From a poster who had created a new account, posted only one time, and listed himself from France. Perfect cover story to make it look like a real "leak" or some kind, I admit. But the quality of the work made me wonder if it could really be leaked.
I assume that people saying "it's fake!" were saying so based on something more tangible. Like the particular Diablo image he uses in the pics being from some other place, and just a hack cut/paste photoshop job with some minor color tweaks, etc.
I'm not saying it's real either. I'm just curious why it's being called fake.
Interesting and yet disturbing at the same time, my faith and my hopes has increased by 4 of the valenzetti equation. LOL
None of the clear images of the face can you see dots of snow, I repeat none. All you can see dots in is the parts you can see through.
Also the explding part does not hold with the image. If it exploded there would be additional damage to the ice around the hole, which there is not. It appears more to be melting. It would take longer to melt the outside then where the melting started.
unfortunately your theory is wrong. If we were moving through a cave the surrounding ice would not stay the exact same it would change along with the middle section which is opening/melting/exploding or whatever its doing. The first rune, and the first image that looked like an outline of mans face in the ice is still exactly where it was, and each rune that has appeared after has not shifted its position. If we were moving through a cave all of these would change. Not being a dbag or anything, just pointing out why i dont think your theory is correct.
Unless the runes are independant of the cavern and are simply superimposed to support the Blizzard IPs

Argue not with Dragons, for thou art crunchy and go well with ketchup.
How do you call it fake? Can someone please answer that? If the answer is just that "no one has come forward to claim it", could it not be argued that if it was someone either close to Blizzard or part of Blizzard they fear legal reprocusions for releasing these images/breaking NDA or whatever? If it was real, and I had leaked it, I would not go anywhere near taking credit.
I'm sorry to keep asking, but I just keep saying (very hostile) "OMG IT'S FAKE!" but no reasons for why it is fake? I would only expect that kind of reaction if it could be proven, conclusivley, to be fan work of somekind, or used images that have been around for a while and could easily be slapped together into that montage, etc.
The only one that is questionable is the one in the center, but given the details around at best it is questionable. The other parts are not part of the CLEAR outline details of the face. Do you even read the post before you quote it?
Let me preface this by saying if Diablo 3 were to be announced, it would instantly become my number 1 most wanted game...period. I hope to God that they do announce it, the same as everyone here.
That said, none of the clues imo given seem to point toward D3, save for the hel rune.
Yes the splash image is not the same picture as the lich king...but you know it could be another picture of him. Blizzard have been known to redraw main characters (e.g. Illidan) making them look different for WoW than they have in WC3. That is, at least, what I feel the main picture is of. Looking at it from a marketing sense that to me is what they are trying to advertise. WotLK is due out soon and they want to use this event to promote it, and the first thing any uniformed wow person is going to see when they check out news from this event is that splash image. They aren't going to see it and think "hey, maybe that guy in the picture there is from ANOTHER game!"
Granted, it could be argued that blizzard knows this and is just using the lich king as a front (for the uninformed) while provided clues to another game at the same time. And I do believe they are. The announcement that they are going to reveal a new game is evidence enough to warrant that being true. So the question on all of our minds is what is the new game?
So far, the clues pointed out in this thread are imo little evidence of Diablo 3. In fact, they could be taken as indicators to other games like The Lost Vikings. Sadly, no real reason to believe Diablo 3 is going to be announced exists yet...or is there?
Now, this is just speculation, but looking at the bigger picture another game is set to be released in the near future that could threaten blizzard's market-share IF successful. This game is one actually made by former Blizzard employees, and looks remarkably similar to Diablo. The game is Mythos, and it seems to be gaining a lot of praise from those who have played it. A real threat indeed, should everyone go to this game to get their Diablo fix on.
Timing is key, especially in the gaming industry, and the announcement of Diablo III couldn't be timed more perfectly. Mythos is gearing up to open it's beta to the masses right around now, and a major announcement like Diablo III would be like dropping a bomb on their project. It would steal a large portion of their prospective audience's interest. This tactic has already proven successful in the past, when Sony used the announcement of the PS2 to stamp out the Dreamcast. To me, announcing Diablo III here and now makes perfect sense, if only for this reason alone.
Like I said, this is just speculation on my behalf. Though I have been following the industry for years and I tend to be able to predict things with a fair amount of accuracy. So take that for what you will. I'll leave you with just one final thought, Dictionary's word of the day happens to be: harbinger.

It's fake because it rehashes an old diablo image, and blizzard doesn't rehash images.

Sorry I wasn't aware that you were the artist that drew it and new exactly what the fuck each thing was. Any and all speculation about what the image could be that doesn't come from you is obviously wrong.

Its not really exploding, but expanding.
And I will say you are blind too because you can clearly see dots of snow near is eyes and on his face.
