If you play only on one side (Factions: Horde/Alliance) you are getting only about half of the game. Add to that different paths; different characters; getting items; just exploring the world. I would say it has as much, or more replay value than Diablo 2. You, sir, probably have never played WoW. EDIT: I KNOW you haven't played it enough to know what you're talking about.. Or else, you're a hypocrite. I, myself, have only spent casual time playing it (On free private servers.), and I STILL know more than you about the game. Try giving a game a chance before you bash it in your ignorance. That being said; I'm not a WarCraft fanboy. WarCraft 3 was a horrible disappointment compared to StarCraft for me. So, don't start with that B.S., which I know you were going to do.
--- Johnny.. What are we gonna do with you? The change in StarCraft 2 was negligible. The only people that were satisfied with it were the ones that only partially thought that the game was too "Wow-ish". The people who were most vocal about it were never satisfied with the change. I should know; I frequent all major StarCraft 2 forums. It was very negligible, and was even less of a change than the "How It Should Look Like" pictures that plague this site.
You know where assuming gets you? No where...because assumptions are based off of no knowledge and are usually wrong.
You should keep those banana lips shut and not shoot prematurely from your cockholster.
I played WoW from release and up until a couple months ago. I played both horde and alliance. I have seen all the end game content. I have seen most of the bosses in Sunwell. I have killed Illidain. I've basically done it all.
There is no replay value in WoW because there is no sense of accomplishment. They pigeon hold you to factions and then destroy world PvP with bgs which are northing more than amusement rides for carebears and casual PvPers to enjoy.
WoW is linear, with a hold your hands quest system. It's a great game for people new to MMOs, or for people with little time to play and who want to reach end game quick and fast.
Real MMOs take effort and time. Quests mean something and you feel a sense of accomplishment. They do not hold your hand throughout every level.
did D2 keep the same look that Act 1 did? NO it changed from rogue encampment to hell all the way to a snowy summit, its IS possible to have bump mapping, D2 never changed skins/models throughout the whole game, NOW you start complaining
they can tone down color pallet depending on the location, you're an idiot, it's not gonna be bright and peachy in a cave as compared to a forest where sun will shine through
there is no logic in YOUR argument, you're too close-minded in thought
Oh my god your reading comprehension is TERRIBLE! I'm done talking to you until you learn how to read and comprehend the words in front of your beady little eyes, you pathetic putz.
And for the record I don't play WoW and never will. It's not that I think WoW is cartoony, repetitive, full of leet-speek kiddies, etc. I don't play WoW or any other MMO because I just cannot deal with having to pay a monthly fee to play a game. I don't care how good it is, I will never be good with a subscription based game. Since you are paying each month you feel complelled to play because if you don't then that is money wasted.
It's not like the fee is pro-rated for the times when you are not playing. Go on a trip for 2 weeks, well you are still paying for those 2 weeks of WoW, Star Wars, LoTR, The Matrix, etc. The compultion to play as much as possible so as to not waste the fee is why I avoid all MMO's. Now I am sure there are many MMO players who do not have this hangup of mine, but I do and that is why I don't do MMO's!
What will you do if you have to pay a fee for D3? You know that they are considering this...
fargnbastage, you saying that the gameplay video shows everything that the game will be
correct me if im wrong but i believe that's assumption
and if you played it that long, you have no reason to complain, you paid for the game, you played it to the end, making fun of WoW is making fun of yourself because once upon a time, you were one of those people
and dont troll on other people telling them to fuck off, seriously what is wrong with you? show some respect to other people and be appreciative that blizzard is doing this for us

