i got bit tired to discuss it too. I stated in many other posts how against this "anti-terror" campaign i was and why. There's not really much more to add. I'll keep an eye on this thread tho.
yea, i saw this thread a while ago, and i was preparing a comment, but yea. im too tired with politics right now, so ill take a rain check. mostly because im the only one who talks my views, usually a debate against several other people. 1 vs 3 can get you kinda tired. :|
im not much of a bush fan....i dont really know how we are supposed to discuss him as a president without opinions. opinions are about all there is, as far as politics go.
i can still say positive things about him, though. in the state of the union address he not only didnt say anything incredibly stupid (well besides claiming that nclb actually works but thats beside the point), but he didnt make himself out to be a monkey! :-D
this is my view on polotics. the biggest waste of time, money, and intelligence in the United States or anywhere else. All its about is greed, power and more greed its that simple there no other way to put it....plz make no more political threads they are annoyin.

while i have to agree with you that politics have become a waste...you are reacting to them in exactly the opposite way of what you should be. by giving the attitude of "politics are stupid i dont want to hear about them" you shun the issue, and that will never get anything done. all you accomplish is forfeiting your right to an opinion.
just out of curiosity....do you vote?
because im going to be honest...there is nothing more wasteful and useless than someone who complains about politics but doesnt vote.

