I hadn't heard that. I hope they don't screw it up, I haven't trusted Hollywood for years now.
I suspect there's little to no news on this though?.
There's a tentative title, Star Trek 11.
I'm quite wary about this new film. It's actually going to be a prequel about Kirk when he was just out of the academy. Don't worry though, we won't have to see Shatner's fat ass trying to pull it off, the entire cast is going to be new with maybe a few cameos from previous Trek films. The reason I'm a little disappointed is that there has already been lots of prequel content in the form of Enterprise. And I had read a bunch of interviews from producers that they are kind of doing a major overhaul of the look and feel of Star Trek which led me to believe that the new movie could only be one that takes place after Star Trek 10. It just seems if you're going to renovate Star Trek, that it would be better to move forward. Enterprise managed to pull it off cause it was way before Kirk's era even and so it was excusable that the ships looked so different.
I'm a little worried on that mmo though. They really seem to be taking their time developing it, but who knows, that could be a good sign too.
Supposedly, the company was working on two MMOs for awhile, the other one about Rome, but they eventually scrapped it due to not meeting quality standards and started putting all their resources into the Star Trek MMO.
Who knows if it will be any good or not. But the possibilities, of all the races you could be as well as types of Starfleet officers and working your way up to commanding your own ship. The gameplay could be very interesting, but only fun to play if they pull it off just right. An MMO seems a lot easier if you're playing on a single world like in WoW, but to be able to explore the Alpha Quadrant. Weeeee!
It seems that the developer has passed on the liscense and the content, but not the code for the game. I guess that means they have the rights and the idea/story/settings for the game but no actual game.
Star Wars also seems to struggle with moving forward. I wish Star Trek wasn't having the same problem as of late. But I do have high hopes for this next movie. But you remember how high my hopes were with Nemesis and how disappointed I was when it was over. A fun movie, sure. But could've easily been so much better.
The guy playing Scotty in the Star Trek prequel's gonna be that main guy from Shawn of the Dead.