with every little response you give, you only get flamed more in back by the community, you need to respond in a more respectable manner, you're treating this in the wrong way and it's not welcomed here
I think it's important to think about everything that was going on in the gameplay video. It's specifically mentioned that they're focusing a lot more on the story and building the story throughout the game in D3.
So, (according to what we're being told) it's 20 years after D2 and people have forgotten or chosen to forget what happened in the past. The short scenes we were shown are in the very beginning of the game. If this is just as things are getting bad, it makes sense that things will look a little brighter--and get darker as the game progresses and evil becomes more prominent.
Colors can be as important to telling a convincing tale as the story itself in a visual medium, so I think they're giving themselves the opportunity to present an ongoing story in the most effective way possible.
As for the characters and realism - I don't know, I'm on the fence. Most animation I've seen that tries to be as realistic as possible usually ends up looking forced and fake. When animators choose to go in a more stylized direction, it's easier to effectively convey emotions and actions because we're not looking for perfect realism.
To me, what I've seen looks to be a perfectly acceptable continuation of the Diablo series. I'm eager to see more information and screenshots to make my final decision on how it looks.
no they arent, theyve established the fact that NO you wont be paying, it's off of battle.net
Yes it will be on Battle.net....a new version. Go back and watch the video. When someone asks "Will there be a monthly fee?" The dev responds "Right now we aren't sure whether we will or will not have a subscription for D3"
All I can say is that I love having variety in a game. The graphics of Diablo 3 look awesome to me. My friends that I've talked to online and in person, have all said that Diablo 3 looks amazing and that they can't wait to play it. We've all played D1 (even some of Hellfire) and D2 LoD and loved them. The major improvement in Diablo 3 graphics to coincide with technology isn't a bad thing. Plus we've only seen a 20 minute gameplay video of 2 areas in the first act. People complaining isn't new though, because you can't please everyone all the time, and when you try, you may please no one. I myself am very pleased and will buy D3 the day it is available. I will save any critism I may have until after the finished product has been played and beat. That's just my view though.

I'm not making fun of myself for bashing WoW since I played it. I realized long ago that the game was horrible months before BC was released. I stopped playing as much and kept my sub up because some of my guildies were still playing.
I also stopped PvEing for the most part and just PvP'd. I would camp people, gank, and do arenas.
well aside from WoW, i think that blizzard understands fully what theyre doing especially since (someone posted this earlier in another thread i think) one of the art designers predicted the whole community wouldnt be pleased with the new art direction, but he seemed to know that it wont matter when they see the rest of the game
GW had more detail and looks more realistic. Mythos is cartoony as hell...and so is D3.
Also, the Art Design will not change from the smooth layout of happy trees to a more Gothic one from one act to another. That would be the equivalent of Design ADD.
Well you must remember that D1 & D2 were pretty low on the resolution side.
D2's graphical jump over D1 was to offer us 800x600 in addtion to the 640x480!
An isometric view in those ancient low-rez modes, in my opinion, was one of the big factors for the "Diablo" feel. There are people nowadays who can't even think of a time when the native resolution of a PC monitor was 1024x768 much less 800x600!
These days with games running in DX-9 in modes up to 1920x1200 Blizzard has to join the new century and give us more than 800x600! And in these higher modes the texures are going to look cleaner and crisper. These days games come out with physics that have each blade of grass blowing in the wind and this is what modern gamers expect. The days of dark and murky muddled low-rez games is fading into the past.
I trust Blizzard to take our Diablo universe into this brave new world of *gasp* MODERN graphics and still remain faithful to what the Diablo universe is. I don't think using bump mapping and other attempts to replicate the look of D1 & D2 will work in anything higher than 800x600.
And I for one do not want to be stuck in 1999 and want D3 to push my display to its limits!
In the end some will love they way it is and some will hate it. Of those some will play it anyways. I just hope it sells well and gives them the push for more, more more!!! I think I will be like 60 some odd years old by the time D10 comes out, but if I am still alive and kickin I will be first in line!
Just because it's not dark, it doesn't have to look all gay and cartoonish.
Lord of the Rings as rolemodel?
You just dont get it.... it's the TRUE definition of CONTRAST. Walk through a darkhallway... open a door... the room is dark... no diff right? Walk through a hallway with a huge lamp / light in it... open a door.. the room is dark... you SEE the huge contrast and it has a much larger effect.
I love the colors, it adds VERSATILITY to the game. There will be enough blood / gore / death in the game to make you forget about the "colors", I'm sure:rolleyes:
Sheesh.. you guys sound like some pissed off interior decorators.

No kidding! They sound like a bunch of spoiled brats who just got a new Ferrari but complain its not the color they wanted.. How about shutting the hell up and actually being greatful that we got our DIABLO 3! But no, you all bitch and moan about something that shouldnt even be bitched about. The game looks great. If you dont like it, dont play it. More room for the rest of us.

Well, I could even talk seriously and personally about sex without saying something akin to, "My girlfriend and I have had sexual intercourse not once, not twice, but thrice. During these times I had inserted my penis in and out of her vagina and ejaculated accordingly. I gently sobbed afterwards while she held me in her arms. This has all brought us closer together."
