just finished watching it, i got up at 4 in the morning as i couldnt sleep. came down watched an episode of deep space nine and then decided to watch this. I always knew or thought that it was going to be a frightening movie from my point of view and by God after watching it i felt sick, because i knew that all of those things that happened in the movie happen to people all over the world. It makes me feel just helpless to know that i cant go back to help anyone and it feels so weird to know so clearly that such small things we do in our very life effect everything to come. I am going through a hard time in my life and this was an inspiration to me to do the right thing now, because i know i wont be able to go back and change it later. for the past 6-8 months iv been at a standstill in time, spinning around watching things change as i did not. friends come and go, relationships change, people come in and out of others lives wondering and asking why it had to be that way. I still dont have that answer but i have an answer to a question i did not know how to ask and now i have my answer and i know why i have to move forward, it just has to be. I now know that some things just dont matter and at the end of our lives on our deathbeds we will look back and see what we could have done differently, and thats life and it will always be that way, all we can ask of ourselves is to do the best we can do now. In a way if we look into the future, we can see with a relative certainty how things will turn out and that changes everything because we can change things now in our lives. I know this cannot have the same effect on anyone else but me because everyone is unique and has gone through different things in their lives but i just needed to write this down to help myself understand what i was feeling.
It's a movie toying on a tired concept. It's fun and interesting, but it doesn't offer anything fresh to tell you the truth.
i own over 1000 movies. i have seen loads and loads of movies and almost every known time travel movie every made. I have seen the many time travel episodes of star trek and other shows and this movie is different from any others.
Please tell me what movie you are talking about so i can tell you how incredibly different this movie is from it. If however you are referring to time travel movies in general, well that is a ridiculous notion as that same thing can be applied to action movies and every other type of movie.

I think Edward Norton would have been better as the lead role.
i disagree with you in that it would change everything, it would have changed how the entire movie played out and the same message the movie was intended to give would not have been given. I think you are taking his performance in fight club and thinking that that same type of performance would have been good in this movie but no it definitely would not have worked.
One of the most inspirational movies I've ever seen, was probably American Beauty. It sort of led me to believe everything in life, whether good or bad, is wonderful.

for some reason i found that movie to be very disturbing but looking back now i suppose its a good movie. i shall have to watch it again
Oh yeah, The Butterfly Effect is one of my top favourite movies. Its one of those really powerful ones that affect our way of thinking. I like that. And yeah, its the same with American Beauty, Donnie Darko and all those other cool movies.
However, have you seen the Butterfly Effect 2? SO CRAP. DO NOT WATCH IT. I saw it and seriously felt like it stole a piece of my soul away from me. Its absolutely pointless. Its just some guy who has an okay life, but for some reason wants to make it better via time travel, ends up making it worse, then makes it okay again. He got absolutely no where and for no reason at all. I want my soul back.
The first movie, however, is great, because everything is so fucked up and he tries and tries to make it better again.
I really appreciate movies that affect our ways of thinking, not just for entertainment value. Good one, Num3n, I am proud of you.
The only reason Donnie Darko makes you think is because you have to to figure out what the fuck is going on. I wouldn't say its a movie with a powerful meaning.
American Beauty does. Crash does. Butterfly Effect is interesting, but ultimately didn't change the way I see life.

It's built on a "tired concept", not a repetitive storyline. We all know that if you change the past, you will change the future..they just added a few fancy shmancy bits and pieces here and there. Action movies suck themselves..most movies suck nowadays..they're all just attempts to mimic previously successful efforts..that's why I only watch some movies, and like a very small percentage of said movies.
there havent been any recent movies that keep you thinking, so i'll agree with you on this one.
one of my all time favorites is Fight Club. I dont watch it that often anymore but i'm still thinking about it and what society is turning us into.
Butterfly Effect was also pretty decent. And i also like American Beauty alot.
I'd suggest American History X (Edward Norton starring and he is really awesome there too).
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.

Also, the term "Chaos Theory" just sounds cool.
