What's up with "don't know for sure Diablo is coming back"? The game is named Diablo, if we don't fight him in this game, it would feel kind of strange...
The panel couldn't comment on the monsters you're going to battle. I'll take his word for it and go with the thought of Diablo finding some way of getting in there, since the panel was really quick and defensive when the asker said "How will diablo be tied into diablo 3?"
Its kinda stupid that they cant say anything about the release date. I Know that they dont like to give exact release date, but cant they tell us like how far they are in the developing state now? Like 80% or 60% and the estimate of the release date. Like in 1-2 years or something like that.
Character classes would actually be a very small part of production, and wouldn't take long to develop at all.
They are still looking for developers for this game though, if I'm not mistaken. That basically says that we do have to wait a good amount of time before release.
I hope that too, but if we look at that they still have 3 classes unannounced .... But that 30mins gameplay vid really got my hopes of the early release
Starcraft 2 had a 30 minute gameplay video and it's been a year and we still don't know a release date.
Atma in act 2 runs a tavern, as does Elzix (and so did Ogden in diablo) will we actually get to buy beer and food? and play good old pub games with our rather pointless vast horde of coinage?
Atma mentions a brothel, this is getting a little adult, but is such content beyond DIablo, even if its in off camera scene, or the screen just goes dark and nothing really happens or is heard or seen?
You can rephrase the above question
I pray theres no REQUIREMENTS to eat / drink. Sleep would be an interesting idea though, if used correctly.
working Questions (probably too late but who knows...): Some people when playing D2LoD didn't care about the story line, the lore - their main focus was the grind for items, trading them for more powerful/unique ones (not only better but sometimes just different ones) and join various tournaments/leagues of PvP. Any chance to know now (or is it too early) if there will be similar possibilities in D3? - in one word - ITEMS! a lot of them, different "classes", customization, variety, last but not least the Horadric Cube and it's abilities
- D2 was great (imo) because the player (in PvP) was the real strenght of the character not the items he was wearing (they helped, a lot, but still, a good low level player had a chance versus a higher level+better geared one) - is the team behind D3 aware of that?
what D2 were you playing? Its always been who ever has the best items wins. lvl 20's could take on lvl 70's with the right items my man...
This may be off topic for this thread, but I had to ask. What has become of the great city of Ureh? If any of you have read The Kingdom of Shadow by Knaak, you'll know that it does have quite a big role. This comes to my mind mostly because they say that we can explore a new and vivid world of Sanctuary, does that mean the whole world?
If so, I'm sure that they would revisit the places that were written in the books. I dunno, I hope we can revisit these places, such as Ureh and Bramwelll, considering they are on the map.. And maybe we can even see the old Characters such as Darrick Lang or Norrac Visharan. And I really want to know what has happened to these famous characters.

Yeah because from the looks of it, it was really 100%. The physics were right with the artwork which is the hardest part of creating a game. SO I estimated they are roughly 65-70% done with the mechanics, just terrain is left. Just because they hadn't announced the classes doesn't mean they are't there.
Yea, in an interview i saw yesterday, the guy said that the other characters at the office are fun as well. And while he was saying it, it sounded like he wasn't supposed to but it slipped. So the other characters are very near complete if they aren't already.

All the characters are playable through act one.. I'm guessing the mechanics of the game are complete, maybe need some tweaking, but that time consuming part is the content that is needed for the remainder of the game.

This will probably be somewhat true. Some monsters might take a group to kill so I can imagine one entire person will get that drop.
Those are the words I was looking for
I really hope it isn't in YEARS
I can't imagine it being released any later than summer 2009.
