IGN cornered Jay Wilson at the 2008 Leipzig GC today to continue discussion on the Art direction, and Health Potions system. What everyone saw at the Invitationals gameplay video is merely the first levels of the game, which are meant to be colorful. We will see darker and grittier scenes as we delve deeper into the world of Sanctuary... giving a psychological sense that things will get worse and worse as we advance through the game.
A crafting system is also in the works, though it won't be anything like Diablo II's Horadric Cube combinations. "I don't know if I can think of a comparison," said Wilson. "I think that system is a pretty cool and different kind of system from anything that we've had before."

I can't wait to see the large scale invasion he brought up. It will definitely come from Mt. Arreat, you can already see the sanctuary armies lined up in front of it waiting. I just wonder what happend to the three ancient ones on the top of the mountain. I hope they return on the dark side.
I hope they do a good job on this i have high hopes for a good crafting system.

Worldstone was destroyed and the whole mountain went BOOM! No mountain, no ancients.
Take what? The petitioners would effectively be getting what they wanted this whole time.
Aside from the WOWesque art direction, that is.
Hahah yeah well, this isn't the first time Blizzard has mentioned that they want to use contrasting environments in Diablo3, and the idea of going from normal non-defiled environments to darker more sinister looking places.
I think what this does represent though, is the fact that people are prone to just assuming the worst and taking things at face value without really doing their research. However people who signed the petition because of the "WoWesque" art direction are just SOL.
Yep, haha, sorry if it seemed like I was jealous or something
I'm Dutch, so, can't go anyway. Btw, that reminds me, what's up with your name / location?

I'm getting tired of hearing the reasons behind the art change, we know already, we know already about the health orbs.
ASK SOME NEW QUESTIONS!
Yeah Dutch people are forbidden at blizzcon. =)
