So far, this what what we know and a few possibilites regarding the remaining character classes. Most of all, I hope the Druid returns, however that is just my honest opinion. However, it would be nice to know what happened to the Priests of Rathma and the Knights of the Zakarum.
no that wont happen because this is a party game they wont need the druid because he got mixed with the necro resulting in the witch doctor, they will place the paladin there for the auras.
No lie, the barb was simply a "fav" because of the simplicity to play him.
Unlike all the other classes which required thought into building, you could just dump points into STR and Vitality , then leap/whirl your way to PWNage lol
I seriously doubt druid being a class. Come on. Seriously. Witch Doctor definitely is burying the Necromancer class, but also, what about the nature aspects of Witch Doctor shown so far? Plus, it would make absolutely no sense at all to have multiple summoning classes in the game when they are downsizing the amount of classes.
Also, the Cleric idea is dumb. Actually... I've had a change of heart, my recommended classes:
Warrior, Paladin, Mage, Cleric, Hunter.
I hope Blizzard doesn't give in to cries of, "shod b mor like wow!", :[.
I hope they don't give in to "We want hot chic Mud Wrestling, without the hot chics and the wrestling."

I don't understand why everyone has such a hate on for the Barb in D2. I had 2 HC barbs one was my farmer and very good at his job of Pindle and Meph runs but not all that challenging for all of his bonecracking power. The other one was most definately not a cookie cutter ... and that was my PKK toon. Throwing specialist (wierd huh?) never lost a single fight and could chew through sorc's in seconds, no spells touched him and could double throw javellins 10x faster than a 'zon.
If they diversify the trees more than d2 did the Barb will mostlikely be an extremely versatile toon to play and a good addition to a party. Anyone can build a cookie cutter ... it's fun to build something that no one expects and the barb had quite a few interesting build options that left PK's staring blankly at their screens wondering wtf happened. Anyone could find a Cruel polearm and 3 shot Meph in hell, but imagination reins and doing something with a class that everyone expects to suck is satisfying to the extreme.
If they were going to bring back a class from D2 it kindof HAD to be the barb. For a melee class it is one of the most versatile giving players the ability to make an armoured juggernaut or a lightning fast blender with equal ease. I for one thank them for bringing the Barb back for the simple fact that lots of people do have such distain for them that Barb's are underestimated at first glance for just long enough to have their foe's faces ripped off and handed back to them.
Truthfully, I'm a little tired of this topic. But since I'm still reading it while waiting for the next Blizzard news release...
I think there should be:
A character that commands the weather and changes shape - sort of combining the Druid's nature based skills with the Sorceress' blizzard and thunderstorm skills. Little to no fire skills here, except of course Warm to regenerate mana.
I also see a character that creates magical damage and heals - thus we have magic bolts, something that has the effect of Static Charge, etc. coupled with healing and offensive auras. Perhaps a few fire skills here, but no meteor, hydra, or such, maybe fire wall or enchant (even though I thought enchant was largely useless). This character would be stronger than the first, nature based character, perhaps more like the Iron Wolves of Act 3, with swords more common than staves.
The third character I see is more along the Amazon and Assassin combination, with a few of the Paladin attack skills thrown in. Hopefully no traps though. Traps just didn't seem that, well, real (as if hurling fireballs is) as it would take a long time to set up a trap. This character would have to specialize in either ranged or up close melee and would have to specialize in the effect (cold, heat, etc.) that goes along with their selected weapons. Thus no fire arrow, but having to specialize separately into bow skills and fire damage. Thus you would be able to respec without too much difficulty into another type of damage or another type of weapon, but not both.
Dudes in one of the video i watch of them talking about the game and they said they replaced the necro with the witch doctor so no necro... I am sad, unless this witch doctor can make an army the same size or bigger but I doubt it i bet it will stop at like 10 minions max since they have all these aseome graphics and the new technology at work. Thats a lot of stress on a computer so I doubt we will be seeing large swarms of minions unless they are foes.
Necro is definately replaced by Witch Doctor IMO. Necro was considered the most unfitting character in Diablo II since they worship the use of reanimation (I read this in IGN articles, but I don't really care or bother whether necro fit or not). To some degree one can argue that Necros are after all people who use magic shunned by society, and their use of magic is very...... corruptable. This is probably why they're replacing him with witch doctor.
Looking at the style of the new Diablo III. Imagine a Necro in it. It would not fit one bit. But the Witch Doctor fits a lot more in the new graphic environment. However, if you imagine the Diablo II graphic applied on Witch Doctor, and have him in Diablo II. The Witch Doctor would not fit one bit as well.
If you look at the other classes. Druid and Babarians are probably the most fitting in the new environment. I'm assuming there would be Druids since the shapeshifting type character will almost definately be reused.
Personally I think that necros will play a big part in the story (I remembe reading about those tree monsters and how it was a bi-product of the necromancer magic) just not as playable characters. As the druid goes, I doubt they'll make an immediate arrival, possibly in a later expansion (Partially due to a bias, I liked the druids but I think some other classes will make an appearance first). Glass Cannon Caster all the way for the next announced class in my book :-).

Nothing happens to you, but everything happens for you.
Personally, i disagree. I don't think we will see a druid again. It was a LoD character, and i don't think Blizz will reuse what is to be considered a simple add to the game that they simply introduced into an expansion.
Druids have almost no place in Diablo Lore, just like the Necros didn't have in D2, and infact (seen the Witch Doctor) we can pretty much assume that they have removed from the saga.
Well actually I have to disagree as well. I see where you're going with the add, but I don't think it was just a simple add. Diablo II LOD remains one of the best selling expansions of all time, not to mention one of the highest rated expansions.
But my point really isn't the fact that Druids suit the environment, which is why they should be there. My point which I didn't mention was the fact that the shapeshifting class is very very popular, and shapeshifting class is a perfect fit for a hybrid class. I doubt we'll be seeing a demon shapeshifting class because that would out of question (don't think good guys wanna become a demon). But I think we'll be seeing a shapeshifting class of some sort. Maybe not necessarily Druids, but the only reason I would think its druid is because the environment also sorta gives a reason for druids to appear. To cleanse the forest of demons and also because I can't think of what else you can shape shift to.
But I see your point. Witch Doctor does have some druid type skills, but I think they'll probably be more of a necro char in D2, where they focus more on cursing and summoning (with awesome rituals maybe).
The druids were connected to the Barbarians, and the Barb has made a comeback?

No lie, the Wolf Druid was my favorite class and Build
To all who are saying the necromancer has no part in diablo lore, have you read any of the sin war books. The Necromancers are a key character in diablo lore.

in my oppinion the barb was the worst of all characters
with a lvl 50 sorc i could beat a 90 barb
