the world, and that concerns me, because I view children as potential allies, either in flesh or in spirit. I think a parent has an obligation for their child, and that obligation must be fulfilled:
love; if you don't want it, don't make it. And, yes, father, too... this defines mental health.
information; there is nothing more important in this world than information. It is key to all other.
health; put them on an even footing with others. This includes physical fitness and mental health. Including girls.
intelligence; again, they should be on an even foooting with others. Including girls.
freedom; do not force them into a cube of your own egoistic views. This will damage their scope.
I list these things because they are outside the child's control. A child has little room to decide to be intelligent, or physically fit, has no way to make oneself healthy, doesn't know what is information. These things just happen, and we get geeks or great athletes, but they should be promted and supported by the parent.
E.g., you don't know what your child will be. You don't know if they will decide to be an olympic champion, or a scientist, or a social worker. But you must give them a chance in EVERYTHING before they reach the age where you cease to matter as the guide. A child should not wake up at 18, realize they love sports, but were never physically apt. A child should not wake up at 14, realize they has a music affinity, but it was never challenged. And this happens. And then they realize that their parents decided who they will be before they had a chance to speak for themselves.
You should pursue those to the best of your ability. You will not attain perfection, nor do you need to. It guarantees nothing for one person, it guarantees a great society for all.
Speaking of childhood development, I saw this reading program advertised (via infomercial) on television over the weekend.
Looks interesting, if the results aren't overly-exaggerated.
Awwww, you got a cute lil baby:cute:I wish you luck as a father Dae, teach her well.
Did you know most mammals have a genetic trigger for cuteness (sympathy)? That's why sometimes you'll get stories of a child being raised by wolves or chimps instead of being eaten or mauled like an adult would be.
Doppel, if you meant "flew out" as in it didn't take long and you came out easily with little trouble and pain, then I'm the same as well. But I'm not surprised, y'all should see how damn skinny I am, lol.
And @ DAe, lmfao at the koolaid comment! Priceless!

We're not even going to expose her to table food until she's 1 year old and then only in moderation. Breast feeding for now, and that's the plan unless something happens to the milk supply.
Going to try to avoid candy, soda, and other sugary snacks. Difficult to do after the child enters school though or makes friends. I wanna instill good eating habits in her, and above all else, common sense. I think that's the number one thing people lack now a days. No one is expecting every other child to be Einstein, but it's nice for them to think about something and question why things are that way and eventually be able to make a informed decision by herself.
You'd be surprised how many adults around here can't even do that.
Give, expecting nothing thereof. ------------ BoD - Come have some fun! Folks will always come and go, so enjoy them while they're meant to be in your life.

Daemaro, if there is one piece of advise I could give you it would be to talk to her like she already knew the language. Because when you talk gibberish to a baby it only confuses them more.
