For PvP to work in this game, it would have to be a completely different beast, i.e skills work differently, different damages, etc... Zones like battle zones would be perfect for this. If it ends up adjusting PvE for PvP balance, it will simply upset a lot of fans, especially HC players who would see nerfs/adjustments for the sake of PvP, which really would be sad to see.
I hope Blizz, if they do implement this, does it right. It cannot turn into WoW and seeing larger PvE changes due to PvP.
It's nice to see that we got more feedback on that matter. Although I don't share their point of view of "Make everyone happy with a single system". Why not release different systems that appeal to different people rather than scrapping what they've got after 7 months?
I couldn't agree more. This way the pvp mode can better accepted and, as a bonus, there would be something new and different to do in pvp.
What ever they are working on its about time that something new is coming. I see more and more people getting bored of the existing conntent reaching plvl 100 or something and then der isn't much left to do. And I'm not talking of hardcore gamer they where at this point a long time ago. Its more guys like me playing for 2-3h a day and perhaps a couple more on Weekends if you like to reach plvl 90 or whatever.

Can't you see the obvious? It's so simple to understand. That's because... because... I mean, it's obvious they can't... that people ple wouldn't,.... And there is that mechanic problem which is... And surely, I mean....
Yeah, there is way out of that argument. Jaywilsoned...
What an excellent way to get the community involved. Kudos, diablofans. I'm not all that much into PvP myself but it would be a neat thing to try if a battleground-type thing was implemented in D3. Some kind of big 10 v 10 thing where you have a bunch of players going at it.
Though it would cause many a player to wonder; if we can have 10-20 people on the screen at once with all their abilities flying, would it not be possible and probable, then, to let 8 people join a regular game as it was in D2? If I recall correctly, one of the main reasons they went with 4 was to reduce the amount of stuff flying everywhere.
Battlegrounds would seem to me to kinda go backwards on that. Though who knows, Blizzard IS known to come up with some good ideas. Maybe they've still got a few left.
They dont even tryhard...
10 Month for Dueling is a Joke.
I would have come with better Ideas.
Just thing about it: I can't even beleave they group up every week to discuss devprogress. They most likely monkey around all the time or something.
Honestly, what kind of pvp would I enjoy for Diablo 3? Blood Moore. Allow up to 10 players at a time and let them ally/unally as they please. A sandboxy style where people can hang out, actually talk to one another and enjoy pvp in its most raw form.. This does not have to be the primary form of pvp, sandbox games are not for everybody. This would merely be an easy addition to add content that would make the game feel much less lonely.

I must be in the minority, but I couldn't really care less about PVP in Diablo. I just don't play it to deal with people other than my friends I party with. It won't matter to me either way if they add battlegrounds or not. Meh.
I'm not sure if Bg's would be that interestingly viable in Diablo. Everytime I think of organized PvP, mostly just FFA Arena comes to mind with different t hemes prizes for the winner. Like demon, angel, or Horadrim themed gear depending on the actual arena scheme/setting. It would also be cool to be able to take a caravan to these kind of "arena lobbies" where each PvP server would hold maybe...100-200 people and they would que up to which themed arena setting they would like.
I don't know, just a thought after reading the Blue's PvP mumblings up there.

Just enable the beta 'arenas' and let the people decide.
I love the idea of a DOTA-style PVP feature, though. That could work very well.
