Big question though... doesn't the Soulstone in his head kind of, make him unique? The whole point of Diablo was his soulstone.. now that it's gone, are we really going to see him again without it? Would it feel like Diablo without it?
actually yeah, I think its pretty cool too. Its become part of his image, and almost like a weapon now. Its cool. And also intimidating. Especially cool since we are kind of the ones that did that to him lol. It really represents his counter-attack kind of thing.
Yeah I know, I now completely rendered my original post pointless. lol, sorry. I just wanted to say something about it.
Some artist at blizzard, I suppose. Though, it would be good to know, and I'm sure the artist would like to be known for it too. I know I would if I did that. I wonder if they have their own website...

Working with adobe and/or java is like pushing a paper clip against a building and expecting it to move...

Your original post is not useless - it makes alot of sense that he should not have it in Diablo III, and we need Blizzard to answer this big question for us.
Yes read the Sin War trilogy first. And the perfect music to read the books by is the D2 soundtrack that came with the deluxe set. What's that? Didn't everyone buy the deluxe set? It came with a paper AD&D Diablo thing too. Since I don't play D&D it has remained in pristine condition. Also the set came with a DVD that was all the cut scenes in D2 up to the point where Marius get killed by Baal. I have watched it about twice in all these years. The only thing that got any milage apart from the game was the soundtrack CD. Perfect reading music!
Okay, well.. I sent an email to Richard A. Knaack and he got back to me with this (in case anyone else was curious about who exactly painted this work of awesomeness)...
Hi, Keegan
Thanks for your kind words. I was pleased to see the Archive coming, especially with the new artwork. The artist is Wei Wang, I'm told. I know nothing about him, I'm sorry to say except that he is excellent, if this is an example.
Awesome artwork; big D looks like such a badass. Set as desktop background. I'd have to say that they seem like they are going much more mature on his look now. I look back at some of the cartoony pictures of him and think this particular pic (and the head) just make him look so purely evil...it's great.
