Yup. However it would be nice if that point was a conscious event, and not some biological or coincidental happening.
That would be a beautiful thought/action.
Some old people do that kind of, like a certain level of control at the very end. I've heard stories that appeared to emphasize this, I personally doubt it's true but I have heard things!
Yes, dieing is unfortunate and it would be better if we could live on and on. But continually thinking about it or being depressed by the fact that we will die does no good for ourselves and our wellbeing. If necessary, I force myself to always look on the positive.
Having a negative outlook on anything is a bad idea imo. It just leads to sadness, anger, and anti-social tendencies. 100% of people die, deal with it. You still have most of your life to live, and you should be grateful for that.

If you mean that everyone will die, then yes, that is the truth. Even if consciousness could be transferred into a machine (which I severely doubt because consciousness is merely the body reacting and sending electric impulses throughout the nervous system and brain), our planet, our sun, our universe, will not last forever. You will die. And in my opinion, the sooner you become at peace with that the more happy you will be.

Hhm... I take you have never heard the theories on absolute truth and relativity. You cant actually prove I will die or that the sun will last forever. You can say that 50 billion have died in the past so it only makes sense that we will die too. Thats true, but you absolutely cannot be sure that I will die unless you have seen the future. I'm not saying im not going to die at all lol, but what i am saying is that you cannot say that I will die.
Some religions believe tat when armaggedon comes a bunch of good people will be saved and spared from death. You cannot honestly say for a FACT whether that is true or not because there is no absolute truth. So there may only be a 5% chance (obviously you cant really put that type of thing in percents, but for the sake of example im using one) that that religion is correct and there is a God and he would come down and whisk us away on a cloud, but the fact that you can't prove it means that you cannot be ABSOLUTELY sure that we will all die.
The concept basically boiles down to the fact that no matter how big our heads get our knowledge of the universe is limited so as far as humans are concerned there is no absolute truth.
Just google it if I did not explain it well. It just helps with perspective and when something happens out of the norm you might not be suprised like everyone else

That doesn't really prove anything. What you're saying is that I can't know anything of the future for sure.
But then you can't prove anything for sure with this idea, and that doesn't help us any bit at all in any aspect of our lives.
And the difference between 100% and 99.999... with close to an endless amount of decimals is very small.

Umpa, you can believe in whatever you want to, but that line of reasoning is at best extremely optimistic. Maybe as far as I know, I am the only conscious being on the planet and everyone else is a robot. If you truly are content holding on to that 0.0000000000000000000001% chance or w/e it could be, then good for you. I can't give myself false hope like that and would much rather be a realist and accept our reality for what science, history, and observation has proven to be true.

I love aging to death - because no one else has the advantage of stopping time, so they are all fucked just like me and you, and him and her and them.
I rather be fucked in the ass by an inmate named mad dog then be fucked by aging to death.
Did I make any sense at all? lol
But seriously now, you people would rather embrace death like the Aztecs and Myas then to try to find an alternate way of living forever or even just a little bit longer then what you should normally live? What's wrong with you people, you won't even live long enough to see Diablo 3 released lol. Sorry Blizzard, but you have a bad track record for these sort of things.

Hell no. I'd rather live longer than the average age of 78. But there's a difference between a hundred years and forever.
Besides, it's unclear how the brain would react to the amount of memory created over several thousand years. The brain does get full eventually.

Well, you can't prolong death forever- you have to face it eventually. It's a law of thermodynamics, if I recall, that all energy goes from a state of order to disorder. The same thing happens with our bodies. No matter how much you try to stop it, eventually you will die. It happens to 10/10 people. It's also been happening for as long as recorded history allows.
But, I did read about this interesting theory that since the brain just functions in a highly complex system of Boolean values (true and false, 1 and 0) based on chemicals, hormones, and the like, that transferring a brain to a computer is possible, but not at this stage of technology. Then of course you'd need people to maintain you, would have to assume that you would have an energy source for eternity, that the world would not some day fall to pieces, that your mind would not be tampered with by some sort of hacker... Basically, you're no better off. With time, everything dies. There's just too many variables and time expounds on them.
An interesting thought came to mind: Even if your memories were transferred to a functioning vessel, would you still be yourself? Like, in the process of the transfer, would you really be dying, but your memories be preserved? I don't quite know how to explain it.
Now, as to whether I'd rather age to death or not, I would say yes. You can age to death without getting Alzheimer's disease My great grandmother just died at 96 and she was fully capable of walking, talking, remembering, and thinking for herself until she just didn't wake up. And, if my brain did turn to mush, I wouldn't be really alive, anyway, so it's basically just like being dead. By the time you do die, you're probably ready to, anyway.
Death is knowledge and relief from such a stressful world(rofl im not suicidal i swear). I would like to live a nice long life. One not cut short by another person or ailment or accident.

I've thought the same thing. Hypothetically, lets assume that with the advances in technology, we will be able to create full human clones (post birth) of our selves. If we just keep these clones on ice for when our organs start to fail or we are terminally ill, and then transfer our consciousness into them, are we truly still living? (Think of that Arnold move, Six Days I think).
The same sort of thing happens in the Star Trek beaming system. It takes apart our matter at one point and reassembles it at an arbitrary destination.
In both cases, from the perspective of a third party, we continue to live on. However from a first person view, is this true? Or do we in fact die and some other person is created with the exact same physiology and memories who begins a life?
This argument can obviously be taken to an extent that perhaps our consciousness ends every few seconds, but we do not notice.
I personally don't give a crap what happens after I die, and so creating a clone like in that movie does not seem appealing to me in the slightest. Nor would I want my memories to be transfered to a computer or machine. If my brain was somehow transfered however, then perhaps I wouldn't be dead at all, and my life could continue long after it's expiry date... Now I'm just rambling...

And that is an interesting question. If our consciousness were to die every few seconds, or more likely at all times, then what makes us into "us" exacly? Just continuity?

Yea, and are we actually conscious to the point we think we are? Do we actually have choice? Or are all our decisions the simple process of causality, reacting to events in the past and electrical impulses running through our nervous system?
Mmmm, are we getting too philosophical for a video game forum? lol...

No we do have choices. We are not driven by instict and are given choices. We can even use chance to determine which choice we choose.
Reason that we have by definition alone gives us enough validity to assume at least that yes we are conscious with free will.
