Blizzard is owned by Vivendi, which is about to participate in a huge merger with Activision (they make the Call of Duty Games and Guitar Hero, etc). Could it be a teaser related to this?

A pentagram is basically a 5 pointed star. Whoever thought that a pentagram was a 6 pointed star? That's a HEXagram. And I have strong suspicion it's going to be a new diablo game. Think about it. Why would they want to make such a big fuss over something like that Vikings game? I would be extremely disappointed if it was any other game like another WoW expansion, don't really need one of those. My 2 cents. Peace.
Nope. Still would not explain why a protoss, and not a terran or zerg, face. Go back and read my post again, take a moment to chew on it, and come up with a better explanation.
No need to be sorry. You couldn't know whether it's D3 any more than any of us, now could you?
Why not a protoss? It doesn't matter if it were a zerg, terran, or protoss. They chose a protoss because they wanted to and it would obviously fool d3 fans into thinking it was diablo's face.
And why ignore the point whre I said this could be Arthas and announce WoTLK open beta? WoTLK will be out around Nov. and they could announce beta now and still not have it for a couple of months.
You're right. I don't know if it is/isn't D3...but the theories that it could be D3 are far more stretching than the others.

doubtful, although blizzard is owned by vivendi they are their own company and the merger will have no effect on blizzard itself or their games
I actually had to register on this site to get some things straight in this mildly amusing discussion.
The splash image doesn't tell us squat. It is simply a great advertising trick by Blizzard to stir up some interest concerning WWI. It does not necessary have anything to do with the upcoming title. It might, but we don't have ANY proof for it.
The eyes and the blurry shape in the center of the picture can fit any figure, either from the realm of Diablo or Sesame Street, as long as you want it to fit. This is called "observer bias". Since so many (me included) in this forum want to eyes to belong to Diablo, of course many will locate him in the splash image (horns, forehead etc).
The runes/insiglia comes from at least three different Blizzard-franchises (Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo). The last two may or may not come from Lost Vikings or Pax Imperia, it doesn't really matter, because it doesn't tell us anything about the fourthcoming game.
And the pentagram? Well, if you were to place 5 points around an open space, isn't it natural to place them with equal distance from each other? Voillà, you have yourself a pentagram!
One more thing; does the hidden picture/words/numbers (especially the numbers) tell us anything? Yeah, they do, as long as you want it to do. Once again most of you are fooled by the phenomenon of observer bias. As long as you're looking for Diablo related clues, you WILL find Diablo related clues.
So why don't we just sit down and wait for Saturday?
They going to have another Clue tomorrow, before the announcement, or this is the FINAL clue?
What I still can't understand is, those runes positions were already out of place(NOT forming a perfect pentagram Before today)... YET MORE people believed it's pentagram last couple days than people today!
Now, it's definitely the shape of pentagram, people today actually not as excited as Yesterday or day before yesterday regard this Pentagram thing... I don't get it! Runes been out of place already!
You guys are a Strange bunch!!!

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
A pentagram (sometimes known as a pentalpha or pentangle or, more formally, as a star pentagon) is the shape of a five-pointed star drawn with five straight strokes.
SHOW ME FIVE STRAIGHT STROKES AND IT'S A PENTAGRAM.
How is it being D3, a game that hasn't yet been announced, more far fetched than it being an announcement for WotLK beta, or the date when WotLK comes out, when we've known everything about WotLK for months now? Or it being a random protoss face (still no reason given why choose protoss over terran/zerg) from StarCraft 2, which already has been hyped up and announced, and has a teaser/intro video out as well?
Nowhere have they said WotLK is out "around Nov". Only official information on the subject is Vivendi's report on their revenues, stating it'll be out 2nd half of 2008. But why have a week-long hype for a beta, when WotLK is already in alpha and it clearly states in the message when logging on to WoW that no alpha spots are given out. Suddenly they'd open beta for everyone with a huge splash galore thingy before the WWI?
Makes no sense.
Why not hype SC2 and WoTLK beta? They haven't announced a beta yet for either, people who went to last years Blizzcon are STILL SITTING ON BETA KEYS!!!
It's called marketing and Blizzard is king of it. You get a bunch of people hyped up, get them believing what they want, get them to tune into Blizzcon via live stream, this itself will generate money from website hits along with the hits from people visiting the splash, and BOOM! You make your announcement for beta which will create more buzz about that game.
The only side affect is that you let down a bunch of D3 fans, but they should have already known over the many years that kept speculating it would come out and have been told it's not in development, that it wasn't going to be D3.
Here's to tomorrow and finally figuring this out, though.
Well the lower two runes are not in the same height, and the WoTLK rune is WAY too on the left, so you couldn't POSSIBLY draw a pentagram. Pentagram is a geometric figure, and you can't just pick any five dots you see and say that they could connect to a pentagram. Basically people who say it's a pentagram have either not gotten out of pre-school or are mentally retarded.

this is nothing blizzard is trying to throw us off....we have no idea what this is going 2 be yet and there is evidence for both games....pentagram d 3 and eyes lytch king
A glimpse into a dream come true.
We can only hope.
Im not saying thats whats behind it, but wouldnt that be fuckin' sweet
