I think that a some clarification as to how the winners would be chosen in the original post would have been appreciated. Generally a contest implies an actual competition so it is in no way surprising that people would be extremely let down by this rather lazy approach to selecting the winners. I actually thought that creativity and thoroughness in my suggestions would be at least considered an edge in the contest. Having read some of the winning replies I can not help but feel that this was a mere mosh-pit of people simply spamming "auctions plz", "PvP Titlez", and "Mor like WoW :D". Replying that it was no where explicitly said that winners would be chosen for quality is ridiculous. Furthermore, how exactly can you hope to inspire any effort in future "contests" when this is the type of reward given to those that actually displayed some effort. If we wanted to get to blizzard then Bashiok clearly would more likely read a single well crafted post on the actual Diablo 3 forums rather than pouring through hundreds of posts repeating for the most part the same actual ideas in a moronic attempt at a contest. Needless to say this entire ordeal has been overwhelmingly disappointing.
Do you realize how long it would take to read every contest submission and then decide which 20 are the best? It would be nearly impossible.
You see we should cut the utter bull shiznizzle and just be happy we were in a contest even if it was a small one. I love you guys this is now my homepage

I'm not going to complain about who won, but a random drawing isn't as fair as it seems, lots of people probably made duplicate accounts and posted on each account, I wish I would have done that now, but I thought the posts were actually gonna be read :\
I'm pretty excited, thanks for making this happen! Anyway, kinda feel sorry for those who put in a lot of effort and got nothing, but remember our ideas go to Blizzard and, hey, having your idea even semi-implemented should be much more of an honor than anything.
Can't wait for the prizes!
P.S. the first line reads "There were a lot of great suggestions in our recent WWI Card Tyrael Pet Contest and Bashiok will be forwarded to the Diablo 3 team via Bashiok."
I don't think you mean we're forwarding Bashiok to the D3 team through himself. =D The first Bashiok should probably be replaced with "they."
I have heard no mod comment on this, though the original rule-post clearly stated anyone making multiple posts or going off-topic would be disqualified...
no there was nothing in there about disqualifying a person if they went off-topic and whatever its cool i was trying to win this for my bro so i kept my post on topic (#209) its just a lil ridiculous lol how they say give us ideas about pvp and trade, that's it. people go on there a post pretty much any aspect of diablo 3 they want to see in it.. "i got this character here, here's some skills for it etc.. oh and it would be cool if this and that.. etc"
but yeah congrats to the winners again, i can understand it would take 20+ people to read thru the 250+ posts made and then to rule out majority and pick a top 20.. they got shit to do. i hope my idea along with everyone elses gets sent and hope to see if anything i said makes it in there.
If i got this right, all posts were forwarded to blizzard, but only the 20 randomized ones where winners. But im not sure, correct me if im wrong
Correct. Only the 20 winners were picked randomly. All entries will be sent to Blizzard soon after Bashiok returns from Leipzig GC and PAX convention commitments. Well, unless Mockery already did it ahead of me.

Congratulations, DiabloFans, for not following the contest rules you set in place. Now Blizzard has been sent 20 identical posts asking for pvp titles, a trading board, and a necromancer. Constructive? I think not.
Thanks for wasting a lot of peoples time with a randomizer. Ridiculous.
Pointless rant. There were around 308 entries. It is nigh impossible to read them all and pick which were best, then narrow them down to 20 winners.
As for 20 identical posts, we are not sending the 20 only. We are sending most of them 307 submissions.

I wonder if Blizzard ever sees an idea here and discusses it in the offices...
I met Bashiok in Paris. He reads diablofans boards.

If I had originally said it would be random, people would have created multiple accounts to raise their chances to win -- which could have resulted in a lot of people getting banned since that's against the forum rules/guidelines. I have seen on the moderation private forums a lot of cases of people who have gotten banned for that. Moderators do investigate multiple accounts zealously.

Congratulations to the winners! I hope you have fun with your Tyrael pets.
Grats on this site doing a mediocre job. I was a big fan of this site. Calling a drawing a contest is a farce. Now you're razzing the people who actually cared. The only thing this site ever had going for it was squatting on Blizzard's IP.
mmm, congrats to the winners, i think no one who joined after the announcement should of been awarded a prize, it seems very selfish and unrewarding for the users who have been here longer.
This contest i believe was handled badly, but hey thats just me
Next time these contests should only involve the current members.
Although, it would just take a few hours to half a day of someone devoted to it. I've read through forum topics this big in a few hours, and picking out the best wouldn't have been a problem (since most of the people broke the rules, and all you need to do is mark down the good ones that follow the rules, then go back to those later to narrow them down to 20)
I'm glad to see the person who put so much effort into the post (and even drew concepts) won. S/he obviously put a lot of work into it.

Me too, but they won randomly. They should have won on the merits of their work, not on a random drawing that was supposed to be a contest. They should have won on that great post. Others should have won on their great posts. Instead others who just registered with 1-2 posts won with pitiful contributions.
The fact of the matter is, every suggestion is sent to Blizzard. They'll be reading our ideas and concerns and you never know what they might build upon our feedback. It will be interesting to see a few months from now if any of our ideas were adopted.

Also, if any of you don't want the beta key I would REALLY like it. Please if you don't want to use it (or give it to someone) give me a shout.
