Ok, i noticed that the skills in D3 seem to be more like other games (as opposed to D2), where not all skills go to 20. I don't particularly like this system where some go to 1, some 5, some 10, some 20 and so on. how about you? that and i hope each character has multiple ways of going about making them (aka conviction pally, fanat pally, hammerdin, and so on). That means that respecing entirely is in my opinion a horrible feature. I believe minor repsecing is a possibility though.
I agree with the respec part .. Not the skill part. For half of the skills, getting them to level 20 is entirely useless, and waste points compared to other skills. I doubt Diablo 3 will be different in this regard, so I think that each skill should have a limit based on it in itself; not having to stick to a number.
Also, do you really want to play Diablo 2 with a 3D engine? If you do go play Titan Quest.
I would much prefer D2's system as it creates more unique characters across each player. It means theres more diversity. More skill and thought has to go into creating your character. I love D2's system so much! in fact I think thats really one of the biggest aspects of the game that differentiates it from other games.
A lot of people are complaining about the possible lack of uniqueness of characters
From what we've seen so far with the new enemies, it seems that spamming a lvl 40 skills and having godly gear won't be enough to defeat any opponents anymore.
I'm starting to think that maybe if there's a lot of useful skills, since you can use many of them at the same time that your playing style would make you different from the other characters in addition to the skills you've decided to maxed.
Being able to reset your skills would allow you to change and try new styles.
I would prefer a new system to the 20 points per skill that Diablo II had. There were countless skills that you would only need to put one point into (teleport). I definitely like the varied max per skill more, but regardless of what Blizzard does I'm sure it will work and be awesome.

My biggest concern on this subject is that I just hope they make more than one main skill for each class. This way, most barbs or any class will be different.

I'm sure they will. I think this is just a way of setting up the main skills. I mean, even with synergies in 1.10, there was still little to gain by putting points into firebolt, for example. You could have 20 ranks in it, but it would be useless. So by removing the maximum ranks in skills that are not meant to be your spec defining abilities, I think they're just making it easier for us.
I admit the one thing that annoyed me about diablo was that it became a one or two button mash fest. Because you could only max 4 (5 if you didn't have to get too many pre requisites) and most of them were supporter skills.
I also agree how it was kind of stupid that you could put say one point in teleport/warmth/mana shield and it would be a massive upgrade.
I think this is a positive but I am against full refunds of points.

already confirmed that it goes to a "random" max, i saw whirlwind able to go to 20 and i believe some other skill went to 5, i believe this is much better and i dont want them to change anything they are doing, it's like that for a reason.

Some skills max out at level 10, others max out at level 5, and so on.