this is an issue i gotta address. you are on the ball about this duncan. *sigh* (here we go...)
people that think politics are all just corruption and greed are stupid. if you live in a democracy you are retarded to use this logic. reason?? well here it is:
"demos"=people "cracy"=power. the people have the power, and those that people elect are the ones that are people think would run the country the best.
YOU have the power, no matter what you think or are told. a "ballot" is where you impose your power. maybe you've heard of voting.
politics will be what it is, or will get worse until people grow tired of it. remember the American Revolution?? the king wanted to make a little extra money on products grown and made here. we grew tired of being robbed of our money and we overthrew the british. the #1 world power. that is the power of the people.
get involved in politics if your sick of them. if you think they really are that bad, stand up for your country, it needs you!!! George Washington, American President #1, had no intentions of being president. in fact, he really wanted to NOT be president. but he knew that the country needed a hero, a leader. and who better than the man that led them to victory? SPEAK!!!
if you really do believe in such things, just shut up and keep your opinions to yourself. whats the point of freedom of speech if you wont use it?
*breathes deeply*
damn people, seriously. this applies for everyone in all spectrums of politics. doesnt matter if your conservative or liberal. (im conservative) it doesnt matter if you hate politics or love it. it doesnt matter if your gay, straight, lesbian, female, male, child, adult, teenager, poor, rich, white, black, hispanic, asian-decent, or whatever. if you have an opinion you stand up, speak it, and defend it. you make necessary adjustments to it, or change it according to your morals and believes.
lol, Carloserus. American media works well on you. Government is always bad, always. But you have no choice but to choose either democracy or socialism. And then that is going to stay until people grow really fed up with it and crush it.
i hate the media. all the show is gloom and doom. oh, more and more people are dying everyday... oh that black guy is being discriminated, oh that girl was raped. when are we going to get the good news? re-evaluate this, because the media only wants you to vote if you're voting for THEIR agenda. why do you think that illegal immigrants marching was so controversial? because some took their side, others didnt. same with the war, though no one is for the war in the media. not one channel sides with the war, just the soldier.
i also hate the media for not showing the whole picture, just the bad. and where there is good news, its small and swayed to the point that they want to make, which is usually negative. news should be unbiased, not the crap we see. so dont call me something i want nothing to do with.
But you have no choice but to choose either democracy or socialism. And then that is going to stay until people grow really fed up with it and crush it.
it doesnt even feel like that, it feels more like picking the lesser evil. which shouldnt be the case. thats why we should vote for someone out of democrats and republicans, because that would send a clear signal that those two have not been doing their jobs.
No point of hating the media. It is just there. Simply ignore it. Throw the TV out, for instance... nothing to see on it anyway... I prefer to hear opinions from people like you then a TV screen.
Yeah, media won't tell you that some professor in college found out that DCA repairs cancer cells.
Picking either democracy or socialist is picking the lesser evil. Democracy is overly concentrated on people, and people are too easy to control. Socialism gives too much power to the government and turns in a dictatorship very quickly... democracy is a lot better, at least it allows a nation to exist properly. But democracy is not too good.
that actually reminds me of something that i found sort of morbidly humorous. i saw this thing on the news the other day, about how there are bills all around the country with people in this huge uproar about making "salvia" - a hallucinogen that was never popular enough until recently for people to care enough to make it illegal - illegal. their reasoning was that it has effects much like the drug lsd, only to a lesser extent and only lasting between 10 minutes or an an hour, depending on the dose (when you take it you feel like its been hours though). they claimed to have evidence of how dangerous it was, and their "evidence" was that it was implicated in the suicide of one teenager in...rhode island i think?
as i watched this, i became enraged. why? well, consider this. how many people does smoking cigarettes kill yearly? or, even more so, how many people die unexpectedly in accidents directly caused by alcohol abuse? i cannot come up with specific figures for either, but i will say cigarettes and alcohol kill thousands upon thousands yearly. and there was this huge issue spreading all over the country because ONE KID may have killed himself due to salvia.
the media has some incredibly screwed up priorities...and the government does, too.
Picking either democracy or socialist is picking the lesser evil.
agreed, since none of them both is used as originally planned.
Democracy is overly concentrated on people, and people are too easy to control.
couldnt agree more.
Socialism gives too much power to the government and turns in a dictatorship very quickly...
discribes in a few words what happened to the most (if not all) countries that practically tried to use socialism.
democracy is a lot better, at least it allows a nation to exist properly. But democracy is not too good.
now on this final comment i cant say i agree completely. The thing about these systems is that they're based on rules that have to be followed for them to work well. Most (if not all) of the times in a democratic country media manipulates the crowd (people aka "demos") and takes control of the power - bends the rules and turns this system upside down. The original and only real Democracy was in ancient Athens, a state-town in ancient Greece around 500bC. Low population of citizens allowed to vote made it possible for them to decide. What we have today is the so called "Oligarchy". Where the few "oligoi" rule "archon" (or sort of it). Anyway socialism as originally planned wasnt as bad either. Its based on equality as an idea. Main bad thing is what our friend Equinox explained with the few words i quoted some lines before.
Now of the thing we can do to change it... open our eyes and yell against those who we know that break the rules. Make the system work as it should.
"open our eyes and yell against those who we know that break the rules." - wrong term used, "our". Their, I'm afraid. And one problem with a government where officials are elected - they become dependent on the population's opinion. Population's opinion is not always right... but the official knows - if he does or does not do something, the population won't elect him again. So he starts to do all sorts of needles stuff just to keep the position. 4 years is not enough to do something.
Not to mention the fact that it is not that much clear regarding who is breaking rules and how. We may think Bush is a bastard, but is he? Anyone ever do a lengthy research on it all?
And we really don't have a small population here...
Ok fine i derserved that but really right now politcs are pretty corupt and they will more than likey aways be...Oh and just for the record i vote one anything and everything i can and as for american democracy i wouldn't change if i could we are what we and by saying that i dont like politcs i exersized my free speech. For you to tell me different your are doin exactly what you dont want to and that is your trying to opress... think about it.
lets just go in and kill all them dudes with the laundry on their heads and leave that poor country george bush sux and thats it. drop the a-bomb and leave em alone.
what makes me mad is how the media only shows the bad things, everyday i wake up watching some kid overdosing, a school shooting or a rapist, it makes me feal like im in a shithole
in athens they have a word for people who dont vote, that word translated to english is idiot, people complain about the people in charge yet over 50% of the people dont vote... why? because they think their opinions dont matter, that is 200,000,000 votes that could go against president
im not sure but i think that their opinion matters

But I don't think I'm totally against it. I don't support it either. Neutral you could say, in old fashioned Swedish style
