(sorry if anyone finds this slightly offensive or very negative but...)
Great, I am so glad that this argument has been settled even though on the first page Jet said that he most likely wasn't going to issue such a requirement for animated avys anyway as it would be very difficult on the mods.

I never said that. I just said I was waiting to see how normal avatars went over first then, should everything be going smoothly, I will allow animated avatars for all.
A good idea. My only hesitation with setting something like that up right now is that VBulleting essentially sucks ass and I'd have to make a new UserGroup and move everyone with over 1000 posts into it. It might just be easier to wait a few weeks, see if people decide to behave with the avatars and if so, grant them to all.
I took this as meaning it would be difficult on you to do that.

Quantity can win. Watch sports. Winning a game 100-80 is great. None of the baskets scored by the winning team could have been good, quality baskets, hell they could have all been luck - but yet still they had a higher quantity of points, and therefore won.
Although you could argue that quality would eventually prevail because it'd likely be more consistant and all it was could have been luck. But even so, quality is never always consistant. Thats why quanitity matter,s you have to put up big numbers to win.

Ah. No. There I am referring to making it so that only users with 1000+ posts could have animated avatars. I'm talking about giving everyone the ability to have animated avatars. Which would be quite simple.

Maybe so, but we were talking about quality of posts, not sports.
The post requirement for an avatar isn't so much of a quality/quantity issue I think. More it's just to offer members incentives for remaining active. Some people fear that putting a post requirement on qualifying for an avatar only increases the likelihood of spam. While I realize this is a possibility, I rarely see it actually happening on other forums. And spammers can be dealt with anyway.
The post requirement just can make things more interesting.
Everything doesn't have to go back to post count. Why must it? It musn't. And it doesn't. I stand by this idea. It doesn't put THAT much emphasis on post count.
I agree. Post count is not the way to go. I've been saying the whole time that I'm not planning on limiting it based on anything. It'll be available to everyone - assuming regular avatars are used properly. (Which so far they seem to be).

Quality over quantity.
In some rare case's quantity wins ( HoOOray for you people who post online for a living)
but for some like myself, I feel 100 post's is PLENTY. quality.
Avatars for all, I say.

I suggest you make the requirement for animated avatars 10 months of being a member.
