I think that Tyrael must have deep regret for not being able to save the worldstone, but at the same time harbor some sort of responsibility for what is happening now. I wouldn't be surprised if he dedicates himself even more to the cause. I can not see him becoming evil...

"I did not give them hell, I only told them the truth, and they thought it was hell."- Harry Truman
Here's what I see transpiring: Tyrael's brief connection to the Worldstone as he destroyed it opened his mind up to the last ravaged remnants of the minds of Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal. Together, the Three possessed him, and now he is fighting their possession of him, inadvertently summoning demons now and then. Eventually, they gain full control of him (that very popular concept art, with Tyrael hovering over the seal on the ground, looks a great deal it could be the defining moment, when they finally gain control of his body - note the small flashes of what appear to be fire behind him), and you eventually are forced to kill Tyrael.
Dark Angel FTW!
EDIT: Just watched D3 cinematic again... "For I have seen what the darkness hides". Hell wasn't dark, was it? Seemed pretty damn bright to me, hot too. Could it possibly be a play on the darkness within Tyrael's hood?

This is kinda close to what I posted. I like the idea of what you said about how it opened his mind to The Three. I imagine that Tyrael is very difficult for the Prime Evils to takeover since he is an angel. Thus why hell did not invade for the last 20 years.

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.
Of all the stuff in Diablo that has no basis in reality this one slays me, gold and silver coins are weighed in troy ounces. (roughly 10% heavier than a typical US ounce)
Hey I know the Diablo characters are strong but that is over 85 US tons! (Or over 77 metric tons). That’s like toting around 85 pickup trucks in your loot bag.
Even the barbarian is going I think is going to have a rough time dragging that back to the stash, not that it would fit anyways
HAA! That is some funny stuff
Gold Bars in the Gold Vault of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York
Each gold bar weighs about 27.4 pounds
On the points of Tyreal, I hope he's not a fallen angel, that would bum me out.

in the middle colour picture you can see a cross on his chest and in another forum someone said something about another angel being cast down from heaven(aka NOT tyrael) so it would be him
When you think about it though, they could very easlily update the picture, say once a month leading up to the release and it could transform in diablo. Or the could also very easlily just update the picture to show where they are heading with graphics and character models. It could mean alot or absoloutly nothing which is what Blizzard love to do. So i wouldn't get your hopes up yet even though it is fun to guess whats happening
Ok so i was bored and just looking at the d3 website an di have noticed people re saying that there are spike coming from his shoulder pads. I believed this for many months since the D3 website opened and i just looked at it and saw that they might not be spikes after all. If you notice in DII he's got wings coming from behind his shoulder pads. They are small and a little hard to notice. If you look at the animation on D3 website they are gone. Looking closely to find something intriguing i saw that his shoulder pads and "Spikes" move in different timing, this suggests that in fact they do not come from his shoulder pads but rather his back in place of those "Wings". This mad me wonder if Tyrael really is bad because thy may just be hardened due to his evilness but idk Thoughts?
Edit** to notice the different timing wait at the end of his breathing. They move the same up till there when he exhales you can see the "Spikes" move before the shoulder pads do
Double Edit**** Also if you look throughout he shining light right where his shoulder pads end you can clearly still see spikes suggesting that they are in-fact not from hi shoulder pads and instead the hardened wings on his back

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Well, they changed his look again if anyone noticed, personally i think the white looks better, the wings really don't look d2-ish anymore, more of just light floating behind him..
agreed! or maybe its imperius really...something is different when u look at the "new" wings..there is a change and i doubt its just a new artistic direction..it has something to do with the story..
Yeah, I kind of wanted to say he was really Imperius, too, but I don't know, it would make more sense to have Tyrael as the main feature on the site since fans are already familiar with him. It's probably just a detail overhaul like most people said- better technology allows the creators to make him look more amazing.
P.S.: Please, let's not try any of those picture-over-analyzations typical of pre-announcement Diablo fans. Like looking at a picture of ice for 6 straight hours and drawing a vague star shape, and therefore = "OMFGz0rzsz itis DIABLO!!!11!11!!!lolz1!!!lamo@!" It's just an image, don't over-analyze it, please. It's never helped in the past and has always proven wrong
:(:mad:OK I have a thought what if they are adding features to tyreal for a reason like the more they change him on the site the more evil he become like maybe in a couple weeks or a month he gets red wings and his mask slowly starts to come off so what im saying is the more he is developed on the site some closer to release date 4 the game and shows that tyreal is becoming diablo soo give that a though:rolleyes::O
So, I was bored and started looking at the concept art. And suddenly it hit me. There seems to be a sequence of events in the pics.
Cathedral
Cain studying in cathedral
Cain notices change of light
Leah comes running to save cain, (Look at cinematic)
meteor opens hole in floor of cathedral
2 Angels emerge, Tyrael and some other guy which I will call "evil Angel". The evil angel seems to be engulfed in fire/explodes.
Tyrael in the cathedral after all this happened
So, I think the meteor is really Tyrael fighting this other angel, preventing him from doing something. Which may explain why he has so much armor on, and those spikes. It seems that Tyrael kills this other angel, but maybe the damage is done. Maybe the hole in the cathedral is a gate to hell?

I didn't say it's not a cool picture. I like it a lot. I just said it didn't have to do with Tyreal being evil or not.
I could imagine that picture to be a stuffed pillow for kids.

He looks more detailed and more badass in my opinion, i just hope the story of the game is good and not retarded.

Notice the similarity btw this this guy and the "evil angel" above. Perhaps he is Inarius?

And now look at the meteor from cinematic. Looks kind of like 2 guys fighting.
