I would like Act 1 slightly better if you were given Halls of Agony level 3 but I guess that would be too easy. However, the drops are simply better in Act 2 if you have the gear.
Why would you want a HoA3 way point? You lose the warden (and up to 3 rares on his level, plus a goblin). And 2 rares in HoA3. Plus all the rares/goblins in 1 and 2. HoA levels are very small and have a good number of rares.
I disagree. Load up The Black Soulstone. Take the waypoint to Zultan and hit up his chambers. You can usually get 5 stacks between the 2 chambers unless you get the rare pack of baneling guys. Kill Zultan after the 5-stack, tp back to town and start the quest for Belial (go to the bazaar to start the event) and then tp back to town again.
From here you can take any waypoint you choose. Ancient paths has a chance to get a goblin, road to alcarnas, sewers, all have rare packs in them. Farm packs until you're blue in the face and tp back to town to kill Belial. He always has a rare pack right before his entrance too.

I dunno. I see this run and I counter you with:
Quest 9 (enter the cursed hold).
Clear out weeping hollow. (4-6 elites and a goblin)
3 crypts (up to 6 elites and 3 goblins).
Festering woods (4 elites, 2 dungeons 2 elites, random event 1 elite and a goblin)
Fields of Misery (only if you get the mine or the scavenger's den) - 4 elites each and a possible goblin
southern highlands : 4 elites, up to 2 dungeons (up to 10 elites!), and 2 goblins
northern highlands : 2 elites and a dungeon (up to 4 elites) and a goblin
leoric's manor (1 elite, possible 1 inside)
HoA: maybe 10 elites? - 2 goblins
Cursed halls: 2-3 elites, and a boss and maybe a goblin
Butcher
Maybe even finish off with cathedral 1-4 (around 10 more elites and up to 3 goblins)
I think it might come down to a time/efficiency (and boredom) thing. Act 1 sucks cuz it's so boring and near impossible to die when you overgear it. Act 2 sucks cuz, well, it sucks. Too many ninja mobs. And those act 2 dungeons are miserable.
Hell sucks cuz it's so boring and near impossible to die when you overgear it.
I just edited your post as to what D2 is like and yet that never stopped it. If you want to farm expect easy content. If you want a challenge play later acts but expect to lose efficiency (this is common sense).
Farming Act 1 is fun for me when I get an awesome piece of gear (for money or upgrade).
Playing higher acts is fun for me for the challenge. You have to pick one. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Blizzard kind of took away "play any act for farming" in Inferno by changing it to have higher difficulty in later acts. However, over a long enough time you'll overgear the later acts and they'll be just as easy as Act I is for most people now but not necessarily as efficient until Blizzard adds more static elite/gob spawns.
I'm excited about these loot changes but I'm confused about the Act 1 & 2 changes. Act 1 and 2 was fine before... I mean... they just buffed them.
Everyone is going to Farm Act 1 now... at least I know I will. I think they went a bit overboard with the Act 1 rates... Act 1 is so easy that I wouldn't even call it Inferno, it's more like Hell+.
Anypony else selling all their bank of Shimmerring Essences? Price dropped from 2,1k pre-1.03 to 1.8k, Tears from... 1k even I believe, down to 100g. I expect them to dive with such huge increase of 60+ gear.

Yeah, my mind was boggled with that change, but I guess that's the best way to get people to play again.
It's not an issue with Act I droprates it's an issue with easily accessible elites not being available in higher act routes...either nerf all the guaranteed elites in Act I common routes (make them more random) or add some more guaranteed elite areas for Act 2+
Inferno Act 1 still seems to be a fast, easy place to farm with the changes. Blizz shouldn't have touched anything except for Act 2-4 Inferno. Regardless I'll take it though.

In my experience although Act 2 takes a little longer and does not have as many "set" rare spawn locations I feel like I find packs of elite's everywhere in Act 2. I'll do Maghda runs and get to 5x NV within 10-15 minutes. Additionally and this is purely my own experience I have found many many more 62 and 63 items in these runs. My A1 farms ended in MAYBE 1 63 item out of the 50+ i'd each in the run.
Sure you see a little more ilvl 63 in Act 2, but in those 10-15min it takes you to get 5 NV stacks in Act 2 I have finished my Act 1 run killing 15-20 elites (including Warden and Butcher).

What dont you get ? its more than doubled.
up to 6 actually (plus it usually has a res chest)...watch tower is insanely lucrative for such a tiny map
also leorics can have 2 outside

Loot rate should've been
2% act 1
9% act 2
16% act 3/4
but whatever
My BNet Profile
ZOMG, I got a new epic farming route!!!
Beautiful and to the point nice!
