I am not voting for McCain moreso than I am voting against Obama. Tax hikes and frikkin' universal health care? No, thanks. Obama wants to punish the rich for being wealthy, lol. He says he won't increase income taxes for people who make under $250,000, but doesn't tell you that there are numerous other taxes that he WILL raise.
If you want to live in a socialist country, vote Obama.
Where I live, all of my state's electoral votes are going to be Republican. Republicans understand this to the point that even they don't campaign here. I'm not voting for McCain or Obama, but rather for Nader. Partly because of his policies, but also for the sake of diversity. I'm fed up with politicians and two party system that dominates U.S. politics.
The only difference between the Republicans and Democrats is that the Republicans want to spend as much, but pay for it all later, while the Democrats want to spend an equal amount and pay for it now.
I guarantee you if the ballots had an option on it that allowed you to choose, "None of the above" then that option would get the majority vote.
Well, since you understand that America is a two-party system and probably will be for a long time. Why not vote for the lesser of two evils where your vote counts? Like I said, I don't like either candidates but I know that my vote will count.
Saddest thing, my grandfather is a democratic who was an electrician in a union, but he's voting for McCain. Why? Because he's a racist, absolutely pathetic.

Yeah, I hate that too.
I want people to vote, but not for the wrong reasons. Idiots think Obama is a Muslim, or that he swore in on the Quran, or doesn't say the Pledge of Allegiance. And when you provide facts and evidence that refutes all those statements, they just say "Yes, he is a Muslim/ swears on the Quran/ doesn't say PoA."
How the FUCK can you argue with someone like that? Better to just throw them off a bridge.

Saying he is a communist should clear it up for people, but noo..

He's not a communist, stop spewing ignorant bullshit.
On a side note, anyone catch McCain's policy on healthcare? He wants give a $5,000 dollar rebate but at the same time, he wants to tax Healthcare. Obama said it perfectly last night, "With one hand he giveth, and with the other, he taketh."

Except our votes don't count. Electoral colleges make the decision who runs our country, our vote is just the popularity contest, quite literally.
Quote from "Ody" »
Well, Obama's policy resemble socialism.
Do you know what Socialism is? Or Communism? Or Marxism? Any of the above?
On a slightly related note my Grandmother made me laugh hard the other day. She said she had heard Obama is the anti-christ, and when I asked how she knew this, she said that someone told her he was born in China and it says the anti-christ will be of a eastern birth in the bible.
I just looked at her and burst out laughing.
Now if you don't see why this is funny by now, the president HAS to be born in America.
That just shows what kind of slander gets spread and people actually believe and repeat it.
IF I was voting, it'd be for Obama, but it just seems like they have a recount until they get the decision they want anyway so <shrugs>.

Yeah, I know about the electoral college (Bush/Gore FTL) and if you don't think Obama's policies don't resemble socialism then you're mistaken. He wants wealth distribution, and higher tax hikes for the rich, and universal health care. He WANTS everyone the same. Tell me if I am wrong here.
I guess it depends on what you want for this country. If you prefer your taxes to go into war and into bailouts, not the education of children or help for the poor, your pick. I am appalled that a rich country such as America cannot give its citizens a college education or healthcare that's not ridiculously expensive. If any of this is socialist to you, you are calling most European countries socialist, and they have much higher life expectancies that we do, among other things. You may want to read up on socialism. Universal healthcare is positive in all directions. But it won't happen, neither under Obama nor McCain. Yes, he wants to tax the rich. What do you want? For the poor to keep getting poorer? Do lawyers, insurance companies, marketing companies, and big businesses are the sort of people you think deserve most money? I thought it was always the middle class that got into most trouble.

Considering that the unemployment rate in America is 6%, which is a historical low, I don't see how the "poor" will get poorer. And universal healthcare is not positive in all directions, and to just implement this into the American system would be horrible. Do you want to wait forever to get your surgery done but you can't because the hospital is booked on people who have colds or "mysterious" aches?
And I don't know where you get your information about America not giving citizens a college education when there are literally thousands and thousands of scholarships and grants and other programs for underprivileged kids.
Oh and by the way, the people who are poor, or middle-class, ANYWHERE in the world, is because of their own choices. If they are poor, it's because they are too dumb to plan ahead. Even in America, the main reasons why so many banks are being bought up is because they gave out loans to dumbass people who couldn't afford them. And those people DESERVE to get their house foreclosed upon (even though only 0.6% of houses are getting foreclosed, but you can thank the media for sensationalism). If people are living paycheck to paycheck, that ALREADY indicates they are living outside of their means. Move into an apartment, don't buy Starbucks everyday, take the bus. But no, people in general are just too dumb to plan.

Granted I'm an American citizen (which I am not), here are my 2 cents.
I wouldn't vote for either in support and I won't vote for one to spite the other. I'll never vote for someone whom I disagree with almost entirely just because I disagree with the other guy more. I doubt the day will ever come that I can vote for someone I both like and who stands a reasonable chance of winning. Before that could ever happen, the majority of people would not only have to change their fundamental ideals about what government should and shouldn't do for them, but also about what they should do for themselves and each other. It's easier for someone to pick the clique they disagree with the least and ride that bandwagon to their own demise than it is for them to think for themselves. The desire, however subconscious it may be, to become a part of something larger than yourself is universal. The same basic things that divide people politically also divide them economically and religiously. Namely, fear and comfort. People sacrifice knowledge for comfort and freedom for security, all along not realizing that the road they've so willfully taken is the same road they fought to avoid; and thus the cycle continues and public opinion changes ever so slightly from one dogmatic ideology to the next as history is forgotten and only nostalgia remains. I have no reasonable expectation for that to change anytime soon.
If I am not mistaken, you have the option of writing that on the ballot as your choice, which is what I plan to do.
It varies from state to state. We have a write in option on our ballots, but with a name on it it can just get thrown out. It needs to be an option the exact same way the other candidates are options. So if it was a punch card, the option to vote none of the above should also be punchable and not a write in thing.
A banal statement devoid of critical thought designed to be emotive and provocative.
You do realize that the main staple of the Democratic party is more legislature to regulate various aspects of America, right? Regulation by government is socialism. Nothing wrong with socialism in the right doses, but taking it to an extreme is also wrong.
I'd also like to ask you: when you lower income from citizens, where does the needed money come from?
LoL, you actually brought up Obama's webpage which isn't biased at all. I mean, a candidate wouldn't be biased on his own political webpage, right? I am not going to read sources that are from the candidate's own webpage and Wikipedia.
Like I said, he wants to punish the rich for being successful. That is wealth distribution. How is this not socialist? How is the government intervening in the private sector NOT socialist? Do I even need to list the abject failure of government interference in the private enterprise?

It's a spectrum. You want to make it black and white in order to cultivate ignorance and fear.
They call this a cop-out.
