I was able to be one of the first to tryout the new playable demo Diablo III. I was able to get a lot of information so far in regards of skills, gameplay, graphics, dialog, NPC's, and more...
One of the more interesting things about the game play is the Character Stat Assigning. I was able to level up the Wizard and the Witchdocter to a few levels and noticed something strange.
I was able to talk to the lead director of the demo area and was no at liberty to say but was able to tell me that Character Stat assigning will be totally automatic. You will not have any control of which stats get increased. This greatly reduces stragety and builds for the near future when Diablo III gets announced.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
Everyone around me in the Press room is scratching their head as the only thing you are able to do is decide which skill gets an upgrade or not. Unfortunately, security will not let me take pictures or vids of actual gameplay, already had my SLR taken away until after the convention.

or the most silly shit build since 2001, a.k.a. "the 95% energy shield sorcs" which are literally unkillable with i.e. a necromancer, since they have 3xx% mana recovery rate.
Oh, and its also possible to use replinsh life, and since your life will be 900-1500 you'll recover fully within a very short timeframe.
just lol.
but people will still bitch about it because they never made it passed nm mode and have no idea what features (like this one) should be changed
It was so fun to make my sorceress with 156 str (+30 from stormshield)... i guess that i wont be able to do that again ¬¬
automatic stat points is horrible imo, i agree that a 156 str sorceress is ridiculous but blizzard could give us a little liberty in stats for personal customization...
they could give you like 3 automatic stat points and 2 to put wherever we want too...
Wow I am ashamed of Diablo 3 again. Auto stat points reduces so much creativity with characters its ridiculous. Only thing to diverse characters at this point are skills which are gonna become cookie cuttered and items, thus making pvp and pve rather pointless since every class will then become the same guy. Some of you will argue with me that this is better but it just plain isnt, hope this was only for the demo cause this is by far worse then the art direction or the inventory or anything else, may as well make it an MMO now since they are totally gutting all of Diablo that made Diablo well Diablo.
I desperately hope he was only refering to the demo when this was said. Skill/Stat planning was one of the largest and most fun parts of Diablo 2. Without it... It's just not Diablo.
Don't you think that the fact that each spell will be customizable and you will able to modify them to get like, 5-6 completely different spells and unique both visually and effectively, is ENOUGH to make an infinite amount of unique, and varied builds? By putting stat requirements on items that only LIMITS what you can wear. This way you can wear everything for your level and make more variation that way. They want you to try new things, not make cookie cutter builds...
Well after seeing the Wizard and the new Witchdoctor stuff the skills are looking incredible... but I hope this news isn't as black and white as it sounds.

these are two things that i hate in rpgs =/ (of course its only in my point of view)
Doesn't bother me too much, the game looks great so far.
