Hell I don't even care if it is WoW2, I just want a working mmo
Oh yeah Blizzard could follow EA's experience with The Sims: make a best selling game and 500+ expansions for it, as technology improves, just remake the game (and all the expansions, of course) over and over again...

Remember awhile back when I said that a franchise would win the majority of gamers hearts and increase a large amount of revenue if they released several games at one time compared to just one at a time?
Wrath of the Lich King
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3
Very true indeed.
And about the Europe thing, it may well be true, but I believe it's impossible to compare the influence of SC in Korea with Diablo anywhere else... and actually to any other game in a portion of the globe...

I wish that was true, I really liked the Makin' Magic expansion. No, the only similarities with the expansion for The Sims 2 is the ability to buy groceries and pets. They've implemented a lot of new elements in The Sims 2 if you actually look in to it, like garages, cars, many more buildings levels, the ability to run your own business (from home or from a lot somewhere else), the ability to attend universities, weather, sickness, a much better age simulator, and much more. But I guess this isn't a Sims forum, so I'm done
Log on to the Europe server, the number of active players is higher than the standard East/West/Etc. servers.
Thanks Magistrate. That's a good start. I'd like to see some comparative sales #s before I buy into the theory. I'll see what I can dig up. Europe vs Asia vs North America. Sounds like the Olympics.
So many people on this site take it like gospel that Europe is the Diablo fan hub. I want to be a believer in this theory, because it would obviously increase the likelihood of an announcement in 46 days.
I've wondered how difficult it would be to recreate the original Diablo in flash or something. That would pretty much kill any of my remaining productivity at work

Lol I agree with you partially in there, it's true there were new implementations from Sims 1 to 2, and the ageing was, in my opinion, the best one, but fundamentally it remained the same game, with the exact same objectives and essencially the same gameplay, meaning that it could all be done in the first game through some expansions, but instead, they decided to overhaul the graphics and start "anew".
Anyway let's get to the point, I don't know how the third Sims (second remake in my opinion) would differ as much from the second Sims, as it did with the first one.
Put that into the idea of a WoW2, they better heve something up their sleeves if they are actually planning a game on those lines.
They've cancelled more games than they've released.
But that does not relate to the fact that a game is messed up or not upon release to the public. I'm sure gaming companies are always scrapping games- does that mean that they've messed a game up? No, it just means that they didn't like where the project was going and didn't finish developing it. To say that a game that was never finished is messed up is kind of ... not smart, in my opinion.
I'm going to set up a caravan. I live in South Dakota, so I would travel down through Colorado and through AZ too I believe. PM me for rides. I'm 19, will be 20 by the time Blizzcon rolls around. FIrst time going there.
Well, leave it up to Blizzard- they haven't screwed up a game yet.
The thing about it is that, I'm not exactly concerned about the quality of the game, it's more about its uniqueness.
You see, out of the main franchises, Diablo is the most distinct from the other two, it had its unique qualities and characteristics. Although youcould say that WoW has brought the WC franchise closer to the Diablo one, it is still (as a series) much more similar to SC than Diablo. I'm afraid Blizzard could for some reason bring the franchises close together, and by that I mean giving more or less the same gaming experiences for each.
Take SC Ghost as an example, if it was completed, you could say it was more similar to a Diablo game, then they did WoW, which has done so. At the end of the day, you'd have for all franchises a similar gaming experience. Now it would only miss a Diablo game more inclined towards RTS games.
I don't really think it would happen, but I'd like to keep each franchise unique and different from each other, which was, up to a certain point, my reason for loving all three of them in their own way.
Correction, that would be economically unsound to release competing games from the same company...
Correction?
It was simply an emotional statement born of my desire to see such a thing happen; t'was not my intent to pontificate upon the perspicacity of the idea.
Regardless of whether it would be a sagacious move on Blizzard's part, I still think it would be neat; like, groovy, man.

No, I don't remember you saying that. Also, it will not increase revenue by a large amount compared to what they already make. It might be large compared to lets say what some other developers generally bring in, but not anything like you might be thinking.
Fact is, a large group of the Diablo fans are core Blizzard fans. When multiple games are released and the fan enjoys them all, it inevitably leads to a choice being made. One cannot be uber at both D3 and WoW, so those players must make a choice thus offsetting a large chunk of Blizzard's revenue their revenue.
Doesn't matter anyways. They've made more than enough money to self fund projects for many many years. I'm talking StarCraft 3, Diablo 4, Warcraft 4, etc..

This is incorrect. Europe does not have more Diablo 2 players than North America.
It's simple math, and these rumors need to be put to rest.
Fact is, while there may be more players on their server, it's because one server is catering to more players, where as in the NA, it's multiple servers catering to an even larger pool of players. Add up all the NA servers and all the European servers (and factor in the fact that a lot of D2 players don't play online) and you will see that more copies were sold and are still played in NA.

1. Diablo game annoucement at Blizzard's WWI on June 28, 2008. Nothing more than a cinematic trailer, and a gameplay demo.
2. The Diablo game becomes hands-on for those that attend BlizzCon.
