Just saw it. Thought it was decent. Didn't like some aspects of it. Im not going to say anything else about it unless any of you other guys saw it. I dont want to spoil it. But if so, let me know and we will discuss.
It felt like you were right in the middle of the action. Especially, when the military was attacking. I loved that aspect of it. I thought the "smaller" monsters were pretty stupid, and when that girl basically blew up.

I didn't have a problem with the smaller monsters or when Marlena blew up. My biggest problem with the film was the camera it was like watching that peice of trash blair witch project. I understand why Abrams did it that way I just don't see a reason to have all 90 minutes in crappy shakey handheld camera vision.
Loved it, Loved everything except the smaller monsters, obviously this thing was left open for a sequal so i think we will learn more if they do a sequal
btw im changin thread name to warn of spoilers
it was pretty crowded there at the theather my girl and i sat pretty close....i liked it, but she was gettin dizzy and feeling sick from the constant shaking of the camera
i think im seeing it again tomorrow with some friends
It was masterfully filmed. There was talk that there may have been other movies made during the monster attack, so a sequel, could really be another found camera. The same timeline, just shot from a different point of view.
While I don't like that idea personally, it's an interesting idea.
Also, Abrams himself stated that the monster was in fact just a baby and had lived in the ocean for thousands of years.
Yeah. the filming was like anything ive ever seen. I thought it was absolutely extraordinary. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie. It was very thrilling. I might bump up the original score I gave it. Everytime I think about it I like it more and more.
Actually, I feel that the shaky camera made the movie. If it was still camera following the people, you wouldn't have gotten the same effect. The shaky hand held camera allowed for both a sense of being in the action and an atmosphere of panic in the movie. If it was still cameras panning the action, this movie, imo, would have melted in with all the rest of the monster movies out there.

also after the bombs were droped on hiroshima in japan many years the only thing that would grow there was fields of clovers
since no one knows when the tape was found and since nyc was bombed hard to at end (operation hammerdown) its possible only clovers were growin in nyc as well
i still think a sequal will answer this
also goodguy, plz link to where abrams said the beast lived in the ocean for thousands of years...if thats true wat fell outta the sky in the backround of the carnival shots and into the ocean?
I was downloading this movie, but I couldn't find a good copy. Then I googled the movie and found this:
I'm sorry.. But if I wanted a movie about a retared mutant whale I'd watch Free Willie. Seriously.. What is that? It doesn't look mean at all. It looks fangry(fat and angry) It looks like Orga with fins and a blank stare. I don't even feel like trying to redownload the movie. A whale with legs and eight fins a monster does not make.

Yep. This is exactly how I felt about it. About 45 minutes into it my girlfriend went to the bathroom and started throwing up cause she was so carsick from it. Being that I play a lot of video games, I had a bit of a higher tolerance for the shaky camera work. But it was starting to give me a serious headache. And as we were getting our money back for the movie, there were a few other people who were doing the same thing as us.
My girlfriend said that there was even someone else throwing up in the one of the stalls next to her, presumably from the movie.
So yeah, to a point I can also understand why Abrams wanted to do this whole camcorder thing, but even for that I don't think it was well done. I think there are ways to make film look kind of raw and unscripted without having to get fucking pissed off at the cameraman. And the whole entire time when the city was under attack, that annoying guy was just, "Rob, rob, we gotta get out of here Rob. Rob, there's some crazy shit going down, Rob. Oh my God, Rob! Rob. Rob?" Seriously it was annoying. So we got to the part when there was on octupus on a building and spiders were falling off of it and killing soldiers then we had to leave cause my girlfriend was just way to sick from it.
Ooh, I almost forgot though. The highlight of seeing this film was I got to see the Star Trek trailer. I wanted to cry I was so happy.
Is that not it? If not I'll give it another go. I didn't look much into the sketch.
That is absolutely nothing like the monster. Not even a little.
Star Trek is gay and Cloverfield was well done. Anyone who thinks it should have been shot from a different point of view should be sterilized as it makes for just another stupid Godzilla type movie.
Lol. As long as it's not that retarded whale thing. I jsut can't find a good copy to download >.< And I really don't wunna go see it in the theater(If you knew what the theater was like in my town you'd understand lol)

I hated it even more when the only still moments were when they were filming Nokia ads.
Would have been an awesome movie if I didn't feel sick from watching it.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
