How about a mimic. Learning the skills of monsters and using them against them. I think they had a mimic in one of the very early FFs. I kind of liked the idea and you could really elaborate on the learning of skills system and then using them in different and special ways.
Well, learning other skills wouldn't work because not many skills could be learned at the beginning. It's a good idea -- the mimics, over their vast years of studying, they can perfect a creatures skills by sucking their soul out and devouring it, learning the many arts that once were used by those that lay dead. Now, they have a pool of spells, summons, etc. that they have to choose from to slay the forces of evil -- or something like that, didn't give it much thought and creativity, hehe.
Why should diablo make us of the other 50 classes? Because blending them can make a cool unique character.
If you want a total 100% unique char with 100% unique skills that have never been used before, you'd end up with the most stupid, annoying character there is.
It's a fact. Just because you use a name that ahs already been used, doesn't mean it's not unique.
There are bound to be 1000 people named Richard liek me, but that doesn't make me a little bit less unique.
Diablo 3 wont make copies of older classes, they will blend and re-use good concepts of previous classes and skill.
I agree. There can be good attributes taken from other classes from other games. THat doesn't mean that the character has to look the same or actually even be the same. I say take from the good of old characters and make some changes, enough to make them unique. Don't be blatently obvious about it either.
Or how about a Warrior, or a Warlock, or a freaking rogue, no bloody WoW heroes should ever, ever defile the awesomeness of Diablo 3.
Warrior and Rogue? You speak of Diablo 1 classes?

You just proved my point, if 50 other games have those classes, why should Diablo 3?
And why shouldn't it? You want class names that have never been used before, and thus, nobody knows what they are? The whole point is to pick a name that makes you recognize what a class is all about as soon as you hear it.
I hope they will give the wizard "telekenesis" ability that will let them throw monsters at each other or use all the destructable items in the game for ammunition to shoot at enemies or to use as a makeshit barricade to rain down destruction from behind a wall of wreckage.
All of the above is possible via. the havok physics engine, just requires a little bit of scripting.
Just thought it would be a cool ability for a already existing (or non-existant) class.

-Witch/Wizard (nuff sed)
-Centaur (nuff sed...)
-Archer (sumthin ilike amazon)
if i were to make a game like diablo..i would make every character have a personality + ability to talk..
like for example..the above chars would have personality like..
Hunter: Selfish..helpful as long as rewarded..
Centaur: Angry & powerful..
Archer: ummm..i went blank for this one..HAHAHAHA...

Necro: I will take your soul away...are you ready?
1) Although this idea could be very lame, a Nobleman of some sort. Someone brought up with an aristocratic background. Proficient with light weapons (Rapier) and rapid attack/parry abilities. This character class could be quick enough to have a counter attack ability. Could potentially use Alchamy/Science as well. Potions, mechanized traps, etc. This would also give the game a decidedly European character that everyone has been wanting. The only issue here is, would this character's abilities be too close to the Assassin of LOD?
2) How about a Non-Human Character? Centaur, Minotaur, Half-Demon, etc. Humans are fine but it seems like the old character classes have been so outdone.
And what i would really like to see is a class of Angel and Devil both mele one havin healing other dark magic not to strong in melle and not to strong with magic.... Angel being more support Devil being more offencive magic wise both being able to infuse their weapons with the force of light and dark.... i recon the idea is great as long as they dont make them to strong... and dominating.... you dont want a army of angels crowding the server........ Also a pirate would be a great idea something new to the series.... but what skills could you apply to a pirate ? wooden leg windmill? but there could be something like he calls his buddies to the battle with him in the party the gold would double and he could take the party across the water... but to fullfill a clas as such would be a massive task... althou he could be a curse master...... and have a gun and one hand and a sword in the other......(clasic gun not a ak47 ) that way he could be a good spiker being able to attac from distance as well as hand to hand.... poping up holograms like in dukenukem 3d smoking a big cigar that gives him +100 to attack rating -- now im just tripping. and ofcourse that would leave some space for the good old amazon who would be only a range attacker... (as she should always be....) always played diablo only with amazon.but the range attacker must be faster then the previous ones..... Ugh Wizzy has spoken!
the monk was already in diablo. its a seprate version of diablo made by blizzard but with a new character and more quests. only singer player though. i think monk would be a good thing to bring back though
