I am hearing that the Golden Compass is doing horrible in the States but is doing well in other countries. Can't go against the christians around here, they'll have you banned.
Narnia sucked ass too, and I think that has some christian references. Harry Potter wasn't very biblical or christian, and it did quite well (I never liked any of the first three movies I actually saw, damn elitest english.) So its not exactly that its christian or not, its more of what the crowd/mob has a taste for.
Without a doubt you have to make sure that you are producing movies that are going to sell. I have just heard a lot about people hearing on the news weather or not the movie, The Golden Compass, was acceptable for christian children to watch, that was why I mentioned it.

Yea, it's not really the christians. It just sucks that bad. When I was forced to see it afterwards me and my friends (christians and atheists alike) laughed so hard at it's epic fail.
It is acceptable for christians. But the second and third books in the series aren't. The first one I believe was purposely meant to draw people in. Then the real anti christian feelings begin in the other books. That is what I have heard.
I thought you meant that America was a christian society, and thats just not the case anymore. I myself am looking forward to AVP2, I'm so sick of disappointing movies where there is ALWAYS a happy ending. I don't usually like really gore-filled movies, but this actually looks like it has a decent plot and some good effects.
And no, you have to make a good movie. Make a good movie, and it will sell. People will rave about it, tell their friends, stuff like that. I've begun to hate how we are told left and right to watch this movie because its going to be the best ever, even though its very clear it isn't once you watch it.
Narnia was supposed to be the next best thing after LoTR, but instead we got horrible props, horrible plot, and horrible acting. The CGI animals were the best actors!!
LoTR is the best example of what a good movie is, good acting, good production, and great plots. They do a good job of transitioning from one plot to another and cutting out peices from the book story, which I liked. And that doesn't even mention the great action.
LoTR did not have to work with child actors though. That is always something that has to figure in. I did find Narnia to be rather dissapointing though.
As far as America being a Christian society that depends on your location. There are still more Christians in America than any other faith, but there are less overall church goers every day.

No not always. There are plenty of good child actors, the best I've seen was Will Smith's kid in "Pursuit of Happiness". There are plenty out there though, even if they aren't as good as that kid. The fact that those kids were the worst ever doesn't change.
I hope that they will make another alien vs predator, that was a great movie, but I don't think the second movie was as good. It was alright but I thought that was the first time they showed how the aliens made the people pregnant.

I, in general liked AvP-R . It followed the storyline I expected it to follow but I liked it anyway. That is not to say it was a bad movie but I don't think it was quite as good as the first one. The negatives I suppose is the expected blood, guts and carnage the two main characters inflict on us poor humans, and the repeating of the plot(aliens, predators killing everyone). The positives, depending on your point of view, how well they do the plot(and how well you like these type of movies), the predator's neat new gadgets(and don't forget the cloaking device, a sucker device for me if there ever was one), and of course any plot surprises ? like how did that general know what was going on and have photos of the alien and the secret company that seems to know all about these creatures and collects things they leave behind (sort of) like the predator's pistol.
And there ladies and gentlemen you have my second post, it just took me a couple of months to do it

The first one was okay at best. The second one was sheer rubbish. And you hope they make a third one? Don't you see a kind of downfall pattern here?
You might never know. They could actually make a good movie, but they probably will get a better if they get a better director. they probably would need a new and better plot. They should get us.lol.

Any crossover movie is going to have a difficult time having a good plot. I mean, if I wanted to get really nerdy about it, I would start demanding to know why people in the Alien movies acted all surprised at discovering these Aliens when clearly other humans had found them first on Earth. But I've never exactly felt strongly about Alien or Predator lore so I'm not gonna go there really. But these kinds of movies these days are not about compelling plot and dialogue. It's all there really to dazzle you with special effects with the added bonus of rooting for your favorite franchise over another. Personally, I always want Aliens to win.
Speaking of likely shitty movies, anyone see the preview for the new Rambo movie? Holy crap, poor Stallone. Does he have no clue to the disservice he's doing himself by making another Rocky and Rambo movie? I mean, he's a pretty rich guy isn't he? Unless he has a serious drug or gambling problem. He should just wisely invest his money so he doesn't have to worry about making these movies for cash and quietly retire as an actor.

Alice - july 2008
Max Payne - 2010
AvPr was quite random at the start and end. The ending was incredibly stupid. They just bomb the town? WHAT THE FUCK? What bullshit is that?
There's obviously going to be a third one though, if you watch teh ending.
