Wow, I go inactive for a few days and this is what I come back to? So many changes, it's a bit confusing.
It's a bit sad to see so many wonderful people being demoted or leaving but I hope that they'll at least continue to post here. I've got to search through the forum archives now though and figure out just what's happened. I don't know what to think about all this.
Well its not much new really, just new people and some people left. Nothing new.

Honestly i dont think D3 will get even close to the fanbase that WoW has, but it will still be a kick ass game.

I'm somewhat saddened that 2005, the so-called precambrian era of diablo3.com, was largely skipped over. There were a lot of good people floating around then, a few older members might remember Fuel, not necessarily an administrator, but a high-minded opinion nonetheless. Also, as a fairly old member that enjoys scanning these forums occasionally, I am quite happy with the website changes, as they have only made it more visually absorbing and navigable. Anyhow, thank you for that nice little stroll down memory lane.
I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I cant even drive past my old highschool without rubber necking over. I've nearly hit the car in front me of like 3 times now
So, when you changed the name of the side, to diablofans, did blizzard promise to give you all beta keys and games on release date? Hope they did, I would demand it! and if they didn't agree I would still give them the name I guess. Love Blizzard, the only company that really knows how to charge you money for doing anything ingame =) oh the money I've spent on WoW... Well, it's been like 5 years of playing and it was worth it.
We got no money for the name change. They own the intellectual rights to the Diablo franchise and have the higher influence. We would have not been within our rights to demand money for it because the title "Diablo III" is an intellectual right of theirs. This was a point discussed for a bit after the change.
What we got was a good link from their diablo3.com to our site for a while. I think it was a month or two. I'm sure that helped with traffic
By the way, some German bought diablo4.com... clever move. An investment for when he's retired.
See above, although I think Bashiok or someone said that this is the last installment.

I hear you my friend. Some people say that nostalgia is a negative emotion which induces counterproductivity and over-idealization of the past but I think that in small doses, it's very beautiful. I too go back to my old schools and neighbourhoods to sigh about the good old days.

Last installment eh? That sounds good to me. If I don't completely like the direction Diablo has been pulled in since Diablo 2, I imagine that by Diablo 4 I'd be tearing my hair out. When I've finished with Diablo 3 I think I'll be ready to move on to something new. All good things must come to an end.
Doppel's still around here somewhere last I remember. He's not banned if that's what you're asking. I'm sure he'll be back sooner or later.
As for the name change of the site, yeah we let Blizzard have that and they linked to us from their homepage for a month or so. It was a good deal.

As for the mockery issue. He was let go due to gross inactivity and poor management. While he was ruling the forums we weren't allowed to discuss issues like this but now I feel free enough that I can.
Until about 2 months ago the admins on this forum basically governed it by themselves. It wasn't uncommon for mockery to go a week or two without posting or responding to us. I completely understand why he was let go. A lot of the improvement we were shooting for was stymied by his lack of opinions on many subjects. Progress was slowed greatly because ultimately no matter what me or Jetrall wanted to do we needed mockery's okay, which generally just never happened. That being said, that's just my opinion on the subject, but I was there and personally had first hand experience trying to contact him on numerous points.
For example a thumbnail code we STILL haven't received which was requested probably 6 months ago and was brought to his attention via threads and PM's many a time. So if anyone is wondering what happened there, I'm guessing it was due to inactivity.
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions

Name reminds me of the Anime the Needless...
I want to play D3
*Sigh.* I'd give anything to get that back. :/
Though...I think I was the only person who liked it. x.x
Actually, does anybody remember the Diablo3.com mountain banner? x.x
