It is 320x480, I made my own wallpaper ( my head phoyoshoped like in my photo ) in that resolution, but I can not remember that there is limit of size or not. I prefer theme than wallpaper anyway.
One question, can the iphone recognize all file types, gif, jpeg, jpg, png and so on? if so i can just leave them as PNG's unless otherwise jpgs. Please Let me know, as im making some of the fiery runes series for the i-phone for you guys.

I can't find any for sure information on it but it's a pretty high tech piece of equipment, I'm sure it can use PNG. To be safe though I'd say JPG is your best bet.
Yeah that resolution smoeone mentioned above is correct. Yeah JPG, PNG, probably GIF, probably BMP and PICT, probably TIFF.... but yeah might as well stick with PNG or JPG.
The trick with an iPhone wallpaper is to take advantage of how it's layed out on the screen. It only really shows when the screen is locked, and it shows some user interface elements over the top and bottom edges.. here are acouple pics that illustrate how it's shown:
Only problem is I can't seem to take a screenshot in that mode so i can't figure out exactly how many pixels high have the translucent overlay at the top and bottom.
Thanks for the pics, the way i had the walls set up would have looked a little bad, i had the fiery runes art in the top center, rather than the middle. Thanks for that, gunna rework these and see what i come up with in the next day or so!
if not, guess I might have to make some up...
