Heres the research to show. There are more people in cow games total than there are total in current duel games, almost any given time, and then theres every other game that are PvM. There are never more than 2 duel games per difficulty, three is stretching it on a good day. On a bad day, there are 3-4 cows games full running, which spawn an additional game every 10-15min pending difficulty and players. Heres another fact, if our pase was so PvP oriendted, there are TONS of games with better worked PvP, why are they plaiyng Diablo? Because even the true PvPers do some PvM. And the PvM that arent PvP buffs, may throw in a duel here or there, usually to test new equips, but its a mojority of PvM

I know the pvm guys try duels sometimes and the pvp guys pvm, I am not saying noone pvms or that pvm is gay. I am saying it is not true that PvM>PvP and it is not true that people play diablo for years on end with ONLY PvM.
Get over yourself.
There are plenty of people, myself included, that almost never touched PvP because they hate and still love the PvM part all the way and even through years.
Not everyone need PvP for the game to last just because you say so.

I don't think anyone was saying that because no one has offered an absolute position on that, even me. I completely acknowledge that PvP was played in Diablo II. However, PvM is obviously much more common. I see more Baal, Chaos, Cow, Trist run, most of which are full or close to it, and so forth games, more rushing games (and when said are free are completely full most times), and more monster-milking games than I have ever seen of PvP.
PvP, though, is used and is nice filler in between finding crap, killing stuff, and levelling up.
Umm you just said that im wrong about cows for leveling, when the cncept had absolutly nothing to do with that. And, no there arent. There are hardly any duel games going on, especially in hell, there ahrdly any games going on peroid. I dont think its jsut my realm, but theres wayyy less hell games than anything else. And even if where u are, there are 5-10games in hell and LITTLE DUELING ELSEWERE, tha tproes MY point. you have 10-12 dueling games tops(and in reality it isnt evne that many) and every other gae is PvM which proves theres more PvM.

pvm is more popular if your going by sheer number of participants. This is simply because you have to pvm to pvp. If you don't mf some wealth your not gonna do too hot in duels.
However, I'd also argue that pvp is what has kept this game alive and so popular. D2jsp is without a doubt the most widely used trading/guide forum for D2. Log in and check it out. Notice how 99% of the content people post is related to pvp. Maybe...just maybe...there's a direct connection between pvp in the game being popular, and the most popular/useful/informative d2 site being so heavily focused around the pvp community.
Its not that the pvm in the game sucks, its just for, from the perspective I've gained from playing the game since it release, pvp is what people turn to when they have mastered pvm and its just boring and easy. I would have invested probably about 1/100th of the time in the game that I did, if it wasn't for such a loosely regulated pvp set up. Such a fun mixture of pk'ing, pub duels, and structured duels is what has kept meplaying for so long.
If its taken over Diablo, why havent I heard of it, ive been playing for over 6 years. Honestly, what is it? Is it something I shouldve heard, and what do others have to say, have as many of you heard of this as he is claiming?

Ok it will begin with a simple question. How is most trading done on Diablo now adays?
Answer: Forum Gold
Question: Where do I get such currency or item as "forum gold"
Answer: D2jsp.com
D2jsp has been apart of Diablo since 2005 and has a VAST VAST VAST amount of users and has violently taken over Diablo and many games trading ways and have used their forum gold as new currency for games like Diablo and many others.
Now D2JSP also has a PvP forum which is where I found the site in the first place back in 2005 was for the PvP, the best of the best went there for PvP ladders, duels, ect. Back then D2jsp wasnt that big, but now adays it's bigger then any Diablo site I can find.
Correct. I have never used it, personally, because I can get what I want fine in-game, although I have made... I believe I am up to three accounts on it because I keep forgetting about it.
They have a PvM forum and a PvP forum, look at the topics/ posts and relate them. The PvM forum is quiet calm in terms of posts/topics as opposed to the PvP which over rules it's PvM brother. Now I take this as some stastic, a site where a VAST majority of Diablo members go to find Diablo related information, have posted in and started way more topics in PvP then PvM.
Let's analyze why, then. Why do you think there are not as many PvM posts? Because PvM issues are largely trade issues- services, like rushing and levelling, and gear-pedaling, which is directly a part of the PvM portion of the game. If you factor that in, PvP gets blown out of the water on that site. That is how I view it.
However, I would add that the majority of the people I play with do not talk about D2JSP when they want to trade with me or admit to having an account when I ask them. I seem to notice that it is a trend of the "elite" players, which would mean the smallest group of players in-game. This is balanced out by the fact that elite players do more trading than casual and require such a service. If there is anything I think Blizzard skimped on it was trading in Diablo II, which is the games second backbone, and I think they really missed out when they did not think of a trade solution like D2JSP first.

Hes right Vlad, most issues for PvM are trading, what else really is there to cause issues? There SHOULD be more PvP posts BECAUSE PvP cant be controlled, where PvM Artificial Intellegence is.

Well, I think it's a shame, really, that there should have to be distinction between PvP and PvM gear. Once you're rich there really isn't, if you know what I mean (Enigma is good for PvP and PvM- well, depending on the character, but still). I think I read somewhere that they are aiming to minimize this in Diablo III so that you don't have to make that choice and be unable to efficiently do either if you pick either, if you know what I mean.
I have not been playing D2 since its release so i'm not a veteran or anything,, but PvP adds spice to the game.. It does not matter if you can beat a computer but if you can beat your buddy thats awesome and then friends kill monsters so they can be there friends, so PvP and PvM feed off each other.
wernet u saiyng seth that most PvM issues are in trading and there are more in PvP? What I said was I would assume this, because people are predictable, and the monsters AI can only do within the range of its programming, so there would be less in a PvM forum than a PvP forum?

Oh, no, I was saying that since trading is really a child of PvM and since the majority of the site is for trading that PvM actually wins as far as the site goes. But that is a personal view of it.
ok I see. I actually agree with you though, it sounds preety straight on. And you also are right, if all gear is done accuralty, there shoould be no distinction in Player VS anything, it should all be the same, the only bona fied distinctiosn are your gold find and magic find for who want those things.

I've been on there for years, and most the people there are only there for 4 things primarily. The guides, trading to beef up their duelers, finding people to duel, and flaming eachother.
As I'm looking at the site right now, there are currently 1910 forum pages of pvp topics, and 490 of pvm. I'm not gonna bother counting up every guide but probably 90% of them are pvp guides.

I think a site of this size provides some pretty solid evidence more people are on d2 for PvP then PvM.
What I said in that quote was that since I believe trading is a direct child of PvM (without PvM, there would not be trading, whereas there would be trading even if there wasn't PvP, and collecting items is a part of PvM, MFing is an issue of PvM), and since the vast majority of the posts on D2JSP are for trading, PvM is more commonplace discussion on that board. Just because it's not under their PvM forum does not mean that it isn't PvM.
That is just how I personally view the relation, though, and I can understand if you don't agree.
Well lets expand Seth logic and see how it works out, since you cant pvp at level one...
You must PvM to PvP, therefore PvP = PvM
Sorry Seth, it doesn't make sense.
As far as d2jsp goes, the vast majority of the trading is going to gear pvp characters. If all the people who play primarily for pvp quit tomorrow, the trading boards would slow to a crawl.
If you really wanna get technical about it, trading is pvp, since you and some other player are both trying to get the best deal you can off each other, unless of course you do all your trading with Charsi.
