I tend to look at edyrem simply as the Torajian term for nephalem.
I don't perceive a difference in the two. I see the edyrem and nephalem being as one in the same; the only difference being the dialect from which each term originates.
Its a technical thing that depends on the definition of 'nephalem'. Generally, 'nephalem' refers to the power within humans. But more specifically, 'Nephalem' (lets give it a capital) refers to the first-generation of humans who were born with the power.
There is a clear difference between Nephalem and Edyrem. One is of the first generation, and one is not.

I believe that to be a matter of personal interpretation, which is fine.
I, myself, don't see a clear difference. I have seen nothing in the lore, thus far, that infers the term nephalem (used either as noun or pronoun) is a first-generation designation, only.
Use of edyrem over nephalem was a *choice* (referenced in the quote you provide above) -- made by Uldyssian, and hence, adopted by those who deigned him their leader.
I think you're right Atrumentis about the difference between the Nephalem, the Ancients and the Edyrems, but as to which is more powerful than the other, I think it's possible for any of them to achieve Uldyssian's rank as long as they truly want to... that is if they truly believe in the unlimited extents of their powers, and that's probably why angels like Imperius or Inarius want to destroy them or at least neutralize them so badly.
Maybe instead of 'regular user' under the rank, maybe we could come up with a way to create a name customed to when the user joined and post count per day? like "senior member" "active member" etc?
I wish people listened to me more often, the default would be user group. Group singular a singular collective, meaning it can be only one thing. User, Regular User, Member, Active Member, Forum Member, Bob, Frank, Steve, John, Diablo Fan, Poster, Fan Boy, Community Member, Participant.
The User Groups are;
Administrator (Red name)
Super Moderator (Blue name)
Moderator (Blue Name)
Regular User (Brown name)
That is the default. I can change it, but I can only change it to another single name (can be two or more words though).
Either we enable custom titles for all, something I might want to avoid for a little longer, (some very immature people here would put in something well immature and offensive) or we default it.
If I leave it the way it is it has the rank twice, once in the image as a rank and again by itself.

Looks very weird having it there twice.
The alternative it to restore the very first ranks, Junior Member Member Senior Member, but the user ranks pretty much do that for you (assuming there wasing to much spamming) and it says join date under the avatar.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
This also leaves the question: If the first-generation humans are Nephalem, and the Barbarians that are chosen and granted power to guard Mt Arreat are called Ancients, and Uldyssian's followers are called Edyrem.... what do we call the current genration? You know, those level 99 people who are stronger than the Prime Evils lol.
Technically, from what I can tell, the current humans are also Nephalem. Rathma clearly says that for each generation, the Nehpalem became weaker and weaker. Thus not only the first is considered Nephalem.
Obviously though, a rank called "First Generation Nephalem" is far too long and doesn't really add anything, so we might just as well cut it down.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Yeah, thats true. So, do you propose a different order, or leave it as it is? The inclination to put nephalem on top is because it can refer to the first-generation, while edyrem and ancient can not.
Edit: Oh yeah, can we have more of a gap between the ranks? And why is it that the upgrades to ranks requires less and less posts? Why isn't it even? I think it should be like every 500 or so posts you can a new rank. Because 10 posts is such a short time to be a Zakarumite for. Is there a reason why its the way it is? To immitate the in-game leveling system?

I wondered that too. I guess it gives noobs a reason to post more. *shrug* Imitating the diablo leveling system is a good reason though
If you know the ranks, Zakarumite > Faithful, and you consider the majority of people here, it might occur to you that a dissappointing amount of people do not have more than 10 posts, and further more, any who get over 10 often become "faithful" member here.

Well the reason i joined the site was to make one post on some random thread and after a while i started postng at least 4 times a day! I think if people give the site more than a glance then they will be HOOKED.
So this is to be the ranks then (once Que-Hegan gets spelt correctly)? Or should Nephalem and Ancient be switched around? and Edyrem made the final rank?
Would look like this when it's finished.

These icons have to be saved somewhere, and I don't really want to mess with anyting so Jetrall might have to save them to the site's server or whatever, I would use photobucket as it would work, but should PH go down, so to would the ranks. Not a very good move there.
Also, feel free to suggest ranks be extented or shortened, if you feel 3000-4999 is not enough, or too many, say so.

Is it possible to change the text color of the title (i.e., 'Administrator' in the above)?
The default yellow looks kinda bland in between the rank graphic and the avatar.
If possible...
Maybe emerald?

Or amethyst?

Even orange looks sharper than the drabness of the yellow.
I would need an expert on vbulletin's oppinion into the matter, but I would image font colour tags are possible, so prehaps.

What say you?
I'm sure we can come up with better colors than these: o o o
-------------------
Why not add coloring to the text in the pic where it says 'cantor' or 'sexton'? Maybe the same dark-gold from D2? It looks too pain the way it is now.

Anyway, I think you're just pushing the orange colour for Nephalem just because it suits your avatar and overall color scheme.

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Btw, has anyone noticed that there seems to be a graphical error on them? There is an extra layer of pixels on the top right corner. Do you want me to fix it, or does it look stylistic? I'll upload a fixed image so you can compare.
And, what happened to the one-post wonder thread? If it was deleted, I'm assuming it wasn't acceptable.

p.s. could we get a different quest icon for sexton? all others have jewels and that one seems plain - unless we need the gidbinn for some reason.
