I gave it a 9. There was nothing wrong with it, but a 10 out of 10 means the movie strikes a chord with you. A perfect movie is something that you want to see over and over again, and is something you can relate to. Horror movies don't do that, and neither do comedies, which is why they don't usually get good ratings.
A 10/10 would be something like The Fellowship of the Ring. <--- That was the perfect movie.

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
Other details where things like when the group climbed the stairs, you could see how their strength faded, going from fast to mad to plain beaten while climbing the stairs. Some other movies actually portrait people running up 50 flights of stairs and not looking out of breath, here they did.
I liked that too. I wonder if they actually made them climb all of those floors. JJ has been known to have a few weird shooting habbits.

The explosions sometimes appeared fuzzy on screen, and the background lighting when they initially started fleeing the city was too orange in my opinion, although that may have been more accurate than I imagine.
That is exactly what real light looks like on camera. We are used to all of the movies having perfect lighting.
For instance, this is from the Cloverfield set, lit for a night shot.
And this is for a night shot for a normal film.
See the difference?
Don't get me started on LOTR. Sure they were good, but they weren't perfect 10's. Okay, maybe the first was, but the last one... HELL NO!! 40 minutes of crap at the end.
Cloverfield was awesome, I love the whole home video recorder thing it makes the movie feel more realistic, though it was kind of hard to believe at some points because you could obviously tell that they were acting.

-My Position on Black Metal: "So you know those annoying kids you see running around listening to crap radio rock bands wearing tripp jeans and shopping at hot topic? Well, Black Metal is just the next big thing... have fun with your trends, I'm gonna stay metal"
though it was kind of hard to believe at some points because you could obviously tell that they were acting.
I would agree with this. More so with the male actors than the female actors.
Lizzy played her part (Marlena) to perfection, in my mind. Didn't see her end-scene comin' until right before it happened.
And then, I was still -- WTF just happened?
The thing that splashed into the ocean was a satellite. If you followed the pre-movie hype, you would have found out about this company called Slusho. This company makes slushies, and they get their secret ingredient from the bottom of the ocean. The company uses satellites in space to find these pockets of the secret ingrediant, and one of their satellites just happened to fall out of the sky, splashing into the ocean, hitting the sea bottom, and waking up the creature.
8/10... it was decent but idk the monster could have been better... a monster with those legs and shit wouldnt have been able to support itself lol... and when its in the city it looks fuckin huge and when its near them it looks way smaller... idk 8 because cool camera angles and lots of action
Ok, I really liked this movie, but does it have kind of an open ending or am I just not comprehending something?
Edit: nvm, I read this off wikipedia
The film cuts to Rob and Beth's Coney Island date, during which a distant object can be seen falling from the sky into the ocean accompanied by a faint noise similar to that heard when the monster first arrives.[6] After the credits roll, a garbled radio sound clip can be heard. It sounds like someone whispering "Help us," but when played backwards, the audio says, "It's still alive".[7]

I am not a fan of Jazz music.
on a good day.... Optimistic and freedom-loving Jovial
and good-humored Honest and straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical
On a bad day.... Blindly optimistic and careless
Irresponsible and superficial Tactless and restless
I especially loved the innovative creature and the story behind it as it's not some evil super duper bug trying to conquer/destroy the world. Also loved the scene at the end where you can see how it came to Earth in such a subtle manner.
for the nth time
That was a satellite falling from space that you see at the end of the movie. Not the actual creature itself.
I'll give it a 6. Good idea.... little too long winded for me.

I didn't care for the ending where it flashes back to two weeks earlier and the chick says something about a good day but I thought the rest of it was pretty good. 8-9/10.
A 10/10 would be something like The Fellowship of the Ring. <--- That was the perfect movie.
