I think one of the bigger attractions and lasting elements of the Diablo franchise has been its darker, more mature take on the fantasy genre.
I've read through all of the Diablo novels twice now, and am looking for something new (yet similar) to scratch the Diablo-world itch. Can anyone suggest some good books that have the same aesthetic / atmospheric texture as the Diablo franchise? I've tried googling for 'dark fantasy' novels but am mostly getting cheesy vampire-hunter novel type books, which isn't what I'm looking for.
Coldfire trilogy by C.S. Friedman, Magister trilogy by C.S. Friedman (last book didn't come out yet, though), Word and Void trilogy by Terry Brooks (modern dark fantasy, slow at first, but it's well worth it). Um... Dark fantasy... dark fantasy... That's all the ones that I liked that come off the top of my head.
