Richard A. Knaak just emailed me to let me know of his New York Comic Con schedule and to share with Diablo3.com's visitors a high-quality image of DIABLO ARCHIVE (July 8, 2008) and WORLD OF WARCRAFT: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON (November 18, 2008). Both covers attached at the bottom of this article. DIABLO ARCHIVE is a trade paperback containing three books: LEGACY OF BLOOD, THE BLACK ROAD, & THE KINGDOM OF SHADOW.
Back on October 2007, Knaak revealed there will be new writers working on upcoming Diablo novels yet unannounced.
If you are going to New York Comic Con, make sure to visit Richard A. Knaak on Saturday, April 19 at the Starcraft/Warcraft panel. He will be unveiling details of his new Starcraft Manga trilogy, World of Warcraft: Night of the Dragon and other upcoming novels.

Richard A Knaak doesnt look how I imagined him to be
That Diablo Archive picture is cool, would make a good boxart aswell
Did he mention who the artist was behind the cover?
He didn't mention, but usually who takes care of the novel covers such as Queen of Blades, Wow: Tides of Darkness, Wow: Beyond the Dark Portal, Diablo: The Sin War and Starcraft: The Dark Templar -- all of those were made by Blizzard Artist Glenn Rane.
I'm sorry, that made me laugh until my sides hurt when I noticed that lmao.
Weeeee I'm so excited. It's a good time to be a Diablo fan.
The real satisfaction will come when it's finally announced, and all of us faithful, patient, die-hard fans will finally be (is vindicated the right word?) I mean, for years all people would say is "Therz no !@#$in d3 comin nub"
lol, LarryNC: Or, the reason for making new artwork could possibly just be for some sort of book cover, say, for the Diablo Archive.
Anyway, I love that artwork, so freaking cool. I noticed Diablo3.com used it on the "this site is getting updated" page when the site was down a little while ago.
This artwork is interesting, the diablo skull above the passage way has no soul stone, but diablo does. Obviously his soulstone hasnt been smashed yet and it looks as though he is in the chaos sanctuary. Im going to bet that the next book will take place in the time of diablo 2, I belive it will clarify the storyline and provide a wicked setup for D3.
wait, is that soulstone still in diablo's head? haha, man, I thought it was destroyed already.
As said in the original news post, that artwork is the front cover of Diablo Archive which contains the first three books:
1. Diablo: Legacy of Blood
2. Diablo: The Black Road
3. Diablo: The Kingdom of Shadow
lol, I know. I also know the chronological order of the novels. Only Moon of the Spider happens after Diablo's soulstone is destroyed. I was really just trying to point out the fact that every diablo art since DII has Diablo with the soulstone in his head. Its been like 10 years lol. I know it makes sense to have it in his head because nothing (except Moon) has been set after the DII game. but its just that, anyone who reads these books is gonna play the game first, its just getting a bit old to show him with the soulstone still in his head.
but yeah, I know... if they showed him without it, they would be alluding to Diablo III, and they wouldn't want that lol.

Strongly agree.
Damn, a lot is going on over here...
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
I noticed that aswell.

I know right? I can't wait for Blizzard to official tell every person that ever said Diablo III is not coming that they were wrong!
