You bring up an interesting point though, why do you think people (in general, excluding the obvious exceptions) are so feeble minded, have such obvious thresholds, and are so impatient??
Because they prefer to be slaves of their intuition rather than wielders of their logic.
Hmm, I would say it is more because of their own fear, above all else.
"It takes a bravery and courage to challenge everything, and come to your own conclusion, which fuels the fire of change."
People are simply terrified of change (I think) which is why the majority of them choose to live in the past, not accepting that change is in fact inevitable.
My children will follow the ten commandments, but other than the moral teachings from the bible, I think Christianity has nothing to offer that will positively help them in their lives.
Why riddle your brain with information that is detrimental, not only to you, but your society, and the future of your society.
Christianity is one thing, I plan not to ever pursue. I believe It simply has too many flaws and teachings that are an insult to every living thing on the planet earth.
One of the most confused aspects of the Bible is the astronomy (not Astrology) that is inherent in the tales.
The Sun was in the house of the fish (Pisces) for two thousand years, and has recently moved on to the house of the water bearer (the age of Aquarius). Before then, the dominant house was the house of the ram (Aries). Two thousand years from now, it will be the age of the goat (Capricorn).
The big turn at the end of the milennium wasn't the end of the world, it was the end of the age of Pisces.
The three wisemen are the belt of Orion, a constellation which follows and points to the brightest star in the sky, Sirius.
Astronomy of the stars in the heavens was important to people who used them for navigation, and to tell stories to their young about the constellations for good lessons in life.

My five-point rating system: Yay, Kay, Meh, Erm, Gleh
You know the game where one person whispers a short story to the next, and passes it around the table? By the end of a large group, the story has changed quite a bit.
Imagine passing a story on for thousands of years! Even with the sacred order that nothing be altered whatsoever, still some differences accumulate.
As a guess, it seems to me that they used to use the sky as a sort of storybook, where each constellation could evoke imagery and remind them of tales to tell.

That is what I have always believed, and it is very true.
It kind of makes you wonder why the son of god would not make a re appearance, in this age, a time where we could properly document and record everything accurately, forever?
Ohh my days..... if only there was some proof... But then I guess that would be very boring now wouldn't it?:)
That is perhaps one of the biggest fundamental flaws with story the bible(s) tell, in my eyes.
Back on topic here, who has read or heard of this book by Dr. Michio Kaku?
The title is "Parallel Worlds" a bestseller published in 2005. I found this book to be very down to earth, informative, and exciting.... it is packed with tons of info that you wouldn't necessarily find in many of the science or physics book's published today...
Wow, dub, you seem very affected by this man's work. I feel similar things about Richard Dawkins and though he can come down hard on the religious (not nearly as much as Hitchens) I tend to agree so it doesn't bother me, lol.
When I first saw you bring up Dr. Kaku I remember seeing his face somewhere, probably on a program, then I saw that photo of him with that Honda robot and that made me curious as well.
He literally changed my life in the first ten minutes I spent watching him speak.
If you think the stuff in "Parallel Worlds" is juicy, just wait...in the next five to ten years we are going to achieve something magnificent... Something worthy of more than a few Nobel prizes.
Science is finally almost unstoppable now.. and this man is certainly on a roll..
