I dont understand the idea of having a witch doctor as a replacement for the necro. To be honest, not being racist whatsoever, I think they wanted to add a little "color" to the cast of characters. What do you think?
Yup.. i really think they should put the old seven classes and the witch doctor in.. but i really think the witchdoctor took the place of the necromancer.. ]:
DII had 5 classes when it first came out. The XP included two more, assa/druid. An xp pack will come out to DIII aswell including more chars
hmm, i dont think so. its more that in WoW they had the Shaman. i think they wanted an sort of an dark version of it so ppl could play a sort of shamy in D3
That could be true, but I want nothing about WoW involved with Diablo III. I dont want it tainting Diablo, it shoudl be dark and gloomy.

The paladin in D2?
I fully expect an 'Asian' type character - monk, ninja, samurai etc as well -
My idea is backed up by the STR requirements already implemented in the original mechanics of D2
The only change is the requirement that a Knight not be allowed to prance around in leather armor
They should keep the DII way, where any character can were any armor, given that they give enough str or dex accordingly.
If you set limitations, you get a wow based game, where people will only let you join there group if your a healer, and we need 2 tanks for blah blah run. That is just horrible and what makes WoW such a horribly boring game.

This only serves to better the game
I almost forgot about the paladin...
But as far as the ninja or samurai, hell no. Why do people want Ninja in every game, what the hell is so amazing about a ninja. Ninja Gaiden can handle the ninja part. Diablo needs a rouge (ranged unit) Mage/Sorc (Caster and magical unit) and a Pally, that was one of the most popular characters. There always has to be a warrior/magic mixed unit.
1.Barbarian
2.Witch Doctor
3.Necro-Druid Hybrid
4.Paladin
5.Lesser Evil-Angel (not sure if they will be allowing the option to choose which side to fight for)
I want to slaughter Angels damn it hah hah hah.
Long live The Lord of Terror
Edit-The lesser Evil or Angel i was talking about basically same as a Sorc but more powerful.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Hell is an Illusion......There is only Death.
You think they might actually add a Diablo hellfire class to D3? I mean we haven't even seen mention of a monk or a bard, do you think it's even possible that they might add it? I mean they've added a witchdoctor, which was completely from left field for me. They did add a barbarian after all :P. Just a thought, I mean blizzard sure loves those curveballs.
In my opinion, they can't really bring a class from Diablo 1 or Hellfire, since they'd really only be similar in name. The classes in the original had very little that set them apart from each other. The 'bard' from hellfire could dual-wield and identify items at will, but did that make him a bard, in any fantasy sense? I think not.
So the question basically becomes, 'do you think they'll have a bard or monk class?'.
Edit - As to lore? Blizzard didn't make hellfire, Sierra did.

Hey, well you never know :P, but IMO I guess not, since it was essentially just discounted as a Diablo game and erased from Diablo history.
Think of this, i dont remember who, but in some of the blizzard chats, someone said that there is a new damage tipe beside fire/frost/lighting/poison, and its name was arcane.
So probably they are thinking of a mage more "arcane" (gothic mystic style), more than an elementalist.
-Popular "You know, one day I'm going to start a fire and invite you all over to see what ridiculous shit you see in the smoke. God dammit, y'all are crazy."
there are a few things about that dude's line of D3 videos that i find highly suspect, however the knight/pally class is certainly a possiblity.
honestly i think he made some fairly obvious predictions about the game and then just filled the rest in with with his own fantasies and experiences from other games/movies etc.
whether or not he got the "beta" is also suspect as he was showing himself playing in the exact same spot and in the exact same equipment as the gameplay video we all saw.
i'd be inclined to advise you to take everything that guy says wth a grain of salt until you hear it from the mouth of a blizzard rep himself.
One more serious thing - did you notice that great influence of WOW? Witch doctor, something like shaman, totally reminds me on warcraft, those happy colors, I hope it's just one part of landscape and that was enough, BLIZZ, don't overuse rainbow colors in D3!!! Not everybody is crazy about WOW
Perfectly reasonable that there are human witch doctors considering NPCs like Alkor in Kurast, and the various Witch Doctor monsters you encounter. Not everything that looks/sounds similar to wow is being pulled out of it.

In a way I agree, and the Assasin/Ranger Hybrid is a plausible scenario for the Zon replacement.
