Seriously though, I'm starting to get excited again. Lots of info...almost seems like they've been really working instead of playing with toy guns.
2011 is starting to look good.

If a player wants to get gold for their items while in the field they can just use a "scroll of wealth," he added.
do you guys think this will work like the pet in torchlight? because the way jay worded it, it sounds as though you wont need to go back to town to sell stuff
Yeah, it's from another interview. He only mentioned it in passing, but it seems that you can use the scroll to instantly sell an item in the field. Which seems a little weird to me I must say.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

A scroll of wealth sounds like an all right idea. If they took town portals out i think they dont want to put more scroll items back in thats just my take on it. But i agree with PhrozenDragon its a little wierd.
Yep, lots of good information here. It's great to watch how the game is developing and starting to take shape.
I don't really have any quibbles that are jumping out at me right now but I do want to say that I've been worried about Adria's return for quite some time now. I hope they don't remove any of the wonderful mystery about her that was so present in Diablo. She is one of a handful of characters who I don't think should be developed much. Most of her charm came from the fact that she was so enigmatic.
I mean, who was this woman? She seemed to know so much about the inner workings of demon life and arcane history, she didn't seem entirely of this earth. No one had ever been inside her shack in Tristram and who knows what they would have found in there if they had been? There was always I think the suspicion in our heads that she was more than just a regular, run-of-the-mill witch.
As compelling as the question is, I don't really want it answered. I don't want her to be revealed as some secret agent of Heaven or a demon gone good. That for me would spoil her well set-up character. Shakespeare never explained what sort of beings his witches in Macbeth were and I think that Adria should be treated the same way. It's very tempting to expand her story but I think Blizzard should refrain from doing so and keep her aloof.
Anyways, there's my rant on Adria, I don't mean to try to steer the thread in a different direction. All the other info sounds good to me. Looking forward to artisans and all that. I'm confident Blizzard will strike the right balance in boss fights and make them interesting while keeping the "fight" aspect prominent in them. Great post.

doesnt look that weird to me. they didnt remove Town Portal because the scrolls took space in the inventory, they did it because they felt it was one way to exploit the system (which was also true) - as Jay said in this last interview.
so scroll of wealth looks very very viable if you look at it this way. as something that makes it possible to sell items without having to run to waypoints now that the town portals are gone. Just like the health/mana globes, they didnt want to slow us down from killing things so not going back to town to sell things looks like them following that certain direction, right?
I agree if its in the game is has to be a reason for it. Just something i am not used to. I have never played WoW or Torchlight so these ideas are a little foreign to me. IF it keeps me in the battlefield for long periods of time that exactly what i want.
As far as the player models go you have to remember you are going to be seeing your character from about 30 feet in the air as far perspective goes in the game. So there is really no reason for them to put high poly character models when you don't need to. Also there want to put mass enemy's on the screen and an easy way to do it is to lower the res so you can put more people on screen. Thats just my understanding from what bashiok has been saying.

I just want to know how she knows everything. Where did she get her knowledge? I mean if blizzard can do it right they can suprise us all on how Adria knows so much. It would be cool if they did it through an awesome cinimatic. I'm glad they brought Adria back because I WANT TO KNOW HOW SHE KNOWS THIS STUFF!!!!!! I WANT KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HER!

Thanks for transcribing the interview. No way I was gonna sit through watching all of that. Dyes sound fun and all. But you know everyone's just gonna try and look as dark as possible. And sometimes you'll see pink people and you'll want to kill them.
I have dreams about playing this game. I seriously do. I feel like a nerd just for having such dreams.
I'm a little disappointed they're bringing back Adria. Only because I pictured her so many times in Tristram being overrun by demons and getting slaughtered. Like, I like imagining she put up a good fight, but she spent so much of her time with magics making potions and to the average townperson, she seemed really powerful. But in fact to the average mage, she was just an eccentric old lady studying a minor facet of magic and now she's just dead.
As far as old classes coming back as NPC's, my money is on the Necromancer. He may even possibly just be called Zayl. And yeah, maybe the Assassin too.
Hmm, you could be right about Adria. I just thought she was kind of aloof is all. I mean she does offer you advice and when you gossip with her she would have interesting insights into other townspeople. But she would still be very annoyed sounding or surprised when you went to talk to her.
I'm not sure if any of the old classes will be fought the way we fought D1's old classes. I think the Barbarian is kind of supposed to be the canon hero from D2, but they do talk about how Diablo was fought by a group of heroes. And don't anyway try to tell me that it was definitely the Barbarian in D2 just cause the gauntlet that smashes the Soulstones was big. Fuck that shit. I hate you.
Oh, no you misunderstood me. I know he's the Barbarian from D2. I'm just saying that isn't necessarily him in the end D2 cinematic smashing the Soulstone.
Bringing characters back is always tricky I think. I was relieved that Jay Wilson said they wouldn't bring back Wirt's Leg unless there was an original way to do it, because there really isn't. Nothing short of just a totally lame joke would bring him back at this point.

Well I'm sure you won't be finding these so often that You'll never have to go to back to town, I think it's a great idea.

Torchlight pet - carries items
- sells items
- attack enemies
- learns spells
- equips amulets/rings
Scroll of wealth- sells items.
Could the two work in similar fashion...? Hmmm... tough one.

The hype-meter is going through the roof at the moment.
One thing i'm concerned about is the quality of the player models - is it just me or do they look really poor?
