how about a druid that cannot shapeshift, but has a more diversal attacks, instead of just fire and wind, how about fire, water, earth, wind? just a thought. it could also be a sorc, because we are yet to see one of those. i was a great druid fan, and i would love to see a more elementally focused druid class. bring back hurricane!

i would like to see the druid again, but i really liked the shape shifting. i still think they should have elemental and put more skills in it, but get rid of sommaning instead

O.o are you ******* crazy? x.x
How about making werewolf form able to use more elementally focused skills? There's nothing unuasual about a werewolf causing hurricanes and other natural disasters. ;/
D3 would never ever be as great as it could possibly be if they don't have werewolf shapeshifting...

Diablo III needs werewolf form!! Werewolf druids are the greatesterestest! Werewolves that shred and eat enemies even!! Rawr! (f'.')f
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Most of the fun of playing a Druid (for me) was shapeshifting into a Werewolf and slaughtering anything that stood in my way. Regarding the elemental spells, if Blizzard focussed more on earth and wind, allowing the Sorcerer class to use Fire, Lightning and Ice there would be no overlapping character traits. The only trait of the Druid which may resemble that of another class would be the ability to summon Wolves and such as opposed to the Witch Doctor's mongrels.

Would you guys mind if the other two skill tabs of your Shapeshift class is 'bow&spear' and 'traps'?
You wont use them, its like the elemental tree of the druid in D2.
Would that bother you?
You are presenting the "Ranger" idea, aren't you? You can't be a tank if you carry a bow (or traps for that matter).

what did the sorceress summon?
(the mage in WoW summons water elementals but not the sorceress)
i'd also hardly consider Amazon and Assassin "summoners" since they only created 1 fighting "pet"
Valkyrie and some sort of shadow thing whos name i forget (i never liked the Assassin).
Sorceress's summon wasn't really a summon. You mean hydra right? It couldn't move. It just sat there and shot fireballs. It was no more a summon than a meteor or frozen orb.
A few classes will have extra summons but I think for the most part there will only be one main summoner, as was the necro.
im gonna cross my fingers and hope wd is the only summoner. keeps the summoner unique and probably better server performance.
There is nothing wrong with two classes with the ability to summon co-existing in the same universe (it's happened before). Druids would use Wolves, Bears & such, while the Witch Doctor would use the undead.

they already said that each class will be completely different than the other. I think Necromancers/Druids will be in game but not playable.
I expect a ranged damage class (bows, crossbows or javelins), a pure caster, a hybrid caster/melee (something like the paladin was in D2) and thats about the 5 we will have.
think of the similarities:
Witch Doctor:
we only know of 1 kind of pets but there will be more. Still they appear undead but animal like (close to both Necro and Druid)
summoning walls to keep enemies away: like the Bone Wall of the Necro, only way, way cooler.
fire bomb spell: reminds me of some fire abilities the Druid had.
pet explosion: corpse explosion without corpses anyone?
fear/confuse: too much like a necro.
believing what Pardo said, every class will be much more different than the other. Even more than it was in Diablo II.
Maybe they'll keep some shapeshifter around, but not the Druid as he used to be (could be the melee/hybrid class most of us been thinking of).

i didn't say that there was anything wrong with it, i'd just prefer it if summoning was something unique and not something interspersed across two or three classes. And my second point still stands unchallenged.

Scosglen is an area with a checkpoint, Druids will most likely be playable. Need more proof? Look at the concept art trailer.
Back to the initial discussion, both the Druid and the Witch Doctor can remain unique. The Druid can shapeshift, use elemental spells (earth and wind), and summon (Wolves, Bears, Crows). The Witch Doctor can use fire based spells, hexes and summon the undead. Despite a minor similarity between the two, they are still individual classes that do not (for the most part) overlap.

nature spells with the Druid: Earth and Wind
fire and poison with Witch Doctor.
whats left for the pure caster class?
Ok, we've got Lightning and Cold.. but as of the third talent line... cant be something with summons... an entirely new magic line? But kind of spell could be used there? I dont think "bone" could work either, its like taking pieces out of the previous classes and randomly creating new ones which is both unoriginal and smells like a failure from the distance.
The Witch Doctor only has a few fire spells, as opposed to a Sorcerer class which would have an entire tab full of spells. Fire, Lightning, Ice and potentially Arcane. It is alright to have slight similarities between classes, so long as they still, for the most part, remain unique.

i'd prefer it to have an elemental per talent line for the caster class. I loved it when they implemented the Water Elemental for the mage in WoW. Considering how most golems wont be around (because of the necro) we could have some old spells back ("Elemental" from Diablo 1 that was a fiery guy running around usually without hitting anyone :P).
Druid and Assassin were expansion characters, and the Amazon had like 1 summon?
The initial characters will probably be something like this. Following the D2 guidelines:
Melee (Barbarian), Support (Paladin), Summoner (Necro), Ranged (Amazon), Magic (Sorc).
Then with the expansion hybrids came.

Diablo 2 summon classes:
Necromancer
Druid
Assassin
Amazon
Sorceress
5/7 classes could summon.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

Necro was the poster child for summons.
Druid was a expansion hybrid.
Assassin was a expansion hybrid.
Amazon had one summon.

Until expansion possibly.

The Witch Doctor only has a few fire spells we know of.
*corrected*
Well the spells that druids did was fire damage wasn't it? Molten boulder volcano and such?
I can't imagine a caster class without cold, fire, and lightining. It was so fun being able to use all of those elements.
