So I just read an article about the ABs in Japan in 1945. Apparently, there was some psycho-Christian chick who really was into the "this could've been handled peacefully" shit. Well, even though I am very Christian, am for the ABs. Why? Here is my answer:
First off, we have to understand the position the world was in at that point. Germany surrendered so the war was pretty much over. But the Japanese was still trying take over the world single-handedly, So, politicians got involved and they wanted Japan to surrender. Of course, the answer was no. So we were left with 2 options:
1. Do nothing: The USA and the rest of the world watches as Japan keeps attacking without end until the point where their armies are slaughtered.
2. Attack Japan: The USA and the rest of the world attack Japan and force them to surrender.
So we chose option 2. But from there, we had 2 more options:
1: Attack Japan with total war.
2: Scare Japan.
So we know what they chose. THey dropped the bombs and they scared Japan. People were saved from a slaughter.
So the point of this is that all these fat bitches who keep forming these organizations against the government about something that took place over 60 years ago is just god damn stupid.
I heard enough about this. THose people should worry about gas prices or something.

Although I hate fat bitches whining on tv...
Perhaps they didn't need to drop the bomb on industrial cities, but they wanted to test the a-bomb. Hiroshima and Nagasaki had large populations, so unfortunately they were targeted. Over a quarter million people died, an overwhelming number of which were civilians, plus many many thousands more from radiation poisoning. Its kinda sad but maybe it was necessary, people forget the b-29 bombing raid on Tokyo 5 months before the nuclear attacks actually killed more people than the initial death toll at either Nagasaki or Hiroshima, yet the government still did not surrender. I guess you could say that it was the Japanese government's fault that so many of their civilians died.

It definitely was. So under the current circumstances, they had to prove to Japan that they had no chance against the world so they would surrrender by fear.
