i agree, the should keep pk in Diablo, that is basically the whole point is MFing, geting good items to eventually put on your characters and fight people with. And i think its really fun to suddenly turn on someone, especially if they're being annoying.
if no blood no gun no kill no war the world will be perfect but when the world comes like this.is that real world??!!
blizzard, donot try to be God, you are father of diablo, but not God.i think nobody wants to be God.
Look people the pvp with Diablo 2 is bad enough as it is now, blizzard has lowered their standards and is catering to all of you people who suck at the game.
What you fundamentally don't get is that people who don't want to engage in PK aren't even playing the same game as you. They aren't interested.
I think the main reason that PKers complain about the change is that they aren't interested in sporting play against other PKers, they really just get their fun from griefing. I'm sure they'll find a way to still be annoying, they shouldn't get all worked up over it.
But when you declare hostility and then have to rush out and really kill the person out in the game, that person ALWAYS have the chance to get away. And that just adds extra flavour to the game.
A chance to get away, then have to leave the game and start over? That's.. pretty much the opposite of fun.
Vhold you are right to an extent, the people who don't like PvP are playing a different game,
problem with the change is it feels like it might take away a key foundation that pretty much made Diablo for alot of people. Me personally I want the ability to have free pvp, obviously not like Diablo 1's pvp but I don't want arenas or anything like that. I have absolutely no problem dueling or anything and hope they implement a ladder for pvp but I don't want them to take away that key foundation of the feeling that you are free to do whatever you want. In Diablo 1 and 2 you werent restricted by rules, the game grew overtime the community really made that game what it was and is, if they keep putting rules in then the game will bust.
I am sure they will do it right now and compensate both sides, just a little hard when you know waiting 8 years and there being a chance they will totally screw you over.

The flip side.. if you are a person who felt that random and abrupt PKing was pointless and relatively boring, and didn't really highlight any of the truly good aspects of the game, Diablo 2 already screwed you over. Lots of people don't even bother playing online because of the griefing, and companies are finally starting to recognize this.
I really hope that they put PK into the game, both as a game option, where specified games can have open pk, and as a mutual agreement duel option. It just totally blows my mind that anybody is against that concept, the only possible explanation for it is that they want to annoy the people that want nothing to do with it.
Like I've said for every game the past 6 years that was taking feedback from it's beta players. Use an option to make your server Open PvP that includes PK. Or an option that Allows you to set restricted or No PvP/PK. It's that simple really.
I think your stance on this is the best i've come across. though i think it should be a lil harder to kill someone, too many times have i been prevented from getting a wp by a character 30 levels above me.
differant server types is a good idea to avoid pking which i find cowardly
So you find a level 20-something character not wanting a level 60-something character to kill him and stop his group from getting a wp a coward? personally i think the system is better for lowlevel character who cannot defend themselves.
Well if they keep PK mode, you'll be sure not to lose any good items drop cuz it will be assigned to you and only you, and i surley dont want to jump in front of a car every time to get adrenaline kick, so please keep PK & HC in game  thats DIABLO!
I never did get to experience killing an innocent player and stealing their loot, I've always waited for a game to step up and incorporate it, but they were always to weak, it's disappointing to know Diablo 3 might not include it
I unfortunetly do not have the time to read this entire thread, but I just want everyone to realize the PvP is what gives any game longevity. If they want Diablo 3 to last as long as Diablo 2 (people are still playing it consistently) then they will NEED a strong PvP system. I am fine if they want to revamp this to a consent type of PvP, but they must make sure it is a good system. Even as I posted in a different thread, a matchmaking system where you can earn PvP rank or something could be very cool.
PVP should stay as it was in diablo 3. Being able to make a custom game with the name "PVP 1" or something related, worked fine. You could make whatever teams you wanted in the game or pick a new place to fight at when ever you wanted to. The thought of arena's in diablo doesn't sit well with my stomach. As for PKing, I would say they already had good enough systems in diablo 2. Level restriction games, or find players that are friendly to private game with, if your IRL friends were not on or did not play diablo. The only thing they should fix with the system is TP PK. Easy solution is once you go hostile all your spells you just cast go null/void for 3 to 5 seconds when you select hostile. That to me is the only thing that needs fixing, everything else worked fine in diablo 2.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
No, Diablo 2 did not work well on PK, due to hacks and cheats. Which will inevitably occur if you keep some "timer".
Its simple.
You must consent to PvP or PK. If you allow it, you cant cry when you die.
Otherwise, if the button is off. You cant be touched. Period.
This solves the hack and spell-remaining problems, with no TP or WP issues.
The only ones who will hate it are those who would PK someone who cant fight back.
i suggest PVP or PVM be selected once a player enters a game. once in the game it should not be toggeable. all the problems with PVP come from PVP players coming into a game and attacking players who did not want PVP. the PVP players take advantage of the toggle to surprise unsuspecting players. take that option out and it will take that element of PVP griefing out of the game.
I liked the way you could hunt or be hunted in D2 and hope that remains in the sequel. My issue is when hacks remove that sense of danger and only leave the instant death. D2 was a big improvement over the system in Diablo and I hope there will be another advance from 2 to 3 allowing for greater security and perhaps a little more hostile warning but keeping that very important element of the Diablo world in existance.
is there anymore info on this, if not this is horrible! diablo 3 needs instant hostiling or even delayed hostiling people shouldnt be able to just say no
