Can someone tell me what the blue/purple button does? I clicked it a few times and couldn't work out if it did anything.
Ahah Blizz does it again. The blue purple thing is just a remake of the gem from the DII bnet chat. The gem was doing nothing but peple loved to think this could have something to do with a secret bonus ingame or something like that.
But very nice find.
edit : I also think this is a progression update. The image will probably change from time to time until some kind of announcement. I would like some news about the story. Thats cute, Diablo is back, but how??! I would like to have some "hints" of DIII story
I don't get this whole 'new wanderer' business. Why would Tyrael conceal himself as a man and wander the earth? It'd be much quicker to just fly there, being an angel and all. Diablo was only the Wanderer because he took possession of a man and was slowly building his strength again. He didn't do it because it was easier or the 'evil thing to do' or anything.
And it doesn't look like he's losing his wings at all. Blizzard wouldn't reveal something like that now anyway, they would wait for the game.
Thats just concept art. When you make concept art, drawing something like wings is redundant. At that stage, they're just trying to establish the basic design of the character (like whether it should have neck armour or not). You may as well be trying to argue that at one stage during the game Tyrael will appear with only half a tunic and a ghostly sword handle in his right hand, and without a left hand at all. Massive wings take up space on the paper and just get in the way when they aren't important to the body's design.
He doesn't look like the wanderer at all either. The Wanderer just some guy who was possessed by Diablo and wore a cloak to conceal his evil appearance (changing body) and the massive soulstone in his head. Tyrael is not even wearing a cloak! He's not concealing anything, thats just how angels look (they have hollow hoods for a head, because they don't actually have a real face).
He may be changing, I'm not saying that he isn't. But I am saying that you can't base your opinions on illogical assumptions. Tyrael has never once resembled The Wanderer, and so you cannot make that assumption without calling it a wild guess.
And as for the concept art not having wings.. I already explained that. You must have never drawn concept art before, or you would know that its such a hassle to draw unnecessary things, like massive wings, or the entire body when you only want to focus on one leg or the backside of the legs. Wings are just not the focus of that part of the concept. If it was a properly completed concept art without wings, then yes, I would agree with you. But its clearly just a somewhat sketchy idea of what one character will look like.
I'm not saying that Tyrael won't lose his wings, I'm just saying that you can't base your guess on that one concept art that is clearly incomplete anyway.
Reason and logic escapes those who are desperate. Don't let it happen.
I think that this might be showing a change in Tyreal. You know? maybe...blizzard is hinting around, giving us clues like they did to reveal D3. Tyreal could be changing, and letting his power take control of him. This would kind of fit into the rumors that Tyreal becomes "Corrupted".
I would agree with everyone, but there is one major overlooked fact, actually two. One which I stated earlier and will reinforce with fact.
the pic on the site is just an updated(todays version) of an older character. This is done simply because they can do more now a days then in the past. In D2 Tyreal was there, and his wings were simple, cause well they HAD to be cause the game engine could not hadle any more, and all art work on the website and CGI(once again early CGI for the game industry) cut scenes all have to be the same. In Doom they did the same thing. The same beasts were present in D1 D2 and D3 and the art for all three games on the site continued to look better and better as the games were released. Why because they could make them look better in the game. This is the natural order of graphics and CGI and any art work that is repeated, it changes and always look better due to better abilities both by the artist and the game engine. So the fact that the his wings changed COULD simply mean that they redid his wings in the game cause the new engine can handle it and have updated the art work on the site to reflect this.
Now for the second part. Why would they give you game updates(story) VIA the website? What purpose does that serve? Also if they are trying to tell a story VIA the site then they are doing a bad job if it by changing so little, and the time from when the site went live to now, and taking in how far off the release of the game is just doesn't coincide. They are, for the sake of a number, 20% done with the game, and we all know that they recently changed other art work in the game, with all that said I say they are advancing the image on the site to fast, with to little detail, to be story related especially considering a 2010 release date seems to be more realistic.
Now I could be wrong, but you have to admit I do put up a good argument. And I don't do this to disprove anyone, just pointing out fact just like the concept art work argument.
