hi. I recon that every new version of a game brings new beginnings to new class's so, why not have the Samaria class?... I say the more class's involved the better.
But seeing as we're limited to only five, I would like to see some... "Better" classes make the cut.
You guys discussing about war and stuff are forgetting a very important part: economy.
Knight's equipament are far more expensive. Thats happen because the number of armored knights in a feudal army are pretty low, and they equipe the other ppl (most servants wich fight as a foot soldier or squire) with leather/chain mail, cheap blunts and spears.
So don't think a european army are made of shinning knights in armored horses with silk capes, golden ornaments etc... Only a very few used such equipaments.
What a mean is, this fight is totally hypotetical, economically unfair and senseless, once both samurais and knights are not matial fighters they are field soldiers so the 1x1 duel is totally unlogical. See, I with a pistol could kill any samurai or knight (i'm trained with gun weapons) easily, but a ''army of italofocas'' could never win a battle against a true army, japonese, european, doesn't matter.
Maybe they will name the class warrior. They never said there wasn't going to be a d1 character returning(I know he can't technically return since he died with diablo, but the class can return)

hmmmmmm that sounds probable Would be cool to....maybe were gonna get the rogue back to It seems like were gonna be dealing with traps far more elaborate then just opening a chest and an arrow flying at you....so the rogues trap disarm ability would be put to good use in D3
No. A Samurai would not fit into Diablo at all. It is not the right time, as Diablo is set in an Medieval time of Swords, Axes, Bows, Black Magic etc. They did not continue with any Asian style in D2 because it would be out of place and not fit in with any lore or the world of the Sanctuary.
I guess. See, the thing is, i really don't think there will be a FULL asian culture style class. A Samurai is pretty out there because that suggests exactly WHERE it comes from (early Japan ((Japan is not in the Diablo universe)).) Although, a class with a hint of asian culture, such as Assassin, would be acceptable. Nothing in Diablo is a replica of something in real life (class wise). They don't call anything from a name where you could say, hey, that comes from Japan or that is probably from an Amazon tribe. Even though they named a class Amazon, that could have been just how they describe her, but as for Samurai; i dont think there will be a class fully replicating something in our world.
Not to say i wouldnt like the return of some sort of Assassin, or some asian hinted character. Or any hinted character for that matter.
No. Diablo is much more gothic for me. I don't see asian culture fitting in. There is a large difference between western RPG's (Fable, Witcher, etc.) and Eastern RPG's (Final Fantasy). If one of the acts is based around asian architechure culture it would remind me too much of Eastern RPG's (which are good in their own right) and next thing you know, spiky haired anime characters with swords the size of a telephone pole will be walking around. No to samauri/asian culture in DIII please.
I do however like that the Wizard seems to be asian, a nice mix of race with in the classes.

Isn't that really what the Diablo Universe is? I've forgotten what Diablo really is, a Gothic, Demonic, Horrific World. It has nothing to do with anything in our world. For me, that is why the Witchdoctor only half fits in. Sure, he uses sort of voodoo kind of stuff, but what's with his look and summoning those domestic looking creatures.
Maybe in an expansion pack, but as for the man game. no.
no expansion pack, you dont see english longbowmen in the game. every class in diablo has existed in every other civilization on the planet. adding a samurai class will be shutting out every other civilization saying that the japanese get something extra special.
The Diablo Universe has ALWAYS been centered around Christian Europe. Ie loads of references to the bible and there is no place for another religion in the game or any people from a far away land who would radically change the lore of the game.
Ill counter your first paragraph with a very short answer but you may look into the thread for another few full answers to the exact same thing. Its even on this page, a few posts ago. (LOL its my last post before this. Theres a single post between our posts.)
Answer to first paragraph: The OP didnt go into detail but im sure he didnt mean a real samurai and i certainly do not.
Num3n says:
"The Diablo Universe has ALWAYS been centered around Christian Europe. Ie loads of references to the bible and there is no place for another religion in the game or any people from a far away land who would radically change the lore of the game."
Simply wrong. Sorry, sad (for you) but true. Sanctuary is a fully developed fantasy world including all real world cultures. The religion resembles Chistianity more than other religions but still its clearly not Christianity. Actually... Why do you mention religion? What does it have to do with the topic?
for the love of God why o why did i come back to this thread...
sigh....... (actually sighed in real life, it felt good) in response to your first bit about me not reading, that isnt true i have read every page and every post in this thread and the other one somewhere on these forums in some other section.
and yes it is a "fully developed fantasy world" and yes it does contain lots of other cultures. However good sir, as i mentioned a long long time ago in a far away land in a place where monsters rule.. (ie another thread about 6+ months ago)..... k nvm forget i just wrote that paragraph as it would take far too much time to continue writing
anyways i know it is a fully developed world but it is centered on the beliefs of Christianity and the fight against the Devil.
and to this:
The religion resembles Chistianity more than other religions but still its clearly not Christianity
they use a cross as a symbol which is on the paladin. diablo, baal, mephisto, belial, azmodan, lilith, loads of the paladins abilities, etc... all come directly from Christianity, literally the same names from the bible. and that in turn means that this game was centered around europe and their beliefs. now how exactly would a samurai fit into it. and no doubt in response you will say, then how do the other classes fit in.
well in response to the question you would no doubt have asked:
barb- obviously based on the germanic tribes of northern Europe and of course the norse
amazon- were a nation of all-female warriors in Greece
necromancer- heavy populations of necromancers throughout europe. i dont know much about them other than they were very prevelant all over europe in the dark ages and middle ages.
sorceresses- ie wizard, again tales of them throughout europe. Merlin anyone?
paladin- based on the knights templar from europe. or any other sort of crusading knight very fanatical but pious in nature.
druid- druids originated in the celtic society a long long time ago. and then stayed in mythology for some time so that it became part of irish, scottish, welsh and english society.
assassins- occured everywhere on the planet, however were extremely prevelant in europe as feuding lords often saught quick means to end possible conflicts which in many cases lasted for years at a time.
All the OP was trying to state was that he would like to see an "East Asian" influenced character. He worded his thoughts wrong and everyone jumped the gun.
With others like to see it? I'm sure, I would maybe in an Expansion pack, but not off the bat.

I kinda agree......looking back pretty much all class names have been very generic and typical of any rpg/fantasy setting.

Melee tree, Scientology tree, Acting tree
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
LOL that made me laugh....not bad.....but I dont think were gonna see another asian like character when we have one already.
As a level 30 skill, he will jump on Diablo's throne and yell out "I LOVE THE AMAZON!"
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions

then if we take your idea
samurai- only existed in japan.
fantastic.
