Maybe this means they're back on track with once a month decent updates.
I think The Unburied looks like a good fit for a Diablo game. I wonder what foul magics or unholy sciences created this beast.
If it's a natural occuring thing that happens on it's own I'd be surprised. Then again I'm glad it has a loincloth. It could have at least 4 sets of genitals under there.
Finally! Something new, looks good, maybe it's just me but it seems D3 is going to have more obese undead things. I hope they balance that out with a mix. Still a welcome update.
I am really not liking how the models burst out from the background so much. Think they might need to do similarly to what they did for the Terrans in SC2 and tone down or grain things up a bit to make a sense of blending between the monsters, characters, and environments. Currently it looks rather terrible.
I'm also not appreciating how they seem to be taking the 'waves of hulking enemies' approach in Diablo 3. While I understand it's a staple, I prefer the bigger enemies to have more of a pronounced role rather than just being corpse fodder. I'd prefer battles in Diablo 3 to be more like wading through the unrelenting swarms of the undead bastioned by hulking goliaths rather than to be something appearing in the same limited scope as Baldur's Gate or previous entries where tech limited the amount of enemies you could fight at one time.
Also: Needs alternative model features for variety. The same crap to infinity is sub-par.
I'm gonna beat the dead horse again, the unburied looks frighteningly cartoony if you ask me. I was hoping to see some Diablo hell spawn instead of those Warcraftian undead.
That Peter Lee art piece is strange, am i seeing a ghost town, literally?
Cartoony in a Metalocalypse kind of way. I love how people throw around cartoony like it actually means something. I swear sometimes it feels like they are saying it out of a sheer lack of anything substantial to complain about. I guess cartoony could apply to something that lacks definition or is colorful, but I can hardly understand how someone could look at this and think that. The lack of definition is somewhat applicable but is soley the fault of the target sys req.
I'm sure we'll see a lot of smaller enemies, they just have more big ones planned for now. The concept of the new Bone Reaver looks like it may be a smaller but vicious monster.
I want to see more mere human enemies. Battles with enemies such as Lazarus and Nihlathak remain some of my favorite Diablo moments. It's much more personal when you're going against another human. Feels more like you're battling a traitor rather than some mindless demon.
Yeah, good thinking Siay. Diablo is about choosing sides (or no side), so I wanna see some more humans who choose the opposing side. Who wouldn't? Evil has invaded the land, its practically already won.
I like it, but I find it odd how each one of those Unburied manage to randomly assemble themselves in the exact same way. I also find it odd how a piece of cloth manages to wrap itself around a festering beast made up of human bodies, and why no other pieces of clothing remained on those bodies.
Remember folks, bury your dead along with a nice big piece of cloth, just incase.
Unfortunately in most video games, they haven't really managed to have several of the same monster and make them still look different from one another. Then the zombies, all they got is a skinny zombie and a fat zombie. But they all have that same smear of blood down their chest.
Yeah, most agree the loin cloth is silly. Whoever made this kind of monster wouldn't seem to care whether it's privates were exposed or not.
I really like the green orbs on it though. I'd like to think they're actually eyes of some kind that go along with that larger mouth on its side.
Hehe, this reminds me of my whole opinion in the Should Demons Have Genitals? thread.
Oh hey, has the text on the front page changed? I really should have kept a copy of it to compare.
Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.
The unburied still strikes me a boss though. This is actually the kind of monster I would not have liked to have seen until playing the game. It would've been better as a surprise. Oh well. But I'm not gonna complain because it's a hell of an update.

Yeah that text changed last year, it used to say:
"When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world.
The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary To defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells ? And even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself."
I'm very interested in the barbarian's weapon in this picture.
It looks like a javelin or a harpoon, so there's a chance one handed javelins are good for melee and there won't be a ranged class which uses them. Just my thoughts
Pretty sure it's just an axe viewed at an awkward angle. The shadow definitely looks like an axe to me.

I think this bruiser looks fantastically freaky, and I can't wait to sink my blade into his flesh.
</2 cents>
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
Hrm, well players can get blood splatter on them depending on life i think so I wonder if monsters can too.
